In my life, I have done things that show my skills in the workforce that could be useful to employers. The first skill that I learned through track and cross country was my leadership skills. As I have gone through the years of running, I learned to be motivated and ready to work hard and I used those skills to be a leader by leading warm-ups, helping new runners to the team and showing them around, and by leading our team to the starting line and showing the course to the new runners. My mom at some points will need to leave the house to go grocery shopping and sometimes I am left in charge of my brothers and sister by providing them help when they need sometimes a meal when it is needed and care towards my siblings. Probably the best skill that I have learned is goal setting. For my sophomore year of track, I and my 4x800m relay team went into the season wanting one goal, to make it to the MHSAA State Track Meet which would be a great accomplishment for our running careers. We all worked really hard, knowing that we had to in order to accomplish our goal, and we eventually ended up running at the state meet after a whole …show more content…
When I went into the sixth grade, my mom always showed me how to stay organized, so when I got to the school, I went to my locker and began to organize my locker and all my binders to be sure I would be ready for the school year. I always would put my books and the binder with that certain class together so they would be easy to grab knowing where they were at and I would keep all my writing utensils on the top shelf and all my apparel on the racks and my backpack there as well. I am also very organized when it comes to putting my equipment on and off and into my gym locker, I always put everything in a certain spot so I know where it will be putting my shorts and the ground with all my deodorant and my body spray and my shoes with my shirt hung on a
I am a runner. I was selected to be a cross country captain for my senior year and I had set myself a realistic goal of being one of the top five finishers at the state meet in the fall. I never had the thought that I could not do it; I knew I was going to be up there with the best. When the state meet came and I traveled with the team as captain, that race became one of the most memorable of my cross country career but not for the reasons I expected.
My goal at the beginning of the year was to have a good start to the season and a good finish to the season. I had a good start at Cortez, where I won the first rodeo and placed ...
Finally, leadership, my most valuable skill. Leadership is useful in any career and any situation. In band, I've used it a lot. Now that I'm going into the real world and my career, I know I will use it even more. My leadership has rewarded me personally. I feel like I have already made a difference in the lives of my peers. Leadership can get me anywhere in life and I expect that this alone could get me all the way to my college graduation. These skills in combination will keep me on top, and hopefully at the top of my college
... to play baseball for a few hours each week. I couldn't wrap my mind around the fact that everyone doesn't love baseball, so I naturally assumed that I was just better than most kids. Of course I woke up to reality a few years later, when I proved that although I was a good player, I was a far cry from being a superstar. It wasn't a crushing defeat however, as my life's aspirations began to change.
...tournament and placed 4th and I had an all-around good season. I have already set goals for my senior year. I plan on winning state and having another successful season. I want to look back on my high school career and remember how well I played and the great people that I have met.
One goal that it has allowed me to achieve was a high school team state champion title for bowling in February of 2015. Our team’s journey to state started off needing to place in the top 4 at the high school regional. I was really proud of my team members because we kicked off a huge first place win to advance to sectionals the following weekend. At sectionals we did the same thing. We placed first, which set us up for a trip to state. I was amazed at the young talent level that we had and our potential to win a state title. While at state we set three different goals. The goals included a state record for the score of three games, a state record for the score of six games and a state record for one game. Individually I placed second out of 77 total competitors. State is set up by having twenty four high school teams from around the state bowl twelve total games; six games on Friday and six on
After middle school, my next goal was to become the star at my high schools basketball team. Unfortunately when I arrived the talent was much greater than it was in high school. There were kids in my grade who were dunking and at the time, and I could barely touch the net. Undaunted by the task I participated in a scrimmage with the Varsity team. The first time I got the ball I was open, so I shot the ball and missed the shot. I still kept my head up and after missing my first three shot attempts I decided that it was not my night so I tried to have a positive impact on
My biggest accomplishment in my life would had been when I received my certification as a nursing assistant. The reason being, I had failed the first time; I passed the written part, but failed the physical task part. I was depressed for months - I didn't hang out with friends, hardly ate, and I didn't even feel the need to continue trying to get my certification. Sadly, during those depressed months, I had to wait until I was able to retake the physical which also costed me another $80 (no one wants to hand out that amount of money when you are already upset failing the first time). When I first received the news I had failed it was a terrible feeling, and I felt like a complete failure. Though, after retaking my physical and passing - I felt
A goal I achieved was when I graduated from high school many years ago. I was the first one in my family to graduate from high school. It was a big accomplishment for me and my mom. Graduating was my goal. I wanted to make my mom proud, life happens I couldn't go to college then but I told myself one day I will full field my dream to have a career. I meet my career advisor at a job fair and am here enrolled to be a medical assistant. My new goal is to work real hard to get the best grades I can possibly get and to have perfect attendance at the end off the medical assistant program. Am going use my time wisely, get all my work done in time and ask for help if I don't understand something.
While working or while looking for work there are certain skills sets that are universally important. No matter what job or career path you have chosen these skills make it easier to obtain your goals, whatever they may be.
For my team the end goal was to be the best in the state and prove that by winning the state championship. My junior year we were extremely close to that goal, but came up short. What’s important is finding the motivation to go the extra mile and persevere through hardships. Motivation is what we needed for my senior year and we pushed as hard as we could. That motivation allowed us to win the state championship. For a job in the medical field the final goal is always to make the patient as comfortable as possible and be effective in providing
First event that I accomplished was when I got my high school diploma. Even though finishing high school was not an easy task for me, those days were the best moments of my life. I always knew that if I would finish high school and then hold the diploma in my hands I would always make my parents and of course feel very proud. My parents are proud because I am their oldest child and I am the first who graduated high school successfully. This is my first year in college, I am majoring biology, and some day I would have not a high school graduation but I would be a graduate from college. My dream is to be a physician assistant. I hope that some day I will achieve all of my goals. When I would get my degree it would be one of my greatest accomplishments.
Even though I'm naturally messy and want to hoard objects, I need to learn how to become organized or else I'll suffer the consequences in the
I quickly learned at a very young age the value of hard work. Both of my parents had worked hard to achieve their dreams of a nice home, cars, and financial stability. Their working hard not only paid off financially, but they taught my two brothers and I, that working hard was imperative to life. I was given a set of chores and an allowance every week, which taught me responsibility and how to manage money. I also realized that cooperation goes hand in hand with hard work. My brothers and I would help each other with our chores from time to time. I did not know that cooperation works on a larger scale in the workplace, that sometimes one needs help to achieve their ultimate goal.
The skill that I am the best at or at least would give myself the highest score in would be showing empathy. I am not sure why I am skilled in this it just seems to come naturally to me. I have always found myself to be a very empathetic person who is able to understand the thoughts, feelings, beliefs and, attitudes of others almost as well as my own. One way that I have shown empathy is by being open to learning about the experiences of others including other cultures, races and religions. Learning about struggles of others and the impact their struggles have on the world as a whole has increased my ability to show empathy. I think that my empathetic nature has both helped me and hurt me in my life. It has helped me as a counselor, as
