Abstract
The purpose of this research was to address specific topics regarding a career in electrical engineering. Some of the topics that will be covered are licensing, professional society history, labor statistics, and additional requirements. Although there is no federal requirement for licensing to be an electrical engineer, most states have requirements (Joyner). The professional society for electrical engineers is ISEE which stands for IAENG Society of Electrical Engineering (IAENG, n.d.) Even though electrical engineers had a 2012 median pay of $89,630, the growth outlook for the next six years is only 4%, which is less than the average (Bureau of

For instance, electrical engineering has only been around for almost 130 years. (Columbia University, n.d.). With the advancing of technology at such an extreme rate, the argument about what engineering degree is better or more important is growing with it. This paper intends to explore the roles of electrical engineers, discuss the professional society of electrical engineering, and research the labor statistics associated with electrical engineering. The book definition of engineering is “the application of science and mathematics by which the properties of matter and the sources of energy in nature are made useful to people” ("Engineering", n.d.). Although the book definition makes sense, it doesn’t explain the how in the definition. For instance, WhatisEngineering.com explains engineering as a way to solve real world problems to improve the world using math and science (What is Engineering, n.d.). Electrical engineers do the above task with the fields of electricity and electromagnetism. Many of the careers in electrical engineering focus around power generation and distribution. Electrical Engineers may be in R&D to find new ways to use power to improve products, or they could be installing electrical components in products to insure specifications are met (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2014). Either way engineers go, they almost always consult with other engineers to get the job done (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2014). Although there are a lot of jobs available for electrical engineers, many positions are left open due to high standards in qualification
Students studying engineering will always find the subject interesting and will find internships and employment quickly after their graduation. It is the area of study which is amazing and innovative at the same time because it is the future world and people studying engineering know all the future technologies first, get to enjoy that technology before the whole world, it is for those kind of people who liked to challenge in all aspects of life as they find the area of study more interesting than other engineering students because it is how you learn things and enhance the knowledge and
...uire engineers to have a higher degree of education, like if they want to work as the head technician the requirement goes from a bachelor’s to a master’s degree. Every year that the engineers work they are required to do certain tests to make sure that they are proficient with the equipment that they use in there labs.

Technology is advancing rapidly, and as a consequence, the job market in electrical engineering is changing. Jobs that are available now require a new set of skills and capabilities that did not exist at the time students have started their studies. Furthermore, students would have a more prosperous future in an industrial environment if classes have prepared them to adopt readily new work and job duties that they will encounter during their careers.
...p technology working properly; system engineers rely on their ability to think about a system comprehensively and application engineers are required to be resourceful. Although learning electrical engineering does make job-hunting much easier, engineers must pass a radical examination to receive their licenses. In order to get the licenses, I will have to complete a minimum number of years on the job.
The word engineer comes from the latin word ingeniare. ingeniare means construct or craftsmanship. Ever since the beginning of time we have had engineers. Engineering is the combination of math and science , solving world problems to help better the world around us. Being an engineer takes a lot of knowledge, creativity, and hard work. A typical engineer can clearly see a problem and is capable of fining a solution. A senior engineer or engineering manager usually doesnt do as much technical work, but usally lot of managing. Some of the first official engineers were military engineers. They were employed by the goverment to build such things as roads, bridges, and weapons. US mililary Academy at Westpoint was the first school to offer an education in enginnering. Engineering is a very broad field. Engineers are always at a high demand, we could never have enough brilliant minds making the world better. Engineers are needed everywhere. Engineering managers have to have a bachelor's degree or higher, they usually direct and seek solutions to problems and are sometimes called executi...
Electrical Engineers research, develop, design, and test electronic components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, medical, military, and scientific applications (Cosgrove 749). They are concerned with devices that use small amounts of electricity that make up electronic components such as integrated circuits and microprocessors. By applying principles and techniques of electronic engineering they design, develop, and manufacture products such as computers, telephones, radios, and stereo systems (EGOE, 121). Electrical engineers touch everyone lives through the things they have designed or created. Electrical engineers have invented the lights in your house, the television, the stereo, the telephone, computers, and even your doctor’s blood pressure gauge (Stine 300).
