The Koran is the holy book which Muslims recite and turn to for guidance in all aspect of their lives. It consists of what Muslims believe are the divine revelations from God to Muhammad. The Koran holds a spiritual message to its readers, including practical injunctions, aimed at general welfare of human beings, society, and the environment (whyislam.org). The holy Koran has a very rich history in terms of how it came about and was put together. People debate the timing of the Koran. Some people believe the Koran was finished being written by the time of Muhammad’s death, while others believe that it took many years before the Koran was completed. Most can agree with the idea that it was during Muhammad’s time on earth that started this …show more content…
He would recite these revelations amongst his companions, who would then write down and memorize them since Muhammad could not write. Muhammad took this process seriously. He would tell his scribes where each revelation specifically went in the Koran and made his companions read back what they wrote to ensure that it correctly corresponded with what was revealed to Muhammad. One could say that the arrival of these revelations to Muhammad were at a perfect timing, for Arabs were excelling in oral poetry. People would listen to Muhammad reciting his revelations, moved by how beautiful his words were in Arabic (whyislam.org). The revelations arrived passage by passage, in an order that is different than that of the Koran. Each revelation came in pieces, linking particular passages to actual incidents in Muhammad’s life (127). The Koran is very organized, and not by the order of Muhammad’s revelation. The longest chapter at the beginning (it has the most lines), while the shortest chapter is at the end. After Muhammad died in 632 A.D., a manuscript was put together by the entire Koran by a committee led by the chief scribe. The manuscript was approved by fellow companions of Muhammad. Copies were made under the leadership of the third caliph Uthman and distributed to main Muslim centers
After the fall of the Roman Empire, no one imagined that the next great world power would emerge from Saudi Arabia. Especially, because ancient empires thought that the land was worthless but they didn’t know that it had great trade routes. Trade brought them in connection with other civilizations and that’s how the city of Mecca, located in Saudi Arabia became known. The city of Mecca was a mix of religious beliefs, they used to worship many gods and had their own rituals. The world of Islam took place in Mecca where Muhammad was born in 570 CE. He became known as “the Prophet,” he was meant to be God’s final prophet. The main two groups of Islam are the Shia and Sunni; which they were created after Muhammad’s death. The Islam religion as
Every religion has certain practices or elements that are unique to their teachings and make them different than the rest. The Moor Science Temple is no different. The Holy Koran was presented by Ali in 1928. This text served as the primary religious material for the MST and It consisted of 64 pages total. The first half of the Holy Koran was copied from Lewis H. Dowling’s The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus Christ written in 1908. The second half of the Koran talks about Ali being the final prophet and the Asiatic origins of black people in North America. The Holy Koran states that Islam is the true religion of the Moors and that they needed to return Christianity to white people. MST offered an affirmation of life experiences

Understanding Islam gives a broad outline which could help to erase American misconceptions about this religion, and could be helpful in easing global racial tensions. The book is not top of the line scholarship about Islam; it is for the uninformed or otherwise unaware beginner. After reading this book the reader has a basic understanding of Islam, devoid of many American or western misconceptions. However, Lippman explains that the holy book is not spelled "Koran," but rather "Qur-an," though he uses the first spelling throughout the book (56). The real version is written in arabic, but I would have rather him used the more authentic spelling. In this way I see that this book was beneficial, but not the final word. It is a good book because it lays a positive foundation for Americans, and hopes to inspire them to continue their study of a fascinating religion.
The Muslims’ main sacred text is the Koran, which they believe Gabriel gave to Mohammad from God. Muslims believe that the Koran is the final revelation from God, as the Bible has been “corrupted” upon translation.
The author first summarizes the historical life of Muhammad. This begins with his birth and life before he was given his mission. Next comes his struggle to spread his religion. Since the days of Abraham, people had fallen back to worshipping many Gods. Muhammad’s task was to restore monotheism that Abraham had established. To do this, he had to move to Medina for protection. This whole period is referred to as the Hijra. Thousands of followers made this journey with Muhammad, and it is here that Muhammad would struggle to convert his world back to a monotheistic one. The author does a good job explaining the world in which Muhammad was born into. The book does not go into any depth about his life before his prophecy, but this is probably because there isn’t much information on the subject.

Islam is a religion that is based on the submission oneself to the will of God, who is called Allah. Muslims are the people believe in that, regardless of their culture, background or ethnicity. Muslims believe that the absolute deity is Allah. However, they also believe that there was a string of prophets sent by God to teach his word. The last of these prophets was Muhammad. His life is used as a foundation for Muslims to see how they are supposed to live and to help explain the teachings of the holy book of Islam, which is called Holy Qur’an. These teachings are said to have been revelations that Muhammad received that confirmed the God’s unity and the direct life in the world.
The Qur’an is believe to the ultimate source of God by many Muslim believers. It contains 114 suras for the believers as the core practices of the Islamic religion and Muslims throughout the world recites its verses (Chang, Lecture. 1/21/14). They believed the prophet of Allah was Muhammad, who received the words of Allah through Angel Gabriel, and was passed on with the Qur’an during Ramadan. Angel Gabriel one night came to Muhammad “in clear human form” (“Scripture and Tradition in Islam- The Qur’an and Hadith” 104), and gave the messages from Allah to him. From the establishment of the Qur’an, Muslims have viewed the book as the last revelation of their god Allah, and thus are the true words from God for their ways of life and in reaching Allah in their afterlife. The book also teaches “mankind’s responsibility assigned by God” (Gordon 115). Therefore, Muslims practices in ways to prove their devotion towards the new religion of Islam by being faithful, and performing religious practices.
the Koran was essentially a rule book on removing the enemy from this world with a different religious view “and fight with them until there is no more fitna and religion is all for Allah.” (Qur'an 8:39) their religious beliefs are built on killing anyone who doesn't believe in their god. without muslims belief in religion would 9/11 never have happened? some still disagree and believe 9/11 happened for political reasons.
