The Good Life People may say that the “Good Life”, is what you make to be; that in order to have a good life you have to work hard, get and education and be kind to others, others may say that you have to follow the laws given by God and you may have a good life along with a long an peaceful life. While other may just simply go with the flow; for this paper, two excerpts were read The Republic and The Human Search for Meaning which are supposed to bring an understanding on how to achieve the “wealth” of the soul that will allow the readers to experience the “Good life” as Plato and his thinkers. The Ring of Gyges In The Ring of Gyges, Plato speaks about being just and unjust. In the excerpt mentioned, it said there are two kinds of people; people who are just and they are just by force and not willingly and the unjust, that will live an unjust life and will continue to live that life because they know that they are able to get away with it; in The Republic, it mentions that if ever caught, these unjust people are very agile and are able to talk and find a way out of any situations which allows them to succeed in life and live a “Good Life” This leads to the question does a person always act for personal gain?
