Have you ever seen someone in need and immediately seek to aid them in any way possible? Since I developed the sense of empathy, helping others is all I have ever wanted to do. I find assisting others as a rewarding activity; whether it is guiding them to understand a situation in their life, or holding the door open. I tend to care more for others than my well-being. Often my mother tells me to not worry so much about others and focus on my own problems, but it is what I enjoy doing. I aspire to further my education so I can aid people on another level, their emotional level to better their lives. No plan is concrete; nothing ever turns out exactly the way we want it. There are times when there are millions of things piled upon us. People in general stress too much. It is absolutely normal to stress from time to time; it is not normal to become sick or mentally unstable due to daily stress. Stress management should be learned as a child or young teen. I believe we all see ourselves so highly, that we are afraid of being judged if we must ask for help. I strive to be a person people can easily approach and feel comfortable asking for help. Emotions are a part of being human; how we react to these emotions makes us who we are. I avoided counseling because I did not see myself in a desperate need for help. I often felt alone in a room full of individuals and unnoticed at my jobs. It was not until my last year of college did I fully understand that how I felt was not normal. Once I was getting the help I needed, I discovered how to accept who I am and strive to better myself. My counselor has assisted me in endless ways and I want to do the same for others. I want to be there when someone is feeling alone to ensure them that they are abandoned. I want to help others love themselves the way we are supposed
According to Arianna Huffington in the article “Empathy: What We Need Now”, during hardships and instability of society, empathy is needed to find solutions to those issues. Huffington writes about how empathy is needed in our country in order to produce a positive social change. She begins by giving an example of a movement that Martin Luther King created and how empathy was a part of this movement. King as well spoke of how empathy is the sign of living. To become involved in the situations of humanity in order to improve it, displays that empathy is the core of a human’s existence. After reading this article, I do agree with Huffington about how individuals need to fully understand and put themselves within the situation to fully comprehend the issue to solve.
There are countless people who aspire to help people in their lives. However, if you think about it, nearly every career helps others in some way, shape, or form. Teachers, scientists, policemen and various other careers aid people in different ways. I, like many others, have always known that I’ve wanted to help people. Yet, I also want to do more than that. I want to help others, but also save others- emotionally or physically, mentor others, inspire others, and be there for others during their most vulnerable times. This is who I am- and I have always been this person. In first grade, I ran a lemonade stand at my school for the Make-A-Wish Foundation; I got my third grade class to raise money for starving children; and I put up with bullying throughout middle school because I befriended a girl who had trouble making friends on her own. The quality of pure selflessness and care for others that I have always possessed would allow me to do something great with my life- it just took me some time to figure out what.
Growing up I had always been asked the infamous question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?", and my answer had always been a shrug or a simple "I don 't know yet". If I was asked the same question now, I could confidently and very passionately say, "I want to be a doctor; a humanitarian who brings positive change in someone 's life.". It seems like a very general statement but I truly hope to one day become somebody who can use her expertise and profession to help others.

Another reason that individuals engage in these helping behaviors is that they have Empathy for others. The term Empathy refers to a persons ability to understand the needs and feelings of other people because they share in those feelings. And for sometime Empathy has been considered a significant factor in promoting positive behavior towards others.

I am compelled to help others in need. Mentally, I know it is not feasible to help everyone, but that does not stop me from trying. In addition, when my clients are in pain, I am also hurt because I have emotionally committed myself to each one of them. I must learn to establish borders to emotionally separate myself from my clients and their problems. I believe that an education is a crucial tool to survive in the world. Because of this belief, I have an insatiable thirst for knowledge. In my life I want to learn and experience as much as I possibly can before I am no longer able to. I hope to use my knowledge to not only better myself but also to support and build up those less fortunate than I. I also want to be able to make everyone who supported and believes in me; my mom, my teachers, and my friends; proud to say they have helped me. They are all my biggest inspiration to push myself to work harder each day and to persevere through anything life could throw my way.
It’s absolutely normal to feel powerless when you encounter stress. But to think that there’s nothing you can do about it is absolutely not normal. Being an empath is when you are affected by other people’s energies and have an innate ability to intuitively feel and perceive others. Your life is unconsciously influenced by others’ desires, wishes, thoughts, and moods. Being an empath is much more than being highly sensitive and it’s not just limited to emotions. Empaths can perceive physical sensitivities and spiritual urges, as well as just knowing the motivations and intentions of other people. You either are an empath or you aren’t.
The skill that I am the best at or at least would give myself the highest score in would be showing empathy. I am not sure why I am skilled in this it just seems to come naturally to me. I have always found myself to be a very empathetic person who is able to understand the thoughts, feelings, beliefs and, attitudes of others almost as well as my own.
