As the 44th president of the United States Barack Obama had a multitude of successes such as economic stabilization and Obamacare, but he also had failures such as dealing with ISIS. First, early on in Obama’s presidency helped stabilize the economy passed on from the Bush administration. After Bush had finished his term the economy was in free fall so Obama’s campaign relied heavily on fixing this problem. Once Obama was sworn into office he took an approach similar to that of Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal in which he chose to use government spending to fix the economy and keep it stable. He spent $831 billion during his presidency on programs to help balance the economy.(Gonzales 1) This was a success for the Obama Administration because …show more content…
it showed the people that Obama went through with the promises he made and this helped the population live in peace without the constant burden of the free fall economy. Another success achieved by Obama was Obamacare. Obamacare prevented the government from refusing health insurance to those who needed it due to pre existing conditions. Those who were homeless or had almost no money were covered for free while those who are low income had most of their insurance covered by the government. (Netter 2) This was successful because it prevented citizens from struggling to simply stay healthy, something that should be granted to all people. It also eventually helped by decreasing the frequency of certain diseases and conditions. Obama also failed by appeasing ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Another major change Obama made as president was the termination of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Obama ended the wars and removed troops from both areas, but after he did nothing. He left Iraq in an unstable manner causing ISIS to rise and tantalize the people and cause mass killings in Iraq and Syria that eventually led to its spread across the world. This was a failure for Obama because he appeased a situation rather than performing collective security and the situation worsened and resulted in the loss of many innocent lives across the nation. To conclude, Obama’s economic save and national improvement of health care has showed his success, but his weakness of appeasement displays his failure. As our current 45th president of the United States of America Donald Trump has created an uproar in the media with his actions and although he has some failures that are hyperbolized such as the opposition towards “dreamers”, or undocumented immigrants who came without control over their situation, he is also successful in a number of ways such as boosting the economy even more and taking action against ISIS.
Primarily, Trump’s background as a businessman called for economic prosper in the US. Obama had already help improve the economy after its 2008 crash, but he could only increase the GDP growth rate to around two percent off from the ideal three percent, but when Trump took over he raised the growth back up to three percent.(Merline 1) This was successful because Trump lived up to his expectations as a businessman to improve the economy even more than it was already improved. Also, Trump’s utilization of collective security on ISIS was a success. During Obama’s term he appeased ISIS, but during Trump’s campaign he vowed to change the situation with ISIS no matter the circumstances. Once in office, Trump began to bomb the area in order to stop ISIS from continuing their massacres in the Middle East and around the world. This was also successful for Trump because he used collective security in order to save lives and helped boost nationalism in America which it lacked before. Lastly, Trump’s refusal to accept “dreamers” is one failure of his current reign. President Trump is pushing to and has deported several undocumented immigrants who were brought to America illegally at a young age.(McHugh 1) This is unjust because, Trump cannot deny these people their right to live here when most of them have already been here for most of their lives and had no control over their breaking of the law. To conclude Trump has had many strategic successes for the US, but morally Trump is viewed as a failure due to his controversial perspectives on many
situations.
...ous statements it can be inferred that in some ways the Obama administration was like the Bush Administration in terms of foreign national policies. Obama also made poor choices by expanding on Bush policies that were already a dangerous jaunt from constitutional practices. Another thing Obama did was increase our expenditures by the billions, which can cause harm in his domestic reform agendas, and might lead to divisive and expensive foreign wars.
Americans and people around the world may wonder what caused President Bill Clinton to improve the economy in the United States of America, and actually work hard, be persistent, and have courage in the face of adversity. The majority of the American people would have thought that recently elected President Bill Clinton would have not been a “people’s president” and just wanted to be elected president to gain power, and get rich; but they were completely wrong. On the other hand, as soon as president Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore were elected into office, they immediately launched their economic strategy, which was split into three sections. The first section contained, “establishing fiscal discipline eliminating the budget deficit and keeping interest rates low”. Equally important, the second section included, “investing in people through education, training, science, and
Back in 1980, Republican president nominee Ronald Reagan pledged throughout his campaign that it was his goal to “restore the great, confident roar of American progress, growth and optimism”. Restoration, reinvigoration, and reclamation of values believed to be lost by the presidential treachery he was succeeding. Fast forward to 2008, Democratic president nominee Barack Obama did not see a need for restoration, he saw a need for new waves with his slogan “change we can believe in” after the economic destruction by W. Bush. Being such dramatic foils, the two men represent different eras of American politics. The unprecedented election of Obama severed Reagan’s seemingly everlasting legacy, signaling real changes coming to the presidency. The “Reagan Revolution” is remembered as an era of conservatism and economic peace, while Obama’s terms are viewed with mixed emotions. Obama’s impact can definitely be argued, as political information was more readily accessible in his presidency than any other in history; thanks to new technology and social communications, but since time has passed, so can Reagan’s. The use of their presidential powers is what a president is remembered for. Assessing the ranges in their backgrounds, motivations, policy creation and execution, and overall achievements, one can determine
