Don’t be fooled by the title I don’t actually expect everyone to get physical. As some would agree that being physical is on there list of things to avoid. Now this isn’t a shot at people who don’t like exercise or people that see tuesday as taco tuesday rather than tricep tuesday. However, that's just how things are. Exercising is for people who either want to cut away that extra belly fat,get those muscles for you trip to the beach or simply to regain power and mobility in certain parts of their body. In the “Exercise World” there is a lot to learn. So being literate and knowing about literacy in general is a important thing especially if the world of exercise is something in your interest or possible you take being physical and turning it …show more content…
We had this project that our school was involved in called the IB project(International Baccalaureate). This was a year long project that had to be completed or there was a risk of not graduating if you choose to not do the project at all. So typical me had a hard time on finding out what I wanted to do for my IB project. This all changed when I decided to take a trip to my grandmother's house a few days later from the start of the project. I remember the environment when I showed up to my grandmother's house. There was a slight breeze, the sun was still out but it was cold enough to send goose bumps running up your sleeve. I typically enjoyed the weather like this however, this weather proved to be difficult to my grandmother. My grandmother has a hard time moving her elbow due to her age and a past injury she got when she was younger. So a typical day it's already tough for her as is, but when the temperature begins to drop, it becomes harder for her to move her elbow. Even though she has this injury that she deals with everyday she still is tough but every few days she has to go into town and go to her physical therapy appointment and work with the doctors there to try and gain more control and strength in her elbow . I always knew she did it but I didn’t know what it was exactly. So after doing some research on my own I developed a vast amount of …show more content…
One important thing that I learned, that I call now beginner's luck, is when you start working out and lifting heavy you can put on a lot of muscle in a short amount of time typically between 7 month to a year. Also note how I say lifting heavy. Now here is a like education there are different workout with sets and reps that you do for the type of body/ability that you want. So because of my genetics I have a higher metabolism which can be used to my advantage but also a disadvantage but that's for a different time. See at the time I didn't care how I looked I just wanted to be strong I wanted in a way to be still small but insanely strong kind of like a personal surprise. So what I did was what I call a powerlifter approach. What that mean is I would only do a few basic exercises like bench, squats and deadlifts. However I would do 3 reps with 4-6 sets but with heavy weight. Since my body never picked up a weigh in my life I knew that for my beginners luck period that I would put on a lot of muscle/weight by following this routine for a year and that's what I did I was hooked it got to the point where that's all I wanted to do for my life was be one of those strong men you see on tv. So after a year I was surprised on how much weight in total I put on from sophomore year to beginning of senior year. I went from 125 to 140
Entertainment has been an established part of the American culture almost since its founding. The types of entertainment that most Americans enjoy in today's world are going to the movies, going out to eat, and exercising. Different forms of exercise vary from running and playing sports to weight lifting. Those who enjoy weight lifting can choose to do so in the privacy of their home, in a community center like the YMCA, or in a health club. At a health club one can expect to find a wide variety of people; however, some of these people add to the downside of working out at a local health club because they can be annoying and obnoxious. Three types of these annoying, obnoxious people found at the weight room of a local health club are the show-off, the know-it-all, and the wanderer; these types can be identified by their physical appearance, their social behavior, and their attitude.
My path to becoming a physical therapist starts with a bachelor's degree. This program will cover a lot of science topics, such as anatomy and pharmacology. After I complete a bachelor's degree program, I won't be qualified to work as a physical therapist until I complete the Doctorate degree program. In a Doctorate degree program, I will get to work in clinical situations, participate in internships and gain the necessary skills needed to become a licensed Physical Therapist. Licensing is done through the state that you wish to work in. If I wish to advance my career and go into teaching or research, I will need to complete a doctoral degree program. Regardless of whether I complete a doctoral program, I will be required to take continuing
The occupation of physical therapy has been around for centuries. Throughout time it has evolved greatly as a medical practice and an area of study. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as of 2012, there were 204,200 physical therapists employed throughout the United States of America.
Merging multi-literacies in Health and Physical Education could allow students to talk about topics of the genre more successfully and have knowledge of Health and Physical Education terms and language in daily life. According to Nutbeam (2000) interactive health literacy is a term which outlines the individual inspiration to maintain personal health. By teaching skills in the primary years to communicate and cope with health issues and physical activity will assist students in the schools of South Australia to know their personal requirements.

Not many sixteen years olds can say they can lift three times their body weight and over five hundred pounds. Many will create a image of a six feet, sixteen year old who weighs over two hundred twenty pounds. However in my case I'm a five-seven, hundred fifty two pound Hawaii powerlifter who started in the seventh grade summer. Powerlifting is a small growing sport of who can lift the heaviest weights based on how much you weigh. I currently am a seven time WABDL world record holder and numerous state and national record holder in Powerlifting. I compete in many Powerlifting competitions and after 3 years, i'm considered one of the more successful powerlifters in Hawaii. However success in powerlifting did not come easy, it took dedication, drive, and a skilled coach. Without these key elements I personally wouldn't have been
A newborn child’s physical and motor development is an evident progression throughout their first years and later in life. A child’s motor development is more of a slower progress, from going to gross motor skills to more fine motor skills in a few months while physical development is an apparent process. The environment affects children in their physical and motor growth, as they learn and adapt to new stimuli everyday as they develop. Separately, these developments start at different times, but function hand in hand as a child grows. Physical development is apparent at conception, early childhood, middle childhood, and adolescence; while motor development
Proponents of physical education often contend their case with these and other similar arguments, but upon closer examination of the physical education system, its true use and effectiveness are highly questionable. Those who argue that physical education is integral to the nation’s health must reexamine the nation in which we live, a nation in which more than one-third of adults are obese, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Pennsylvanian legislation has mandated physical education since 1999, but since 1999, the adult obesity rate has risen by 11%. Regardless of the proponents’ claims, physical education is not having its intended effect on public health. (Note: I am not trying to suggest that physical education is deleterious to public health. I am just showing that physical education has done a negligible job promoting health). Furthermore, physical education consumes an entire class period of a student’s day, a class period which could be spent learning one of many highly important, pertinent 21st century subjects that the Common Core has inexplicably ignored: micro and macro economics, U.S.
