Should abortion be legal so that a woman can keep her child out of a life of suffering, or should it be illegal because it is immoral and unfair to not give a child a chance at life? Those against abortion are as such because of their religious views that humans created by god shall not be killed by the hands of man. Other people disagree with abortion because it is killing a living, feeling, unborn person that doesn’t even have a chance at life before it's stripped away from them. People also argue that the parents who conceived the child should be responsible, since it was their fault in the first place. There are health implications that could arise from having an abortion and even the inability to never have a child again. These are the …show more content…
In an article by Natalie Baptiste "This is What Happens When Abortion is Outlawed." she explains that if abortion becomes illegal in the US, there will be many problems and I agree with her. There are hundreds of thousands of abortions that happen annually in the US alone and making abortion illegal would cause a big problem. Since there are so many abortions in the US already, making it illegal would not change much as having an abortion is a big deal and there will be illegal abortions performed if there is still a business for them. Illegal abortions currently kill around 47,000 women each year around the world so they are not safe at all and would better remain as legal to protect women. Would the US deny victims of rape or incest an abortion if the wanted it? Living with a constant reminder of such traumatic incidents would both be a burden and bring deep emotional pain to the mother of the child. Many women would also die if abortion became illegal because they know childbirth could kill them but they cannot do anything about it. Making a woman a criminal for controlling her own body is a waste of time and money for the government when there are much larger problems to
Abortion is a topic that many don’t want to discuss. It’s a very personal decision that many women have to make each day, but in certain states, getting an abortion is becoming an even more difficult process. Not only did women have to decide to get an abortion, which alone is a difficult choice, they now had to wait 24 hours, minors had to get consent, and/or inform the father of the child. But after all of this process, what if a woman couldn’t receive all of this? Would she be denied her right to get an abortion?
If abortion was illegal except in cases of incest, rape, and that leads to mass unsafe world of many women vulnerable. This means if a rape allegation is proven to be consensual the woman would be forced to carry
How would you feel if someone took away your ability to live and have a future? You wouldn't have the opportunity to crawl, take your first step, have your first kiss, or experience those butterflies in your stomach at the sight of first love. Millions of special moments, a life, shredded to pieces. This is essentially what abortion does. Abortion is not the answer in the case of an unplanned pregnancy and needs to be stopped! First of all, abortion is a type of unnecessary murder that occurs in inhumane ways and cannot be tolerated. Moreover, there are alternatives to abortion and many families who are looking to adopt. Lastly, the side effects of abortion can cause life threatening health risks to the mother. Excuses will always be made, but the bottom line is that abortion is not acceptable and should be stopped.
As portrayed in the evidence above a women’s right to abortion should be legal as becoming pregnant is a big deal. Women sometimes cannot control their bodies as they get into situations that are not their fault, like rape. Even though women sometimes could avoid getting into situations that
There are people who have conditioned their minds to think that women should not be allowed to have abortions if they were not raped or a result of incest, which I strongly disagree with that type of thinking. However, it is the law of the land, it is a women’s right to choose and she has to live with the psychological effects of her choice. Contrary to common beliefs, abortion has been a hot topic 200 years prior to 1972 Roe vs Wade. According to an article by Brian Young, “Life before Roe”, “the first US law against abortion, adopted by Connecticut in 1821, criminalized the administration of poison or of any "destructive substance" to induce a miscarriage. In 1840, however, Maine became the first state to pass a law that expressly protected all babies.”
The idea of whether abortion should be illegal or allowed is a controversial one since everyone seems to have different ideologies. Judith Thomson, who is in support of pro-choice argues in her article “A Defense of Abortion” main idea towards abortion is stating women should have the right to choose because they have the moral right to decide whether they have to hold life in their body. This idea is presented from her first analogy using the violinist who has a failing kidney and will perish if he does not have someone give him blood immediately. They take you without your permission and plug you into him. She connects this to the idea of the fetus by saying everyone has the right to life and if the fetus is considered a person then it would be wrong to kill an innocent human being, but then says that if the child is harming you then you should not wait until you are dead, he body is the home of the women so she should be allowed to defend herself against
Governmentally, abortion should remain legal because a woman and her family have a right to privacy. Second of all, there is the fetus cannot be considered a person.
