I think cigarettes and Prescription drugs are dangerous to be marketed the way they are. Cigarettes in other countries show images of what happens to lungs, teeth, tongue and face when a person smokes cigarettes. Currently cigarettes in the U.S still have reinforcing images and trigger words to market cigarettes. Prescription drugs are also blasted on t.v commercials showing their benefit but covering their symptoms by using tiny disclaimer letters at the bottom including stating symptoms really fast at the end of the thirty second commercial. It makes a difference that these products are legal because they are able to market reach customers who might have never been reached before. I think it would be right to single them out because they
have caused the death of many users.
Direct-to-consumer (DTC) marketing of pharmaceuticals has grown increasingly in the past decade. The American public views prescription drug advertising for a wide range of medical conditions, including high cholesterol, depression, allergies, and erectile dysfunction. The Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates the content of these advertisements. Critics also have taken the position that the advertisements garner unearned trust from the public, are misleading, and promote unnecessary use of prescription drugs for common problems associated with aging. Proponents counter that DTC ads help eliminate stigmas associated with certain medical conditions, give patients an active role in their health care management, and encourages the doctor/patient relationship. There have been calls for bans on DTC pharmaceutical advertising, but the practice is protected under a business’s right to free speech. Regulation changes, particularly requiring the FDA to pre-approve marketing campaigns before they are released to the public, may be one way to appease opponents, while protecting the rights of pharmaceutical manufacturers to advertise to the average American consumer.
Direct-to-consumer prescription drug ads are dangerous and can have serious effects on the health of the general public. In the article “Pros & Cons Arguments: ‘Should prescription drugs be advertised directly to consumers?’”, the pros and cons of the advertising of prescription drugs are compared. The negative aspects of these ads outweigh the positives. DTC prescription drug ads misinform patients, promote over-use, and pressure medical providers. The counter side argues that these ads inform patients, create a positive impact on patient compliance with medication, and cause patients to confront their doctors.
The tobacco industry seems like a beneficial addition to our economy. It has basically been a socially acceptable business in the past because it brings jobs to our people and tax money to the government to redistribute; but consider the cost of tobacco related treatment, mortality and disability- it exceeds the benefit to the producer by two hundred billion dollars US. (4) Tobacco is a very profitable industry determined to grow despite government loss or public health. Its history has demonstrated how money can blind morals like an addiction that is never satisfied. Past lawsuits were mostly unsuccessful because the juries blamed the smoker even though the definition of criminal negligence fits the industry’s acts perfectly. Some may argue for the industry in the name of free enterprise but since they have had such a clear understanding of the dangers of their product it changes the understanding of their business tactics and motives. The success of the industry has merely been a reflection of its immoral practices. These practices have been observed through its use of the media in regards to children, the tests that used underage smokers, the use of revenue to avoid the law, the use of nicotine manipulation and the suppression of research.

Many people believe that graphic warnings would be one of the ways to reduce the number of people smoking, and prevent from diseases such as cancer, or lung problems. However, tobacco industries oppose to this movement because it is effecting their profits and reputation. This is a very egoistic perspective because they use the population to become a profitable company while millions of people suffer on that. People has been fighting with this issue since century where graphic warnings have not been fully accepted by the government. Therefore, Food and Drug Administration intentions are to put 6 graphic pictures showing effects of smoking such as, a man exhaling cigarette smoke through a tracheotomy hole in his throat or an infant surrounded by cigarette smoke or two pictures of a healthy lung and an ill lung and many more. Ultimately, graphic warnings should be required on cigarette packs because it educates about health risks, decreases smoking rate in the society, and reduces attractiveness of smoking among adults and juveniles.

This one ad out of many, surprisingly, contains a now required warning label at the bottom, warning pregnant or potentially pregnant consumers of the chance that their baby or reproductive system may be harmed. What some consumers don 't know, is that the e-cigarette owners are also the owners of the big tobacco cigarette companies. These companies clearly don 't want the smokers to quit smoking, but continue with what is argued as a “healthier”

Some actions should be taken on tobacco products because the risk of getting cancer is high. Cigarettes are not healthy in any way making it a defective product, it mainly kills the smoker rather than helping them.

Everyone knows that cigarettes are horrible for your health and increase your risks of cancer. Not too long ago there was a big advertisement for e-cigarettes also known as vaping. It was advertised to be a healthier alternative and comparable to a nicotine patch to help you quit smoking. Many people began to question this new form of smoking and if it was really a safer alternative. Even though vaping is a safer alternative than smoking, vaping is not harmless because you are still getting nicotine, inhaling poison and risking a weaker immune system.

Tobacco is one of the most heavily used addictive products in the United States. Tobacco contains over 4,000 chemicals; approximately 250 are dangerously harmful to humans. Smoking is a major public health problem. All smokers face an increased risk of lung cancer, cardiovascular problems and many other disorders. Smoking should be banned due to the many health risks to the user, second hand related smoke illness, and excessive cost.