As the saying goes “health is wealth”, a good health is as primary a need in human life as food, clothing, and shelter. Exercise plays a key role in achieving a good health. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, exercise can be defined as the “physical activity that is done in order to become stronger and healthier”. Scott Roeben, a humorist and creator of the award-winning humor Web site, Dribbleglass.com.Scott, in his article “The Case Against Exercise” states that the claim that exercise is a good and positive thing is a ludicrous claim and is the most destructive rumor among the rumors spread upon the humankind. He believes that exercise causes human suffering rather than promoting better health and a longer life and that the hazards

Think of a world where every decision was made entirely by yourself. Think of a world without a government looking out for us and steering us in the direction that is best for us. A World like that would be utter chaos, but we might be closer to it than you may like to believe. Americans like to blame the government for their problems, but in reality they won’t even allow the government to step in and fix simple problems such as obesity in America. Americans would rather refuse help from the government, on the grounds that it takes away from their free will, when it would only take the government 3 steps; regulating the meals of the children in America, Keeping Kids Active, and providing Alternatives to the Fast Foods Restaurants to the General
Information When you think of a person who is physically fit you probably think of a sprinter, gymnast, weightlifter, football player, or basketball player. There is so much to physical fitness besides being one of those people. For decades, physiologist and fitness organizations have tried to come up with an answer and here it is. “Physical fitness- a measure of the body’s ability to function efficiently and effectively in work and leisure activities, resist hypokinetic disease (diseases from sedentary lifestyles), and to meet emergency situations .” Sometimes they add to the definition stating it is the ability to transmit genes to the next generation. Now, this is the short answer for what physical fitness it is much longer is and detailed
A lot of people are trying to build muscles in their body by working out. They work out by lifting heavy weights. However, when working out to building muscle, one needs to consume healthy foods and more proteins. After finishing a workout, the muscles in the body have microscopic tears to form in the fiber and connective tissues. This will cause the muscles to be tired and damaged. To repair the muscle, consume healthy foods and more protein. When one get enough foods in the body, the muscles will use the nutrients from the foods consumed and slowly rebuild, resulting in muscles in the body to increase size, strength, and muscle capacity. When I was in grade 9, I started to lift weight and I was new to it. After a few days of working out my body was experiencing any change. I realized that the reason my body was not experiencing change is because of what I was eating. I was not eating much protein and healthy foods. Later I started to eat foods that contain high protein and then I started to experience change, my muscles were getting bigger and stronger. Foods that contain high in protein can help to build muscles such as cottage cheese, chicken breast, whole eggs, canned tuna, etc. So therefore, having enough protein is the main key in order to build
When I first began to exercise, I was primarily trying to add size on to my body. At the time I only weighed about one hundred sixty pounds and I was six foot one inch. I was also eight teen and feeling that my lack of participating in school sporting events, as well as my abuse of alcohol and less than ideal food choices, had stunted my physical potential. With this new found feeling of inadequacy I set off on a journey that would change my life forever. The first thing I noticed when I began searching for ways to change my body, was that I was obviously going to have to buy weights if I wanted to look like the guys in the gym. So I set out and purchased the cheapest bench and set of weights I could find. I began to mimic exercises that I had seen people do on television or while walking past the gym. In a period of about a month I had already noticed a huge difference in the amount of weight that I could lift. Within the first year of unorganized lifting, as well as no change to my eating habits, I h...
The development of technology has drastically changed the way we look at physical education. Today we have learned that physical education plays a huge role in our youth and making sure they are participating but, technology has contributed to a secular decline in physical activity. Less and less children are participating in physical activity and more in video games and cell phones. Because of this our nation is becoming unhealthy, contributing to doctors prescribing more exercise as a method to becoming healthier. Another point that influences physical education is age, gender, ethnics, education, and income. Many Physical education teachers have to deal with many different children from all different places. It is extremely important that the teacher know where their students are from and how to try to teach them so they understand and can learn like everyone else. Some children may have learning disabilities and the teacher will have to know how to help this student. Some children may get left out or picked on because of age, race, gender, ect. The teacher needs to make sure that they are not left out or picked on so that this will not play a role later in life of not liking physical education and it taking a bigger effect in later life, like becoming overweight, and being afraid of gyms or working out. The history of physical education that came after WWI was greatly needed. Many men during WWI went into war unfit and could not do proper activities because they were not fit to do them, so physical educators developed conditioning programs for armed forces. “After the war, health statistics had later revealed that the nation was in poor shape 1/3 of the men were physically unfit for service” (Wuest and
