Woman gets fired after her body-positive shoot went viral
(-- removed HTML --)
Women fight a constant battle to love the skin they’re in - regardless of what that looks like. After one woman’s wedding shoot in Tyler, Texas went viral, her employer was quick to let her go. Here’s what happened.
The shoot
Wolf & Rose Photography photographed Stephanie and Arryn in an outdoor, boudoir-inspired wedding shoot. The two are getting married February 2019, and they wanted a shoot that reflected their loving relationship.

The reaction
Shortly after the photography company posted the photo shoot online, it received praise for its body positivity. Stephanie, a plus-sized woman, was a striking representation

The bank was not a fan of her wedding shoot, calling it inappropriate and stating that this behavior didn’t fit within the “family-oriented” vision of the business.
Ironically, Stephanie was five months pregnant at the time of the shoot, and firing her from said “family-minded” business almost seems in direct contrast to a company who claims to prioritize family values.
The photographer, Bria Terry, is disappointed with the bank’s reaction, questioning the bank’s morality when they can let go of a woman who is getting ready to raise a child. Terry, however, remains steadfastly proud of the attention the shoot has received and says the termination was worth it when it comes to highlighting the many different body types and breaking of traditional stereotypes.
The effect
Stephanie called her termination disheartening, reiterating how her work life is a separate entity from her social life. She previously stated that she was a model employee who was hoping to move up in the company.
On a happier note, Stephanie says the shoot made her feel beautiful and confident, creating an eye-opening experience. She has truly shown women the meaning of self-care and self-love, regardless of what others

She writes that even though some researchers conclude that body size is genetically determined, they still say large individuals should try to lose weight, but it may be futile. She calls them out and says they cannot align their findings with what they believe personally.

“To me, beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin. It's about knowing and accepting who you are. I’m happy being who I am. I’m confident, I live honestly and truthfully.” (DeGeneres 6). This quote is crucial for the reader to keep in mind, for it completely embodies the essence of Ellen DeGeneres, her life, and what she stands for: confidence, honesty, and happiness. This is one example of the many wise and inspiring words of Ellen DeGeneres. The inspiring qualities of Ellen DeGeneres are not limited to her words; her actions inspire and influence the same. Many of these inspiring actions originated from her rugged road to fame. Released in 2014, Meghan released the song “All about that bass” that was a number one success on the billboard charts and still one of the most watched videos on youtube. However, while this is all well and good for the pop singer, the song itself doesn’t come across as a positive message for body acceptance. Through lyrics that are one-hand uplifting, but then suddenly come across as entirely an attack on thinner women, and imagery like the “plastic dolls” and the role of the thinner women within the music video, this creates conflicting images and overall begs to question as to what the exact message of the video is. On one hand, Meghan is displaying body positivity for round women, but at the same time, projects the message that, perhaps,
