John Lennon, arguably the most influential member of The Beatles, was always considered the leader of the beatles even since their early days when they were known as the Quarryman.
Lennon’s dominance as leader of the Beatles really showed on their albums since he was the lead singer on majority of the songs. Even though Lennon was the leader of The Beatles, and came to be a very talented musician, he had personal issues that greatly impacted his life and the way he acted.
Many of the personal issues Lennon had were due to events that occurred during his childhood. When Lennon was a young child his mother and father abandoned him and he was taken in by his Aunt Mimi. She took good care of him, but he got into trouble often and was a bully when he was a teenager. This is likely due to the fact that he carried the feelings of anger,

mistrust, and insecurity since his parents abandoned him. His mother had come back in his life when he was a teen and he became very close to her since she supported everything that he did.Unfortunately, while Lennon was in art college, his mother was killed after she was hit by a car. This was a terrible tragedy for Lennon, but he never showed his feelings to other people. For example, after his mother died he wouldn’t leave his house because he didn’t want people to see the state that he was in. People that knew him in art school also claimed that he became more cruel in his humor and less interested in other people’s feelings, which also shows how he was keeping his feelings about his mother’s death bottled up inside. As Lennon’s musical career with the beatles continued, he began to write songs that showed his true feelings and was able to express himself through his music. This is when his true character began to show with signs of insecurity, mistrust and anger. On the album, “Beatles For Sale”, John Lennon’s dominance as leader of The Beatles really showed because he sang lead vocal on nine of the fourteen tracks. This was an important album for John Lennon because he was able to express himself by showing his feelings at the time.
For example, on the song “I’m a loser” by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, John expressed his feelings of insecurity. John expressed his feelings of insecurity because he sings about how he is a “loser” and he also confesses to how he hides his emotions by stating in the song “I’m not what I appear to be” and “beneath this mask I’m wearing a frown”. These specific lines in this song prove that John Lennon didn’t express his true emotions and that he is actually depressed and believes that he is a loser. In this song, John Lennon also states that he has “lost someone who’s near to me” which could be about his mother and proves how hard the loss of his mother was on him and how it has continued to impact the way he feels. Overall, this song that John Lennon wrote and sang lead vocal for was important because it gave people an insight into his life and how he truly
feels. On the album “Help!”, John Lennon continued his dominance as leader of the beatles since he was the lead singer on seven of the fourteen songs. On this album, Lennon continued to express himself through his music by showing his feelings of insecurity and unhappiness. For example, on the song “ Help!”, Lennon expressed his feelings of insecurity and unhappiness since the whole song is about him begging for help since he is “feeling down”. He also states in the song that “when I was younger, so much younger than today, I never needed anybodys help in anyway”, which proves that he always kept all his problems to himself. This statement also explains why he acted the way he did as a teenager and why his personal shortcoming have carried with him his entire life. John Lennon was able to lead The Beatles and have a great career as a musician even though he had many different personal issues.
leader. He won the hearts of people because he could relate to them and their
Two very influential artists of their time were Jimi Hendrix and Ritchie Valens. Many people wouldn’t consider these two artists to be similar nor have achieved the same success, however they’re paths were quite similar. Both these artists began their careers very early in their lives and were able to influence others artists along the way. Many of their songs also made the top charts. Although both their careers were short lived, both these artists left a mark in the world of music.
In addition to the 23 albums (counting soundtracks and separate US and UK releases) released during the band's life (1960-1970) there have been more than 150 compilations, recorded interviews and videos issued. Hundreds of books have been written about their personal lives, their music, and their influence on pop culture and rock
“You’ve Got to Hide You Love Away” exemplifies Lennon as a maturing artist, no longer producing lyrics for moving and dancing but for sitting and thinking. As Lennon continues in his career, his songs become even more introspective as he delves deeper into the use of drugs and trying to discover himself. The story this song tells, both as a member of the album Help! and as an individual entity, marks the true influence that Bob Dylan held over Lennon in his early Beatlemania years and the influence’s lasting impact on Lennon’s years to come.
Artists write about what they know; they pull feelings from their heart and their songs relay what the artists’ emotions, whether it be of their hometown, their high school crush, or their experiences. Many artists that came to fame during the twentieth century have a fair share of experiences they share with us in the form of their songs. The twentieth century is comprised of the institution of slavery and its effects, war, gender norms, discrimination based on nationality, sex, race, etc., and countless events that sparked protests and uproars in the United States. Music at this time was a phenomenon, and artists could use it to their advantage. Artists used their music to spread awareness about their cause, influence their listeners, and

The definition of a leader is a person who influences people to a common purpose. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr are examples of great leaders who brought about social change through alternative means in the 20th century. Their means were through nonviolent protests of freedom. Gandhi fought for freedom from Great Britain, and King fought for freedom from segregation and equal rights for all Americans.

John Lennon was born on October 9th 1940 in Liverpool, England 1. His father left the family to sail the seas before Lennon’s earliest childhood memory and his mother was taken away by a car accident when he was 18 2. A year after his mother’s death, the Vietnam War took place, which is The United State’s longest military dispute ever. The world famous band, The Beatles, debut on 1961 not long after the start of the war and through this band, Lennon was able to demonstrate his feelings to the people across the world. "Revolution," performed by The Beatles, was created in 1968, when the anti-war demonstration was on the move. After the separation of The Beatles in 1969, Lennon composed the song "Imagine" (1971) 3. This song proves that Lennon is a Peace-Loving-Atheist and a "Voluntarist" 4 that believes in the scheme that people’s ideas can change social reality; however simultaneously admits that there are constantly wars going on in the world. As a result, he could be a mixture of all four, Realist, Liberal, Marxist and Constructivist. On December 8th 1980, approximately five years after the end of the Vietnam War, Lennon was assassinated by Mark Chapman 5. It is not for certain that the word assassination could be used on a singer, song writer who also published books. However there is no doubt about the fact that Lennon touched many people’s hearts around the world and maybe was even praised as an almighty figure.
He got a lot of people fighting along with him, turning against the president. He had a passion for going against Nixon’s beliefs, he made a big difference in that period of time. Unfortunately, Lennon was assassinated by Mark David Chapman on December 8, 1980, an obsessed fan of the Beatles. He will always be remembered for making a difference to the world around the time he was still leaving. One can only imagine what John Lennon would say about a world where more money is spent on feeding the war machine than on feeding the poor
As the Beatles gained more exposure not only in their hometown, but around the country, the mass media was able to advance their notoriety providing them with further opportunities to bring their unique style to everyone. Thus being said, the Beatles could not have come in a more opportune time. Television was able to spread their talents all over the world faster than any other type of media. This technology was able to introduce not only the Beatles as a whole, but the individual members as well.
