This hit was carried out by the same Latino gang members who had previously done a drive-by shooting of a rival gang. The officers were enticed towards their imminent deaths with a car chase which was set up by the Latino gang members. This chase led them towards an apartment complex which was rigged with many gang members and artillery to ensure that neither Taylor nor Zavala would survive. The crime he committed was terrible and obviously something that could only be done with someone who lacks any good intentions. His behavior during the his trial also showed the extent of his maliciousness. He half-heartedly attempted to defend himself by claiming the prosecutors were using false evidence and that, according the records of the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, “Nobles concludes that he was denied the fundamentally fair and impartial trial guaranteed him by the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment”. He put very little effort into defending himself during the trial and was quickly sentenced to death. In the early years of his time in prison he was far from the ideal prisoner. Earle presents how “He once broke away from guards while returning to his cell from the exercise yard and climbed the exposed pipes and bars in the cell block, kicking down television sets suspended outside on the bottom tier.” and on another occasion he cut himself just so he could hit an officer while they were attending to him before he passed out. This kind of behavior was completely eradicated long before he was executed, procuring him the respect of the prison

Hernandez went over to a gas station, the Shamrock, to buy something, and when he didn't return DeLuna went over to see what was going on.Mrs.Lopez was killed while on the phone with the police, having just called 911 reporting a suspicious person. Police found DeLuna hiding in a truck a few blocks away. DeLuna told the jury that he saw Hernandez inside the Shamrock wrestling with a woman behind the counter. DeLuna said he was afraid and started to run. He had his own police record for sexual assault. "I just kept running because I was scared, you know." When he heard the sirens of police cars screeching towards the gas station he panicked and hid under a pickup truck where, 40 minutes after the killing, he was arrested.(Pilkington) DeLuna always maintained that he didn't do it, but waited until his tr...

A pretrial plea bargain was given to Bundy, which was Bundy would plea guilty to the murders of killing Levy, Bowman and Leach. In exchange, Bundy would be sentenced to prison for a firm 75 years. He ultimately declined the offer and decided with trying to win the case, which was not a smart move by Bundy. Bundy thought the prosecutors had no evidence from the Chi Omega sorority, but what he’s about to find out ruins his life. No evidence was recovered at the Chi Omega sorority house like Bundy thought, but two crucial testimonies from sorority members played a big role. Connie Hastings believed she saw Bundy in the house that night, while Nita Neary stated that she saw him escaping the house clasping the oak firewood murder weapon. These testimonies showed that Bundy was in the house and was in the house around the same time of the murders. But with no physical evidence, Bundy could not be found guilty. What Bundy didn’t realize was that there was a piece of evidence from the sorority crime scene. While investigators examined the scene, one officer found the bite marks on Levy’s buttocks. The officer picked up a yellow marker ruler and took photographs of the bite mark. By the time the trial had started the bite mark disappeared, because the tissue around Levy’s buttocks had gone back to its normal color, size and shape. Prosecutors took the photos to forensic odontologist Dr. Richard Souviron.

In 1999, a home invasion occurs where two burglars break in and kill Clyde Shelton’s wife and daughter. A terrifying incident that happened simply by Shelton opening the door without checking for who was entering. He and his wife were tied down while being stabbed, and their daughter was taken away (we assume she is killed as well). Shelton seeks justice from prosecutor Nick Rice, but Rice is unable to find any evidence against the two robbers. Rice is a high ranked prosecutor with a high conviction rate. He wishes to keep his stats high by making a deal with one of the robbers, Clarence Darby, to a lesser charge if he testifies against his partner in crime, Rupert Ames. Shelton gains knowledge of this deal for Rice’s career and feels as if he is cheated by the law system and plots for revenge. Ten years later, one of the robbers, Ames, is being executed for another crime and is put to death by a toxic injection. Normally this type of execution is meant to be painless, but in this case the injections were tampered with and Ames experiences a traumatizing death. When the investigators try to find who would have done this, they first turn to Darby. Darby is about to be arrested by the police when Shelton calls him with a disguised voice leading him to an abandoned warehouse. Shelton, revealing himself paralyses Darby and kills him in his warehouse in the most vicious manner by dismembering him while recording it. When the investigators find Darby’s body they turn to Shelton. Shelton willingly gives himself over into custody, and tries to make a deal with Rice. He says that if Rice gives him what he wants, he will give him a real confession. All the while, investigators discover that Shelton owns a property near the prison with an u...
