The romance in 19th century was referred by ‘courtship’ and involved an act of how the two lovers meet at a local dance or social events and how they become friends and slowly and gradually fell in love. The stories used to share the common interest that of being together for summer breaks or for some period of time and then getting apart because of the family as they don’t share same cast in society. It is seen that most of the love stories used to turn in tragedy in the end just because of the cast discrimination that used to happen at that time. In 21st century, the definition of love broadened as couples have been considered to be dating after they have had a first date or when they become short-term partners or when they have redefined their “buddy” relationship to something more intense or when they are involved in a long-term romantic relationship, or when they designate each other as “boyfriend” or “girlfriend”. The relationships are not anymore confined to marriage, it is now often treated as a stage in a relationship where two people are “dating,” “committed,” or “invested” in one another. Women across cultures are attracted to men with a strong jaw line, broad shoulders, and a narrowing of the waist. Selecting a person to spend one’s life with or to have someone by side is now based on financial and physical ability of the other person. Earlier the love was pure and endless. Taking the reference of The Notebook by Nicholas Spark, as it clearly states the endless love of two people who meet at Neuse River Festival, Noah and Allie and then slowly fall in love but because of their different class in society they couldn’t stay together for long. They get separated and begin their life with a whole new start but still feel the same or each other as they did when they were young. Both of them couldn’t forget that time they spend with each other in summers and keeping that feeling in their heart still go out with people but always find “That Feeling” that they both shared in their partners everytime.
