What Is Abigail Williams Flaw In The Crucible

635 Words2 Pages

In Arthur Miller’s play, The Crucible, Miller demonstrated that it was Abigail’s spitefulness, lust and envy that led her to be most responsible for the tragedy of the witch-hunt in Salem. Abigail Williams was the metaphorical vehicle of the play. Abigail’s strive to be Mrs. Proctor led to the devastation of farms and the broken families that did confide in the town of Salem. In The Crucible, Abigail tries to be as spiteful as possible. Williams takes advantage of every weakness of each character. One of the best ways she showed this flaw was the scene in which she used the needle as a prop in her plot to rid John Proctor of his wife, Elizabeth. “Stuck two inches in her belly, he draw a needle, she testify it were your wife’s familiar spirit.”
