What Is Astrology
Astrology is the study of planetary influences and their affect on the world and
everything in it. Astrology is usually limited to human beings--their nature,
and their affairs, although a chart can be drawn up for just about any event.
The horoscope is a blue print or pattern of the solar system cast for a
particular moment of time. It is from this that the astrologer bases the
interpretation or delineation as indicated by the nature of the sun, moon, and
planets.
The natal horoscope is a chart drawn at the moment of birth to see and
understand the nature and makeup of the soul of the newborn as it takes
residence in the physical vehicle or body. The human soul is a focal point of
cosmic energy, and the pattern of the heavens, as charted in the horoscope, is
the means the soul comes to know itself and its destiny.
Astrology points the way to soul development and growth. The soul's strengths
and weaknesses are noted in the horoscope. Life is an opportunity given to soul
for further enhancement.
Because the heavens are in constant motion, and because this motion is quite
ordered and exact, it is possible to project the positions of the sun, moon, and
planets for any given time. Astrologers use this information to draw-up a
horoscope and forecast the "influences" that will affect the soul at that time.
Astrologers usually do not predict actual events in the future. They can only
say what might happen, or could happen, but not what will happen--much like a
weather forecast; although many psychics do make predictions, and astrology is
the tool they use to focus their abilities.
Another common feature of astrology is the comparison of birth charts to
ascertain the compatibility of two people. This is a straightforward method used
by over-laying one chart upon the other. The aspects or angles formed by the
planets are then analyzed to determine how the energy fields of each person
blend together.
The zodiac calendar is an astrological theory that divides the path that the sun seems to follow around the earth into twelve equal sections, each of which are associated with a sign, a symbol and a personality type. John Gardner embraces this astrological theme in his parallel novel, Grendel, by connecting each of the twelve chapters to its coinciding zodiac.

Pictures of the sun and moon were found in several Suffolk churches and the churches themselves were built to face the rising sun.
Birth order is a key element in gaining an understanding of one's self as well as other people. Through birth order placement, one develops a behavior pattern as well as ways of thinking and emotional responses. This effects all aspects of living such as, expectations, mental weaknesses, marriage, and spirituality. Understanding the birth order characteristics is a simple method in determining how and what makes another individual "tick."
A soul has always been thought of as that part of us that makes a human, a human. We believe that if we are good we will go to heaven and if we are bad we will go to hell, at least, that 's what the Christian religion is that I was raised as growing up. But I had always wondered if that was it and there was more to it than that. I was right, getting information from BuddhaSasana, and an article was written titled "Is there an Eternal soul?". The article goes on to explain that apparently we humans don 't have a soul and we are not born with one and no God has ever created one. What we call our personality and ourselves is technically our soul. A very interesting metaphor that is used in this article was
Through the course of these last few weeks, we as a class have discussed the Soul, both in concept, and as it applies in terms of our readings of The Phaedo and as a philosophical construct. But the questions involved in that: In the ideas of good, of living a ‘good’ life and getting ‘rid of the body and of their wickedness’, as ‘there is no escape from evil’, (Phaedo, 107c), in whether or not the soul is immortal, or if our bodies themselves get in the way of some higher form of knowledge, or even of the importance of philosophy itself are rather complex, simultaneously broad and specific, and more than a little messy. While I discuss these aspects, the singular question that I feel applies to this is, in a sort of nihilistic fashion, does
It was not up until 200 years ago that people started identifying their zodiac sign with the position of the Sun. So when a person is asked what is his or sign, the Sun was passing through on the day that person was born. This can be demonstrated on a birth chart. Our birth charts are special "sky maps" which reflect the quality of the exact moment we drew our first breath. With that first breath, we each began our own incredible hero's journey through life on planet Earth. The birth positions of the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto all play their own unique symbolic roles as messengers and ambassadors of the universe.
The soul can be defined as a perennial enigma that one may never understand. But many people rose to the challenge of effectively explaining just what the soul is about, along with outlining its desires. Three of these people are Plato, Aristotle, and Augustine. Even though all three had distinctive views, the similarities between their views are strikingly vivid. The soul indeed is an enigma to mankind and the only rational explanation of its being is yet to come and may never arrive.
Throughout the centuries, “the soul vs. the body” has been a recurring theme that philosophers and theologians alike have grappled with in their works. Religious texts, such as the Bible and Augustine’s City of God, use the terms “spirit” and “flesh” to characterize the dichotomy. Rule of the flesh is essentially giving into sin while not giving into sin is exercising the spirit’s control over the flesh. In the Greek philosophical tradition, Aristotle and Plato equate the soul’s activity with contemplation, or reasoning, while the body’s domination of the soul is yielding to the extremes of vice. Despite having slightly different names and definitions, these thinkers all seem to agree that it is best for the soul to be in control of the body.
The relationship of the human soul and physical body is a topic that has mystified philosophers, scholars, scientists, and mankind as a whole for centuries. Human beings, who are always concerned about their place as individuals in this world, have attempted to determine the precise nature or state of the physical form. They are concerned for their well-being in this earthly environment, as well as their spiritual well-being; and most have been perturbed by the suggestion that they cannot escape the wrongs they have committed while in their physical bodies.
Modern day astrology is meant to be a philosophy to put into detail different aspects of life instead of predicting the future. To begin my argument I will define my concept of the human soul and the physical body which is akin to that of Descartes. Descartes made the distinction that the mind and the body are two separate things. The mind being a thinking non-extended thing and the body being a non-thinking extended thing. In which he concludes that the mind can exist without the body (Skirry). The words, mind, and soul in this case are interchangeable and demonstrate two distinct parts that make up an individual person.