President Obama was no different. Five weeks after the election, President Obama met with his economic and political advisors that presented him with their reports of the rapidly deteriorating economic conditions and their plan to hinder the economy from collapsing. President Obama delegated the legislative work to party members and committees because, as a former legislator, he believed that giving Congress discretion in writing the bill would contribute to its enactment (Wayne, 2013). “In general, crises, when they first occur, enhance opportunities for presidential leadership” Stephen J. Wayne stated in Rivals of Power: Presidential-Congressional Relations. “Members of Congress, much like the general public, look to the president and rally behind him” (Wayne, 2013). At first, president Obama hit the ground running after he won the election, and immediately started to figure out with his advisors on how to get the United States back on its feet again. And Congress members look up to the president just as much as American citizens do when the United States faces a crisis. Which in turn can boost the president’s and Congress’ relationship to American citizens. However, Obama’s operating style spawned criticism from both the Democrats and Republicans. The Democrats companied that he did not give much support for their
In contempt of Obama’s humble giving spirit, vivid personality, and many accomplishments, a debate is always at hand upon hearing the infamous name Barack Hussein Obama. From his place of birth, religion, and ethnicity Obama’s face a fair share of controversy. At the heels of adversity along with sheer determination to help others Obama became a leader that delivers and one of the most influential people of America. Adversity was introduced to Obama at an early age. With a Kenyan father and Caucasian mother residing in Hawaii, Obama has always stood out in numerous ways. In 1959 Barack Obama Senior was selected from a number of candidates to go to school in the US where he attended The University of Hawaii in Honolulu to
Benjamin Franklin would be thoroughly disappointed in our country if he saw it recently. With our current president, a new, upcoming spending budget, and an infectious disease spreading around. Obama’s efforts on the National security regarding ISIS and other terrorist groups have people doubting his qualifications as president (Roff, ). Citizens believe that the president is not taking enough actions to defeat these terrorists. Only thirty-four percent agree with Obama’s way of handling extremist groups and forty percent believe that America’s top priority is national security and terrorism (Roff, ). Also, many believe that Obama no longer has but is a puppet for Congress. The spending budget that is being constructed is controversial among
Because Donald Trump wanted to become a Presidential Candidate to shake up America and our way of choosing a Commander in Chief he has taken the focus off of other candidates. To me, he has done just that. In turn, he has also showcased a lot of his ignorant behavior and poor attitudes towards others. Eventually, this will affect how America votes; against Donald Trump. Furthermore, Donald Trump lacks a Presidential form of social interaction. This candidate appears to be impatient when others challenge his position on facts versus his opinions. When he dislikes someone politically or personally, Trump uses his popular attack-mode tactics to make his point. Repeatedly Donald Trump fails to be intellectually stimulating as a Presidential Candidate. Often he has a habit of stating his offensive
Donald Trump has been a bad influence to the United States that doesn’t deserve to be president. The entire thing he has done during his running doesn’t show that is able to be president. Trump is an arrogant person that doesn’t deserve to be president and doesn’t deserve to be able to run a country; he is acting like a child he is not mature to run for
Understanding and evaluating presidents’ performance often poses challenges for political experts. The nation votes one president at the time and each presidency faces different tests. The environments surrounding a presidency have a tremendous impact on the success and failure of that presidency. In addition, the president exercises his power through a check and balance system embody in the Constitution. As stated in (Collier 1959), the Constitution created a government of “separated institutions sharing power.” As a result, a president works with others institutions of the government to shape the nation’s agenda. Thus, determining a presidential performance becomes difficult, especially when it comes to comparing the performance among presidencies.
As a result of extreme hard work and perseverance followed by an unmatchable drive to succeed, Donald J. Trump has earned the right to be known as a multi-billionaire, real estate icon, and President of the United States of America. Reflecting on his life, he has faced many challenges and overcame them all. To understand how he rose to success and his journey to the top of the kingpin, it is important to recognize how he saw the American dream and pursued it. Today, many recognize him as the president, but very few can fully grasp all that he has done in his life. From his start as a real estate mogul, to his impact on the media, there are many questions as to how he became so recognizable today.
Throughout this article the author states how President Trump has been handling his new presidency. Trump has made many claims in his speeches that aren't true nor accurate. These claims include having a record high murder rate in 47 years. This is not an accurate claim because in 2015 the crime rate was 4.9 people per 100,000 compared to murder rates in the 1980s and 1990s at an 8 to 10 people per 100,000. Trump has been fact checked many times about his allegations yet he does not seem to make a difference in his approach. Many people had high hopes for Trump as president but he has been off to a rough start so far.
When president Barack Obama first walked on the biggest stage in America eight years ago a lot of Americans did not trust his words of wisdom to carry, we the people to a better United States. On January 10, 2017 President Barack Obama walked back on that same big stage now known and loved by so many to give his last and final speech, his Farewell speech. All of the non believers were certainly awoken to the actions that were taken by president Barack Obama to achieve most of what he truly dedicated his life and career to. Obama worked hard to gain the love, respect and dedication by so many loyal americans today. It definitely was not an easy task to achieve, many trials and many errors. In this analysis I will state weather or not Obama’s
The thirteen colonies were trying to be independent from Britain, and they tied to show that by having their own government system. It was not the best system, but it was a start of their own independent system. It was more like a fail rather. There were numerous reasons why it was one of America’s biggest government failures in history. Americans at the time were not very fond of a strong federal government because they thought that being independent and having strong state governments was a good idea, so it was difficult to grow as nation under the Articles of Confederation.
Jay Z launched Tidal, another platform for streaming music. Tidal has struggled to capture market share because of Spotify, Pandora, and now Apple Music. Some music industry analysts believe that Jay Z is competing against the biggest platforms in which already have millions of subscribers. Apple has 15 million users’; Spotify has 75 million customers; Deezer, a French service has 6.3 million; and, Pandora has almost 80 million users (Ingram, 2015). Jay Z may have thought he was filling a vacant niche, but truth be told there is no whole to fill in the music streaming industry.
