What Is Animal Testing Inhumane

Have you ever been to a store and wondered if a certain product was tested on animals? Many times the product is ‘cruelty free’ but at times you may run past a product that probably was tested on animals! I believe that animal testing is very inhumane and cruel and should be illegal throughout the states. In all, animal testing is very expensive which is a waste of government research dollars that could be used for a better benefit. Even though some say that animals are much like humans, which is why they should be tested on, they actually share many different traits and characteristics.
The first reason why animal testing should be illegal is because it is very cruel and inhumane. According to the article, “Humane Society International”

on Procon.org, it states, “experiments are commonly subjected to force feeding, forced inhalation, food and water deprivation, prolonged periods of physical restraint, the infliction of burns and other wounds to study the healing process, the infliction of pain to study its effects and remedies, and “killing be carbon dioxide asphyxiation, neck breaking, decapitation, or other means.”” This evidence from the article shows me the sad and terrible effects of testing on animals and how inhumane tests can be. It proves that animals are affected mentally and physically for the worse.
Another reason why animal testing should be illegal is because it is super expensive and is a waste of government research dollars. During every experiment, scientists spend thousands of dollars for many failures. According to the ‘Humane Society International’, it stated, “A unscheduled DNA synthesis animal test costs $32,000, while the in vitro alternative costs $11,000”. This shows that animal testing can get really expensive and the alternative tests would save the governments and and companies a lot of money to conduct more beneficial experiments without animals.
Some people and companies say that animals are much like humans which is why they should be the subject of an experiment. But according to the article, "Life Science Technologies: Animal-Free Toxicology: Sometimes, in Vitro is Better”, it stated, “The anatomic, metabolic, and cellular differences between animals and people make animals poor models for human beings.” This evidences shows that animals are very different from humans when it comes to their genetics and their structures inside their bodies. Therefore, animals are still very different from humans, so an experiment that does test on animals for human products can lead to failures and waste a bunch of money and the life of the animal that was tested.
In conclusion, animal testing is very inhume and is such a waste of the governments and companies money that could have put forth into better use. It is very sad that animals are put through such harsh treatments to just fulfill a human’s needs rather than theirs. Overall, animal testing should be issued as illegal and should be considered a crime throughout the states!
