Music itself is a widely known idea of criticism. People analyze the meaning of the words within a song, they describe their life experiences, emotions, and struggles through a simple melody. But music itself is a concept different to everybody; to me music is a form of education one utilizes to become aware of themselves and their surroundings.
For almost 8 years in my life, I have used music to learn more about the world itself. I have used the strength of guitar strings to create sounds of passion, and vibrance, all the while learning the importance of hard-work and strength within one-self. I have spent hours working on the same four beats of a Beatles song, because to me, fixing the way you play certain music is the only way the musician’s message can be achieved. I have spent months on end figuring out

the easiest way to switch from a Bm chord, to an A, all the while making the melody continuous and smooth. And through all this time I have spent singing and playing the guitar, time is the only thing I have lost, and even then the experience and knowledge I gained through this practice makes up for it. Looking out in the audience when I first walk up to the microphone, wearing my heart on my sleeve, there are a million thoughts that run through my head and my chest. But the minute my fingers start picking, and strumming the guitar strings, the minute my hand behaves like an instrument of its own, there is nothing else on my mind. The feeling of performing, practicing, listening and even creating music, is the most captivating thing.
Realizing that you’ve been holding your breath when a song ends, or when you hear the first 3 seconds of your favorite song can never be replaced. Finding a hundred different meanings in the first two sentences of a song amazes me because it shows me how many different messages I can potentially share with the world. Music does not captivate me because it sounds pretty; it captivates me because of its power and potential to change the lives of many. My life has always been a bubble, the culture around me has been the same, the people around me have always been the same. But music provides a transition into the real world, and different kinds of music give me an outlook I could never attain from my society. It teaches me about the problems women face, the poverty our society faces, and even how our environment has changed for the worse. These realizations about a different kind of culture in the world, is something I could have only learned from the roughness in country music, the pain behind Rock N Roll, and the serenity within jazz and classical
music. Within the past 8 years of my life, music has bewitched me in ways I can not explain. When I found something that could transform minutes of my life, into hours of work and practice without me even knowing, I understood the significance of it in my life. I have learned that the parts of music that have captivated me, and changed me, are those that will continue to transform me into the person I become one day. The concept of music is one I wish to further in my college experience. Not because its easy, or less work, but because it has instilled a certain level of confidence within me, and it continues to develop my character as an impactful, and resilient person.
Should it be Allowed? Suppose an artist or band sold their music to a record label or landed a deal with a company. Should this be allowed? Artists’ music should be used in advertising. It offers smaller artists a chance for their music to get heard by a wider audience and it is accepted nowadays for bands and artists to put their music in commercials or promote products for sponsors.
If one were to look back into the world’s history, one would find that an important and consistent element is the world of music. Music has presented itself in various forms throughout its spread and through our identification of its magical realm, people have been fortunate enough to come across a means of relation. Whether it is blues and reggae or rap and pop rock, there is music out there for everyone. Music can serve as a stabilizer for some, a relaxant to others, and to many a form of inspiration.
Music has always been an important part of my life. During high school I have developed areas of service and leadership through interests in children and gardening, which will continue to be major parts of my life.
Music is one of the most fantastical forms of entertainment. Its history stretches all the way from the primitive polyrhythmic drums in Africa to our modern day pop music we listen to on our phones. It has the ability to amaze us, to capture our attention and leave us in awe. It soothes the hearts of billions, and it is so deeply rooted in my life that it has touched my heart as well. Everyday I walk to the beat of the song stuck in my head and hum along to the melody. For me, to listen to music be lifted into the air by the hands of your imagination and float around for a while. You forget about your worries, your troubles and find peace within the sound. Every chapter in my life is attached with a song. Every time I listen to a certain song, thoughts of my past come flooding back
Music is far more than the sum of its parts. It can be thought of in a highly mathematical sense, which leaves one in awe of the seemingly endless combinations of rhythm, tone and intervals that a good musician can produce. Admiring music in this way is a lot like admiring an intricate snowflake, or shapes in the clouds; it's beautiful, but at the same time very scientific, based on patterns. All of the aforementioned qualities of music have one thing in common: they can be defined with numeric, specific values. However, the greatest aspect of music lies elsewhere, and cannot be specifically defined with words. It is the reaction that each individual has when they are confronted with their favorite (or least favorite) kind of music.
