Islam, Buddhism, Judaism and Christianity
Islam is one of the fastest growing religions on the planet. ?Along with Christianity, Buddhism and Judaism, Islam makes us the big four. ?I would like for you to use the resources in this week 's unit to discuss similarities between Islam and the other four religions I mentioned here. ?In your discussion, I want you to highlight major differences and major similarities. You can compare Islam to all three of the others, or just one.

In order for the comparison to be made between Islam and any other religion, we first have got to understand what Islam is and where it came from. The only way to understand religion and its roots is to understand the area that it came from and its founder. The roots of the Islam religion is traced all the way back to the Arabian Peninsula which is known today as Saudi Arabia. The Arabs were a Semitic-speaking …show more content…

3. Giving Zakat (support the needy)
4. Fasting the month of Ramadan
5. The pilgrimage to Mecca As I look at the five pillars, I can tell right away the comparisons to the Christian faith. As a Christian and a child of God, we believe in showing our faith and the power of prayer. The Bible also tells us something about giving to those in need because we too might have a need. Jesus also taught on fasting and dedicating ourselves to God. The pilgrimage to Mecca is almost like going to a church even to enhance the spiritual maturity of the Christian. The Islamic people also have a sacred book called the Qur?an which is like out Bible. The Islamic religion is very interesting to learn about. Like with any religion, there are always comparisons and differences. Just like the Islamic people remain true to their religion, we as Christians have a responsibility to remain true to the one and only true God, who is the maker of Heaven and Earth.
