The important thing about the Renaissance is that it happened between the 1300s and the 1600s. It started because Europe experienced a growth of cities. It experienced a growth of cities by using the major trade route that connected Asia and Europe which was called the Silk Road. Leonardo Da Vinci was a famous person during that time, he painted paintings like the Fresco of the Battle of Anghiari, but he is most famous for painting the Mona Lisa. But the most important thing about the Renaissance is that it happened between the 1300s and the 1600s.

Between 1450 and 1750, political, economic, and artistic changes affected Western Europe. Politically, in the 1400's parts of Europe had a feudalistic government and feudal monarchies but overtime Europe adapted to absolute monarchies, parliamentary monarchies, and nation-states. Economically, with feudalism declining, capitalism and mercantilism grew with the commercial revolution. China has an extensive history that spans thousands of years and various dynasties. Each dynasty has made their own significant achievements which have contributed to the shaping of China. However, some historians believe that because China followed a "dynastic cycle" for so long, the society was unchanging and stagnant. But the fact of the matter is that China was actually undergoing massive changes within itself which would lead to the shaping of a new China.
Europeans during the 1500s and 1600s faced domestic issues while also expanding their control overseas. The shift between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance was characterized by great socio-economic, political, and religious changes. Politically, the feudal system of the Middle Ages was exchanged for a more stable centralized republic/monarchy system that gave the people more freedom and input. Religiously, secularism became more important as stability gave people a chance to concern themselves with the “here and now” rather than simply the “hereafter.” Socially, there was a shift from dogma and unshakeable belief to humanism and the ability to interpret things for oneself. The Middle Ages began around 400 CE and lasted until 1400 CE while the Renaissance began around 1200 and continued until 1600. The 200 years that overlap between these two periods contain many pieces of “transition” art in which it is obvious that the change is beginning to take place. These collective changes that took place in this period dictated change in art as well. There were changes in iconography, style, purpose, and patronage that facilitated the overall transformation of art from a sense of illustrating what you are told to believe is true to optical realism and conveying how you yourself interpret that “truth”.
China is one of the word’s four ancient civilizations. “China has more than 5000 years of ancient Chinese history” (http://www.chinahighlights.com/travelguide/culture/china-history.htm). This includes all the Great dynasties, including three important ones. The Zhou dynasty, Ming dynasty, and the Manchu Qing dynasty. The Zhou dynasty is important because it helps us explain the Chinese concepts of the dynastic cycle of the mandate of heaven, and because of this it helps us explain the fall of the brilliant Ming dynasty to the Manchu Qing. These three dynasties are important to our history because of this.
