Director Francis did an excellent job on this film. This movie is one of the most arousal movies I have seen. This movie is based on the Hunger Games series. The Hunger Games is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen and a boy named Peeta Mellark, who both live in district 12; a city full of poverty and dictatorship. Every year Panem, also known as the Capitol, where they randomly chose 24 tributes, 2 from each 12 Districts, of the opposite sexes. The selected candidates are required to train and fight to the death, leaving only the best contestant as the winner. Originally Primrose Everdeen was chosen as the female contestant for district twelve, but instead her older sister Katniss Everdeen volunteered as tribute to save her little sister’s life. Then, Peeta Mellark was chosen for the male tribute.
As the two contestants from district twelve say their last goodbyes to the family, they board a train that will take them to the capitol. On the train they meet their mentor Haymitch

Abernathy. Haymitch was a previous winner of the Hunger Games who presents himself as a drunken individual who shows no desire to help the contestants assigned to him. As they arrive to the Capitol Peeta shows amazement and passion with his surroundings, however, Katniss expresses anger with the death sentence she has been given. Katniss and Peeta show no emotion or care for each other, but that all changes as the movie goes on. As they have entered the Capitol, Katniss and Peeta are shown to their new home, a very high-class penthouse. The Capitol is a very rich district where all of characters are strangely dressed and have funky hairstyles. The two contestants are soon transferred into their dressing rooms with their own stylist. The stylist planned out and shows extreme detail on the contestants. At first Katniss and Peeta are groomed to district thirteen expectations and although Katniss still shows resentment, district thirteen is quickly showing amazement with her talents and personality. As the movie goes on the two discover that they will need to partner together in order to win the game and save their lives. As the 74th Annual Hunger Games begins; Katniss and Peeta start to form a relationship for publicity to gain popularity with the fans and supporters of the Hunger Games.
The two attend talk shows and public appearances as a couple with matching outfits that had flames of fire blazing off of them, as the audience was amused. The public seems to be convinced with this couple of undying love that was chosen from district twelve. Just before the Hunger Games is about to start each contestant is tested to show his or her strengths. As it came time for Katniss to show her strength, the judges were getting tired and hungry, and not paying attention to her, so to get there attention she shoots an arrow at the pig to get the attention of the judges, as they were frightened and amused at the same time As the movie continues and the contestants are standing on their platforms as the Hunger Games time clock is counting down, the intensity of the movie really presents
itself. As the movie continues, the plot of this story kept my eyes stuck to the screen. The action and storyline was well planned out and continued to keep me on the edge of my seat. Not only does Jennifer Lawrence dazzle the audience, she carries the movie. I agree, that Jennifer Lawrence transforms into the character of Katniss. It felt like you where there, you could feel the emotion during her struggles in the movie. My eyes kept focusing more on Lawrence than on Josh Hutcherson. Josh Hutcherson seemed a little off from his character. It looked as if he was scared to take on the role of Peeta with such a strong woman’s leading the movie. I pictured that Peeta would have been more of a tough character to take on the role as Peeta. Hutcherson really struggled with this role and could not keep me interested in his struggles and sensitive scenes. Overall, I was truly satisfied with this film and was certainly happy that it was not the last one. The end of the movie leaves you wanting more and wanting to know what would become of Katniss and Peeta. As there are more sequels left to watch, I am more thrilled to see the rest of this series.
Katniss volunteering for the hunger games to take her sister prim's place because prim is just a child in katniss’s eyes. The hunger game arena could Be identified with a maze. Peeta the other tribute for District 12 had fallen in love with Katniss before the reaping. Because of her uniqueness the crowd
In The Hunger Games and Lord of the Flies, there is a mutual theme of survival. It might not be only about survival of people, as much as it is survival of their minds, their identities. Many characters, in both The Hunger Games and in Lord of The Flies, are desperately trying to keep their humanity intact, as well as their philosophies, such as Katniss and Peeta, and Ralph and Simon. Some seem to lose it along the way such as Cato and Jack, and some seem to have no mortality in the first place. This is shown in people such as Roger, who only seemed to be bound by the rules of society and has now broken free and able to do whatever he pleases without the fear of adult chastisement. This is shown in the quote “Roger gathered a handful of stones and began to throw them. Yet there was a space round Henry, perhaps six yards in diameter, into which he dare not throw. Here, invisible yet strong, was the taboo of the old life. Round the squatting child was the protection of parents and school and policemen and the law.” This shows us that although Roger feels the urge to torment Henry, by bombarding him with stones, but the remainders of socially required standards of behavior are still too strong for him to give in completely to his savage impulses.