Music is the third most important thing to me in life outside of god and my mom. Music keeps me balanced. Every since I was a baby music was played around me. Jazz was always played around me to soothe me. There would be times when I would be really hyper acting like I couldn't sleep, my mom would put on some jazz and I would be fine. A lot of times I can have a long chore and I say to my self how can I accomplish this, Knowing it will take me forever. So I'll put on some jazz music and in twenty-five minutes I'm finished.
What does music mean to you? Music is something that has been around for many years. It started out as just some drums and a few instruments, but has changed a lot over time. The dictionary defines music as “an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.” When I think of music I think of it has a story combined with instrumental sounds. Over the years, it has changed so much, some for the good and the bad. There are many different types of music and different emotions it will bring.
Songs help people in countless ways, whether it’s a favorite song that lifts their spirits or a song that motivates them and get them ready to go. Most people probably don’t realize that music can help people study and work harder. Tons of people adore it and others despise it, but most students would concur that music helps and people love listening to it. I have just started listening to music while I’m studying, and while a few songs distract me, others help me study and stay focused. I know several of my classmates bring headphones everyday so that they can tune out everything around them and push forward with their work.
“Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music.” These were the words of Sergei Rachmaninoff, a Russian composer and pianist who was very influential in the twentieth century. Sergei’s perception of music was accurate because he understood the impact and significance music can have. Everybody knows what music is and they all have heard a form of it but most people underestimate the value and power music has in our everyday lives. Whether they know it or not music plays a vital role in the lives of people today. Music is a very efficient tool that influences and assists people, it plays a huge part in today’s society, and it had done so much for me as an individual.
Music has been used all over the world, in every culture to tell stories, celebrate, and rebel. Whatever the reason, all music can be used as a representation of a person’s feelings throughout life. In the 1930s and 1940s, the Swing era, music helped as an outlet for people to forget the hard times and fear during the second World War. In the 1990s, music was filled with grunge, rock, pop and hip-hop to convey the sense of misunderstanding teens felt during this generation. Over the years music has adapted according to the times, I personally, feel music can express my life based on where I’ve been, where I am, where I hope to be and the challenges I will face along the way.
Music means the world to me. It is such a significant aspect of my life. It is my way of escape. It is what gets me through the day. Music just brings people together despite their differences and I love that.
Also, Music can change the way a person feels inside, even the deepest of the heart. Music is a kind of art that we cannot touch, but at the same time it can touch us and can be felt. For me music is more than just an art, music is connected with everything like our body, soul and emotions. For instance, before I arrived in USA, I did not speak nor understand English, but the power of music made me feel like I could understand the songs in English.
Music, a form of art, made up of unique and special sounds containing elements of pitch and rhythm can powerfully soothe one’s soul. Firstly, there are different types of music, and each has its own features. These sounds and features are what I admire in music because to me it creates a new form of communication to one’s consciousness. It stimulates our mind and gives it a sense of harmony and peace through the hardships that life poses for us. As a kid, I would always listen to music from any genre, deciding which genre would complement me the most as I grew older. In middle school, I remember going on the computer and finding a website/program where I could make my own beats. From that day on, I spent countless of hours each day making sure the tune sounded proper and pleasurable for my ears. At first, it wasn’t good, but eventua...
Music is a way of expressing yourself and letting emotion out. Music has always been a part of my life. It’s all around with no escape; from advertisement jingles on television to the radio stations at work, I’m always close to music. I even have over one thousand songs on my phone at the ready. Music has enlisted many emotions and thoughts for me but most importantly, memories. My music life started with nursery rhymes and will continue to the last song I have the privilege of listening to before I go. I have developed a playlist that describes many influential periods in my life. My playlist varies immensely across multiple genres and time periods yet still applies to my life.
Through music we are able to comprehend someone’s personality, their views, their culture, and who they are as an overall person. The music you listen to is a reflection of who you are and your own personal thoughts. As I reflect on the music I listen to I came to the conclusion that I gravitate towards songs that depict the emotions we feel through lyrics while being able to relate it to my own personal experiences.
