A study completed by the National Center for Education Statistics concluded that 68.4 percent of students enrolled in college immediately following high school graduation. In their four-year course, eighty percent will use alcohol, making underage consumption highly prevalent in the average college student’s life. The problem with consumption of alcohol in college is that most students drink to escape reality rather than use it for its taste. Long term effects, including death, not only affect the individual, but society. The consequences act as a domino effect, dragging people down the path of illness and social/financial insecurity.
