Recommended: Essay on how travelling affects life and personality
When we first started talking about travel and tourism I had a very broad understanding of it. Thinking about it then, it was just defined to me as ‘getting away from home for a few days’. Understanding it now there are so many different definitions to tourism and they all have their pros and cons. I never really considered the three elements that I have heard belong in tourism and somehow those elements still fail to grasp the small meaning that travel can have on a person. To me travel can really open up parts of your personality that you may have forgotten, it gives you the feeling of being small, and can even restore your soul to find purpose. I know when I travel I’m often in wonder at the creations around me. Whether it’s from magnificent landscapes to different cultural wonders around the world I’m usually in awe at the magnitude of human existence and connection to …show more content…
I traveled for the first time last year to the Space Needle, and I totally felt like a tourist. The trouble with far away tourism is that it can take up lots of time, money, and the environmental cost is high. So why not just step out the backdoor and get lost? Traveling around close to home means you keep your money local, have longer to experience a location, and still see new sights. Travel doesn’t need to be across the world to feel leisure, in my own life I found peace at the top of a mountain hiking at Lake Ann. No more than an hour or two drive from my home and I can experience something I never have before and still have it contain the three elements of travel. I moved between two places, for a period of time, and I had a purpose. My wish was to experience nature at it’s finest; I felt a glacier that’s older than me, hiked mountain peaks that looked impossible and felt as though I touched the sky. Even though it was out my back door, how can you not feel small in an atmosphere such as
Today many people have a very fixed view about others in different countries, and what the locals from those countries think about Americans. America was formed so people from other cultures could come and make a life for themselves, and so they could come and enjoy the traditions and ways of America. If people could stop and think about all the good things that other countries have to offer instead of all the bad that the media shows, they could learn to appreciate those countries better. People need to be more open minded about going to other countries because without travel there would be no way of learning about other cultures.
Urry, John, The tourist gaze: Leisure and Travel in Contemporary Societies 2nd Ed (London, 2002).
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, some 20.5 million students are expected to attend American colleges and universities, constituting an increase of about 5.2 million since fall 2000. In addition to this increase of incoming college students, the constant question of “why” does as well. You have one side that says yes! They believe that college is the answer to America’s problems, while the other hand, says that college is not necessarily the answer. Although both of these sides seem to be on the opposite spectrum of everything; they both agree on a few common themes. One being that they both desire for America to be greater and that the quality of everyone 's lives to be the best they can possibly be.
The meaning of anything and everything in this world is up to debate because of the differences between cultures, regions, and types of people cohabitating this planet. None of them have a solid “correct” form to live a healthy life, but with combined knowledge from many walks of life, it is possible to attain the powerful knowledge to enjoy that elusive healthy life. Travel is not typically a consideration within the health spectrum of a human being, but it has much more to deal with human well-being than many doctors will let on. Seeing the world will not drop ten pounds in two weeks, but what it will do, is broaden people’s perspectives on this world. It opens the mind into seeing how other people live, how the world functions, and viewing the raw natural beauty of undisturbed nature. Humans are of this earth and will return to it one day: it is important to understand where we come from and will eventually go, to maintain a healthy mentality. Now this may sound like the healthiest way to live life is to drop all worldly possessions and become a hippie traveling in a 1974 VW van, meeting all types of people; and that may be, it also may not be. Living healthy is like one of those college classes in which the only correct answer is to question; there is no definitive answer to be healthy, it is what best fits you. Traveling broadens horizons to open the possibilities of changing unhealthy lifestyles of under-traveled persons, allowing them to attain one of the thousands of possible healthy lives able to be
Besides the food and beautiful attractions, I learn about different cultures, become aware of what is happening in different areas, and I gain new perspectives. This is one of the many reasons why I love and appreciate traveling; it is eye opening and makes me appreciate my life more. Above all, traveling allows me to gain new experiences to become a social worker and a more compassionate
The traveler goes somewhere because there is something there to see or learn, and his reports of his goings-on are centered upon what is there and its relationships to ideas. The purpose of a trip for such a person is to learn, and also allow others to learn from what findings the person observes. While many people have never traveled around the world, they may still be aware of what is going on there,...
Various definitions of tourism exist. Tourism is defined by Macmillan Online Dictionary as the business of providing services for those people travelling for holidays. Tourism has experienced continued growth over the years and diversification and has become one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the world. For countries like Australia, it has become one of the major contributing sectors in the economy generating large proportions of the national income and at the same time increase employment opportunities. The future is still bright for the industry in the country with possible future growth in expansion and diversification. The industry however has both the pros and cons impacts to various ranges of environments (Tourism Research Australia).
No one likes being alone all the time, we all need company and we all like meeting people and learning new things. These are some of the best ways we can enjoy life and all that it throws at us. What better way to meet people than going abroad to study? I tell you, there is no better way. Why do I say that you might ask? Well it’s simple, I did when I was 18 and it has worked out really well. However, there is a catch : you have got to know the language of the country you are going to, so here is the main reason why people should study and learn languages : so they can expand their horizon and acquire more and more knowledge of the world we live in. It has an infinite amount of riches to give to us, if we just ask.
Business trips are more like projects. I am sure that most of the business travelers out there would agree to this statement of mine. You have so much to do, from planning the different meetings and presentations to following the airline schedules and packing your luggage, you need to be on top of everything for a successful business trip.
When tourists decide to travel, there must be a motivation behind and this applies to VFR travellers (Gitelson and Kerstetter, 1995; Murphy, et al, 2003; Ramachandran, 2006). However, it is crucial to understand if VFR travel is the main purpose of travel or it just an activity that falls under the main purpose of travel (Ramachandran, 2006). Before one attempts to understand if VFR travel is either primary or secondary, it is important to review travel motivations which lead people to decide that they want to travel. Travel motivation is the basis for tourism studies which lead to tourism development (Pearce, 2005). It is significant in tourism to understand what motivates tourists in making a decision that they would desire to visit a particular place or
Tourism is an important and intricate element to society. It affects economical, social, cultural and environmental elements. Tourism can be argued to have a negative impact on the environment and decrease our already depleting resources, but tourism can also be argued to be a major contributor to strengthening economies, spread cultural traditions and improve people’s lives. Tourism
Based on McIntosh and friends (1995) tourism is a phenomenon and relationship that exists due to interaction between tourist, businessman, government and community as the host in process attract tourist and foreign tourism. Before you leave on that next trip, pick up a spiral bound notebook and stick it in your carry-on bag along with your passport and toothbrush. Besides a pen and a bit of commitment, it's all you need to keep a travel journal. You don't need to commit to writing indefinitely, only for the length of your trip. And you have no shortage of material. Strange places and new faces need a safe repository, something better than your errant memory. Your journal is that place. The very act of keeping a journal will enrich your journey. Knowing that you are going to write down what you observe makes you more observant. You'll stay attuned to the world, senses alert, recording moments in your mind so you can transcribe them later into your notebook. I can hear you groaning, "But
Traveling with a group can be both very fun and very frustrating all at the same time. People always ask me when I tell them about my travels if I went with anyone. People assume going in a group is the better option. I am going to be very honest in this post about my experiences with group travel. I have had some of the best times in my life because of group travel, but also been VERY frustrated. Frustration is inevitable with group travel, however, there are some things I found helpful in my travels over the summer that made group travel a lot less frustrating.
The world is full of wonders and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, that we take advantage of. Traveling is the ultimate education and it never fails as a teacher. It teaches you things no class can about the world and yourself. Seeing a historical spot and being in the environment it is in teaches you what no text book can.
