I have always admired how someone can live 70+ years. There is a title for people who have lived that long and have brought someone into this world. That title is ‘Parent’, but there is another title for people who have brought a child into the world and kept the child alive long enough for that child to have their own child. That wonderful title is ‘Grandparent’. According to Gregory (1964), “Everybody’s got a Helene Tucker, a symbol of everything you want” (p. 163). My symbol is ‘Grandfather”. To me “Grandfather” represents wisdom, love, and hard work, these are everything I want. Firstly, wisdom is knowledge through life experiences. The more mature a person is, means that they have lived longer. This implies that they should be wiser than …show more content…
Love grows stronger with age. The older you are, the more you value those around you. Nowadays young people use love like a piece of notebook paper. They write on the lines, doodle in the corners, and then throw it away when they are bored with it. I cannot explain how love should be used since there isn’t an instruction booklet for love. This is something sacred and should only be given to those who deserve it. The love connection only gets stronger the more you have it and nurture it. Love is like a tree. You plant it in someone’s heart and you need to support it or it will wither and die. Love can be stronger if you truly love the person. The wiser you are, the more you can love. The more you know about a person, the more you will come to love them. Love is not a superficial thing. True love comes from within. The more you know about those around you, the better you can choose who to love. Wisdom helps you choose who to trust with your love. There is no such thing as ‘love at first sight’. True love can only happen when you truly know and have a connection with a person. As I stated earlier, love requires work to keep alive. Love can diminish if you do not nurture and develop it fully. The other people in your life must feel loved if you wish to keep them
First of all, I think my first symbol would be a duckling. At my toddler age I didn't liked getting dirty, if I got dirty I wanted to be

I chose the symbol of the phoenix to represent Elli from I Have Lived A Thousand Years. She is a phoenix, because she always can turn the situation around and make it better like the phoenix who rises from the fire after being beaten. Elli survived the Holocaust by never losing her will to live and by approaching every challenge like it may be her last. I chose words like serious, powerful, and revolution to show how Elli did her best to survive and didn’t give up like some of the other men and women at the camps. However, I also chose words like limit, love, and curious to show how in the end she was still only a fourteen year old girl. She was as mature as she possibly could be, but a lot of her personality traits had to do with the fact
Many times the love that a person is looking for is the one that a person doesn't realize.
As the above quote shows, parents are customarily seen as willing to to do anything and everything for their children's safety and health. Their perpetual love for their offspring allows them to willingly put themselves in any situation, if it benefits their children. This powerful love also extends greatly to grandparents. Due to their elderly age, many grandparents are viewed as incapable of providing sufficient care for their grandchildren. Although age does act as a roadblock, grandparents love for their grandchildren overcomes this. In “A Worn Path”, a short story written by Eudora Welty, the protagonist Phoenix Jackson defies
Couples should love unconditionally because it is true love that is more than infatuation Nozick notes,
"Love is blind. It will take over your mind. What you think is love, is truly not. You need to elevate your mind. "-
By definition, my grandfather is handicapped. However, he doesn't act as though he is, and he certainly does not want to be treated in any special way.
Is love an emotion we feel naturally, or is it something that needs to be learned? Is the idea of loving someone a journey in which you grow together, or is there really such a thing as ‘love at first sight’? Vivek Shraya’s narrative She of the mountains and bells hooks’ perspective novel all about love dive into the ideas and definitions of love. Shraya’s novel She of the mountains explores how love is something we learn through experience, how our definition of love can be moulded and changed through those experiences, and how they are correlated to our individual identity and self-love. hooks’ all about love blames society for our reasoning why love fails and how we fail to have a sense of individual identity because of the idea of love
Increased life expectancies have many reconsidering whether the fountain of youth is merely a legend. For many families, longer life spans have allowed them to spend more time with loved ones, time that may not paint the picture imagined.
Hello, I’m Tala Ashour and I am going to be giving a tribute speech to my role model. How many of you would like to go back in time just to be able to meet a wonderful person you’ve never got the chance to meet? A wise woman who is known as Shannon Alder once said; “Carve your name on hearts, not tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you.” I would go back in time to meet the most admirable person in my life which is my grandfather because I fell in love with him but never met him. My deceased grandfather was a caring, genuine and humble human being that wanted nothing but a happy, comfortable and acceptable life.
Well I use to believe that love couldn't be made at first sight. But yet now today I do think it happens. I will now share what I think love means.
They say grandparents, are the two most favorite people in the world to children. Grandparents are the main characters of your childhood, they are the ones that leave you with the most beautiful memories of your life. Some grandparent’s teach you a very valuable lesson of life, they teach you respect, hard work, family values, and unlimited love. They show you their love in many ways, they say I love you in words as well as actions. Grandparents are the ones that sometimes get you out of trouble and guide you to the correct path. They show you trust, a trust that cannot never be broken.
This paper will give information about the reasons why grandparents are required to take care of grandchildren, positive effects of raising grandchildren, challenges of taking care of grandchildren, and what grandparents can do to help them cope.
Important roles in the lives of children have been directly influenced by their grandparents more profoundly over the past few decades (Dunifon, 2013). As life expectancy extends, grandparents are able to instill their values in their grandchildren. Many researchers have focused on how influential grandparents can actually be within the caregiver role. Dunifon (2013) stated, that grandparents’ involvement when raising their grandchild occurs more commonly when no parent is present in the household, this commonly known as custodial grandparent families (Dunifon, 2013). Custodial grandparents also have many sources of strength.
