Love is the most powerful of all magic. It brings hope, beauty, unity, and joy into one’s life. Also, it brings pain and heartache if not nurtured, or if neglected. There are many different forms of love for example the love for a parent or a child, which is unconditional but has its own ups and downs. The kind of love shared with friends or a partner, that is built upon getting to know a person and slowly caring for them and sacrificing anything in your life for them. Regardless of the type of love showed, love brings people together in ways unexpected. The word love comes from the Old English word lufu, which come from the Old Frisian word luve. Both of these words translate to affection or desire. As Merriam Webster Dictionary states, love is strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties, while being an unselfish, loyal, and benevolent concern for the good of another. I argue that love is to be respected, that it is eternal, and that love is essential to life. Love is to be respected. As 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 states,” Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. “Eternal truth, eternal righteousness, eternal love; these only can triumph, for these only can endure.” (Joseph Barber Lightfoot). This famous quote from the English theologian speaks on how love is just as eternal as truth and righteousness. To tell someone you love them is an eternal commitment. When Jesus said that he loved his children, did he mean that he loved them only in that moment? No, he was referring to an unconditional eternal love that never fails.
