To succeed this time I will make sure I am on top of everything. I used to struggle with assignments as I started them way too late. This time when I got my first assignment I made sure that I would start as soon as possible. Starting sooner helped my essay become much better as I found the errors and fixed them. I used to get bad grades in all my essays as I had too many common mistakes on them. I used to starting doing my essays just a few hours before the class started and I would not have enough time to even rise. Now I make sure that I use the tutors that are available in the university to go through my essays to get a decent mark on them. I will also make sure that I do all of the readings so that I understand what is going in class. …show more content…
My essays would always get worse marks as my vocabulary was so weak. One of the other major reasons I did not succeed the last time I took English was because I did not show up to class. I missed so many classes that I had no idea what was due and when. Now I make sure that I show up to every class and because of that I learn more and I get everything done on time. I used to struggle to start with my essays as I was not clear what the question was and I was always scared to ask the teacher. Now I make sure I clearly understand the material. I lost a bunch of marks because I did not do what the essay was asking me to. Knowing what is expected to be get the job done correctly helps me to get a good grade. I will also make sure that ones I get my essay back I will learn from my mistakes and not repeat then in the next essay that is due. Last time I took English 100 I would make the same mistakes and get a bad grade for it. I realized making the same mistake is pointless and easy to fix. Now I also make sure that I do not lose my previous assignment as I could learn from them when the midterm and final
The first day of my junior year I was extremely overwhelmed by this class; all the essays we were required to write in the first week didn't help much either. However, since the beginning of the year I have learned so many useful and important lessons which have guided my learning throughout this first semester and, I'm assuming, will continue to guide me for the rest of my high school experience and beyond. In addition, I have made many goals which pertain to essays I have written, and I believe I have met those goals.
Throughout this semester we have had to write many types of essays. Although this is a college English class there is still room for improvement. I made much improvement during the semester of the class. I was able to identify my weaknesses. I learned how to make improvements to the areas I was having problems in. Although each essay we did was different I was able to begin with one essay and throughout the semester turn it into two other essays. I was able to change my style of writing to fit the type of audience I was working with. I will continue to work on my writing and keep improving it.
Writing essays was never my forte, it just never came easy to me like it would to others. Since other subjects came easy to me and I had to focus more than others on writing, I had a negative attitude toward the process as a whole. During this summer semester, I was able to grow as a writer, and gain a more positive attitude toward how I write and a better feel for writing in college. Writing a paper is a process in which there are many different stages. In high school I would never write outlines or any sort of pre planning work. Other struggles I encountered in my writing were my theses, and framing quotes.
A process is used to make a task simpler by dividing the task into parts that can be done individually. When you start writing an essay from beginning from end, you get stuck figuring out how to write introduction and it discourages to finish the essay before you have started. Instead start writing the body paragraphs, conclusion and then write the introduction. The first draft is never perfect visit writing centers for help or ask others to help revise your essay. Also reading your paper out loud gives you a better understanding what the paper sounds like and corrections that need to be made. Often times when we read a paper in our minds we skip over the mistakes or correct mistakes without knowing it. Correcting your essay many times will help complete your ideas in your essay, this helps the reader to be able to follow the ideas in the essay and not get lost. By doing these steps you better understand why you are writing an essay and the next steps to take.
Firstly, My strength may not be vocabulary but I try my very best to make my point even with simple words. Many students have a difficult time creating essays that
“We learn more by looking for the answer to a question and not finding it than we do from learning the answer itself.” People go through their whole lives trying to figure out who they are, look for a sense of purpose or belonging, or attempt to discover the right path for them-self. The lucky ones have somehow found what ever it is they were looking for throughout their journey. They try to teach the people who are still looking how to find their way but often fail because it is not up to them where or how someone else should live their life. It is up to the individual himself to find fulfillment.
I was never a person that liked to write essays. This semester I really enjoyed writing those essays and specially because I was learning new things while writing them. Some things I could do to improve my essay writing are not to wait till the last three or four days before I turn my essay in to start doing it. Another thing I will do is if I forget how to do something or about some rule in the common errors I made I will just go back to all the lessons I printed out to have as reference. I think those will help me allot. And one last thing I will do to improve my writing is to try my best not to confuse all those words I got confused. I will do my best to learn each word and its rule of where it goes so I won’t have the same mistakes I had this semester.
Many of my errors that have I reliesed that I reduced while I went through the semester with my papers was my grammer. When I first started in English 101 I
When I think about what counts as learning to me, I think about my life. Just being able to live in this world to me is a learning experience, because I feel that my life is full of lessons and I believe that it takes lessons to learn in life. I feel that I have learned to understand learning more and to also understand the value of learning. As I get older I can comprehend subject matters more than I could ever do before. I am learning to be more serious and I find myself not taking life for granted anymore.
The greatest difficulty that I came across doing the first essay was retracing the past, retracing the sadness. Having to bring back sad memories that made my life terrible at the time. Doing the essay, I learned that I have gone through a lot of crap. I was sinking in quicksand and now I stand on the quicksand like it is rock solid. I am proud of myself. I was able to turn my life around and be the person that I am today. I might have the potential to be a good writer someday. People compliment on my writing skills every now and then when I write something long. That makes me feel like a real student. I say that because an old History teacher of mine used to tell kids to be students when they were not doing their work.
One of the most important things I have learned my own is that life is very short and time is fast, so make your life sweet and worth it. It seems like yesterday I stepped into my first grade class, but I will shortly be off to college in just two years. Time flies so fast! I do not regret anything that I have done in the past, but I truly regret that I have always been unwilling to attempt new or unfamiliar things. I never broke any rules nor came out of the comfort zone.
However, thanks to my teacher and classmates, they helped me a lot by teaching me the techniques I need to follow to write effective essay. At this time I learned how to brainstorm, how write outline, draft, revise and final drafting. Learning all this process of writing essay gave me some confidence in my self writing my second profile essay writing
Tormenting yourself on what to write. Looking at a blank document doesn’t make it any easier. Repeating the same thing over and over in your head about how bad you are at this, scratching your head, biting your nails because at this point you start to wonder if going to college is really worth it. And as you start to finally write random thoughts, it suddenly becomes a bit less complicated. I have discovered that as long as you start to write anything and stop being so critical about your writing, believing that something good will come out of your essay, sometimes
I remember English class in high school and I thought it would be the same information so this class would just be a review and the hardest assignment would be to write a one page essay. I thought I could write any paper and make a A on it. As the time went by I realize this was not true. I started working on my attitude towards the class, what I learned and my weakness.
As I received essay 3 back, I realized I had the same mistakes from all my previous papers. I have a habit of missing words in my sentences. Usually when I write papers, I spend hours typing away at the computer screen. My words run into each other and everything made sense to me. The teacher suggested I read my papers out loud and that’s what I plan to do in the future. I also think time management contributes to this problem. In the future, I plan to manage my time more wisely so I can have time to come back to my essays and revise them. Hopefully my writing mistakes will diminish if I stick to this