My decision to become an electrical engineer was not a decision I took too long ago. It is something that I decided to pursue when I entered a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) high school. It was then that I realized how much I enjoyed working with computers and building circuits, and the fact that this career involved many subjects. Doing a lot of research to understand better what it meant to be an Electrical Engineer, I found out that in order to succeed in this career one had to know a little bit of everything. In other words, subjects such as science and math are essential to know if someone wants to be successful electrical engineer. An electrical engineer is someone who finds practical solutions to everyday problems that involve electricity, such as computers, cell phones, among other electrical equipments. In order to create a useful device one must know where to start and this is where science comes in. An electrical engineer must be able to use the scientific method, which means; one must form a procedure, test it out, and write a conclusion. These parts of the scientific method must be written clearly, so that others can recreate and test out a device or project. Math also plays a key role in this area of study, because one must be precise when creating a new device that others are going to use. For example, if one were to create a new type of cell phone one must know a lot of math in order to be able to progr...
I am an ambitious young Saudi with a Bachelor’s degree in Power Systems and Electric from the College of Technology in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Through my academic and professional experiences, I have come to believe that only with hard work and determination can one realize his ambitions and dreams, and that failure to do so is only due to a loss of stamina or motivation. For me, my dream is to join (name of university) to attend the Electrical Engineering program, for it is my belief that by attending your program, I will be better equipped to conduct detailed theoretical and practical research in the science, and upon commencing my studies, I will possess the necessary skills and knowledge to function as a well-informed engineer and to contribute effectively towards researching, promoting and implementing innovated electrical engineering concepts and techniques that can assist in the advancement of the science.
An electrical engineer can work in a variety of engineering industries: Aerospace, Automotive, Chemical, Construction, Defence, Electronics, Consumer Goods, Marine, Materials & Metals, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceuticals, Power Generation, Rail, Telecoms, and Utilities. Electrical engineers can work for corporations, non-profit organizations, or government agencies. They can also become managers, patent attorneys, professors, or work in the financial
Electrical engineering, I believe, is the only field where one’s work becomes the most instrumental part of one’s mundane activity and life, and the output produced stays forever to credit. My perception is that, this field requires a lot of patience, perseverance and management skills in order to be successful. The connection that electrical engineering offered between me and this world is the fact that you can become a person who can impact so many lives. This made me pursue Electrical Engineering. After four years of undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering, I feel completely satisfied with my decision to choose this branch of engineering as my career option as it has revealed the most pragmatic and down-to-earth approach to tackling
I want you to think back to what might be the greatest invention ever. Dependant upon how well you know your history you could possibly say the wheel, the car, the airplane, the television, the autonomous robot. All of these are great ideas that have different eras in history, but they all have something in common, these creations were all invented by engineers. Do not get the misconception that engineers have been around since the dawn of time but the concept of engineering itself has. Those great revolutionaries all had ideas and solved problems which are still qualities that engineers of this day and age use. Webster defines engineering as, “the work of designing and creating large structures or new products or systems by using scientific methods.” Those people created new products so they would today be considered engineers, but they are slightly different. What makes them different is the field that they would be considered a part of. The broadest one of the oldest forms is mechanical engineering, which is my future profession.
Engineers are valuable assets to any company because they think analytically. Engineers may advance to become technical specialists or to supervise a staff or team of engineers and technicians. Some eventually become engineering managers or enter other managerial or sales jobs.
Depending on the particular field of engineering, engineers might find themselves testing, maintaining, and using computers to design products. Other engineers, however, might find themselves on construction sites, monitoring, directing, and solving issues on-site. A license in engineering is required for an engineer who offers their services to the public, obtained by passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam after graduating from college as well as the Principles and Practicing of Engineering exam after enough work experience is gained. Similarly, a US citizenship is almost always required for an engineer working for the federal government (“Engineers”).
From my perspective, excellent electronic engineers are a group of gifted and imaginative talents who bravely explore and innovate, change the world with passion and innovation. I have always dreamed of becoming one of them. For realizing this dream, I started from China 's Jilin University and then joined The University of Manchester for BEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering to take more advanced professional courses. In UoM, I managed to gain GPA of 4.0. Yet, my pursuit of the dream does not end there, since I plan to apply for M.S. program in Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Carnegie Mellon University, where I can receive the best education among the world.