An abortion is a surgical removal of a fetus. In some cases, women may not want to go through the surgical part and just want the pill or remove the child. I am not for aborting a child and I say this because a fetus is an unharmed child even if the child was brought into this world as an accident or even on purpose. Just imagine if someone was killing you right now! While you are alive as the beating of your heart beat per second and all of a sudden there is a crucible pain. To me it should not be legal, if it very miserable and disgusting. Abortions should only be preformed if there is a serious problem. Not just because you do not want a child because there are other options like adoptions. Carrying around a child for nine months and not being able to have the baby in your presence may seem like a waste of time. I feel that once you find the right foster parents, then everything will fall into place and you will fall back into you comfort
There are many reasons to keep abortion legal. There is more to this than most think such as, “back alley” abortions and how dangerous those could be, even possibly causing death of the mother. With that said, in cases of rape or incest it most definitely should remain legal. At least in America, women have rights, which that include a say in what happens with their bodies. Everyone is responsible for their own physical well-being, as women are to decide the fate of his or her own bodies; even if it is to the extent of getting an abortion. Although these may all play an important role in the topic of keeping abortion legal, it’s important to have cold, hard, facts behind these bold statements.
Cornell strategy note taking system, was developed by Dr Pauk of Cornell University, the Cornell strategy is an excellent study system for organizing and reviewing lecture notes to increase comprehension and critical thinking of course materials, which typically results in improved test scores.
Abortion has been the biggest controversy of all time. Many people believe that it is morally okay and not murder just because it is legal. Individuals never think about how it would make them feel if someone took away their ability to live, grow, and become someone. They do not envision not being able to have any say in whether or not they want to have a life. Well, babies do not have an option in the womb. If the woman decides to abort her baby, they can do nothing about their life being taken right out of their hands. Their whole future is destroyed with no chances of going back on the mother’s decision. I believe abortion is wrong when having it for a selfish reason. I am arguing that Abortion is wrong, although not to be misguided with ‘Abortion should be prohibited.’ Abortion is wrong in terms of an unplanned pregnancy, disability diagnosis, adolescent pregnancy, or contraceptives and birth control not working right that month.
Abortion gives pregnant women a say in pregnancy. Abortion should be available because without it, it is a safety hazard. Also, no abortion means more overpopulation and infanticide. Finally, involuntary birth can ruin a woman’s life. Without abortion, pregnant women our being deprived of their human rights!
Many people have their own opinions on abortion, that a fetus is a human being with a right to live so abortion is similar to murder. While other groups argue that a woman has certain rights, especially the choice whether to bring another life into the world. The groups that are for it think that abortion gives women the control over their own bodies, which it is their choice when and whether to have children or giving an option to choose to bring or not to bring a child with abnormalities to the world. Some children are born with severe disorders and some parents, being unable to care for their disabled child seek abortion as their one and only option because taking care of a child, especially born with abnormalities is tough work to do as a parent, so they decide whether bring a life into the world. They look ahead on what is best for them, and it is selfish. Or even having in mind that some do not want to become a single parent taking up two roles; a mother and father and they feel like every child should come into the world feeling wanted, loved and cared for. Another reason some women have an abortion is because they do not want to stop work or schooling, and these reasons are consistent across many countries, including America. Other reasons are because of societal pressures, women get little to no social support. But
Abortion has been a complex social issue in the United States ever since restrictive abortion laws began to appear in the 1820s. By 1965, abortions had been outlawed in the U.S., although they continued illegally; about one million abortions per year were estimated to have occurred in the 1960s. (Krannich 366) Ultimately, in the 1973 Supreme Court case of Roe v. Wade, it was ruled that women had the right to privacy and could make an individual choice on whether or not to have an abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy. (Yishai 213)
In conclusion, a women’s right to choose can justify abortion, but it should be banned because it's immoral and life begins at conception. Women have been given the right to have an abortion under the United States Constitution, but this right is still being protested by the people that fight for the unborn's rights. It is immoral because it is simply defined as murder. Life begins at conception not at birth. Before a child is born it is given all its supplies to survive. Before birth the child’s heart beats, all its necessary organs have been made present, and gastric juices flow in the stomach. This is a child that dreams, feels pain, and thinks. Some women may look at having an abortion to solve personal conflicts, but in all, women that chose abortion are abandoning their strengths of creation, compassion, and ability to be a mother. After evaluating each side, especially that of the pro-choice movement, and debating each side, I feel pro-life is the movement I stick with in most circumstances.