The Hunger Games was a good movie when it came out. This movie refers to a dystopia world in which there are 12 districts and a capitol who rules with an iron fist, in which the districts must provide a tribute to fight in an annual Hunger Game as a punishment for a past rebellion. Katniss Everdeen is a hunter from the 12th district, which Gale, her friend gives her tips on hunting. One day her sister, Primrose Everdeen, is chosen for the Hunger Games, and in order to save her, she volunteers instead to serve in the Games along with Peeta Mellark. During a TV interview, Peeta confesses her love for Katniss Everdeen, which causes the enragement of the latter; however, she later forgives him as he explains to her that it was only to gain sponsors. During the Hunger Games, she did not receive a lot of supplies except some medicine to cure a wound, but Districts 1 and 2 almost won the Game due to their training, and amount of supplies which Katniss destroys but cannot recover any of them. The Hunger Games was one of the best movies I ever watched because it has a little bit of everything and it captures the real-life survival game that we live on a daily basis.

When her and her ally and love interest Peeta reach the center of the Arena in which they are fighting for their lives, they not only run into their biggest rival – another boy named Cato who had been set up throughout as a villain – but also the murderous creations of the those who put them there. It is a gruesome fight that results in Cato’s horrifying death, and the survival of Peeta and Katniss, but only one of them can live. This ultimatum drives Katniss to take a calculated risk: if both of them die, the Capitol has no winner, and the games must always provide a glimmer of hope for effective control, thus if they threaten suicide, they can both get out alive. It works, and they are delivered from the belly of the
As human beings, we thrive to find the meaning of our existence and also the truth. In the books and movies, The Hunger Games trilogy, the very heroic character Katniss Everdeen is on a quest to find truth. As she peels back the layers of lies that swaddle her world, she finds truth within herself and everything around her. To reflect on the novels and films, we must look at the principles of axiology and also examine the plot, characters and how they react to each situation; for reflecting on “the girl on fire” we must study the grounds of epistemology with her own identity. The whole story starts off with the day of the reaping when Prim, Katniss’ sister is selected to enter the Hunger Games, a game created by the government at the time to keep the society scared. One boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are selected by an annual lottery to participate in the Hunger Games, an event in which the participants must fight to the death in an outdoor arena controlled by the Capitol, until only one individual remains.
The Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross, was released in 2012. The film is about a young girl who lives in one of the twelve districts of the Capitol of Panem. To keep these districts from resorting to war like past times, the capitol now forces one girl and one boy to fight to the death until only one remains. Jennifer Lawrence, staring as Katniss Everdeen, has been chosen to represent district 12. The film uses many different elements to display all the emotional and physical struggles Katniss must endure while participating in the games.
In a not-too-distant, some 74 years, into the future the United States of America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war, to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 13 districts. Each year, two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games; these children are referred to as tributes (Collins, 2008). The Games are meant to be viewed as entertainment, but every citizen knows their purpose, as brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts. The televised games are broadcasted throughout Panem as the 24 participants are forced to eradicate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. The main character throughout the series is a 16-year-old girl from District 12 named Katniss Everdeen.
The Hunger Games- “a futuristic dystopian society [Panem] where an overpowering government controls the lives and resources in twelve different districts” (The Hunger Games). The overpowering government lives in the Capitol of Panem and from there controls the citizens of the twelve districts through propaganda and other means. The Capitol has all of the economic and political power in Panem; they have complete control. The leader of the capitol is the harsh, dictator-like figure, President Snow. President Snow’s methods for keeping order in the districts are through Peacekeepers and the annual Hunger Games. The Peacekeepers are an army that monitors each district. Any sign of rebellion, and the Peacekeepers take care of it, usually by killing the rebel in some way. The annual Hunger Games are used to remind all of the citizens of Panem about the uprising in the now obliterated District 13. The Hunger Games, in a way, brainwashes all of the citizens, but a select few such as Katniss Everdeen, to believe that an uprising would be horrible and is not necessary and that the Capitol does what is best for all of the citizens. The movie The Hunger Games, originally based on a book by Suzanne Collins, is about a place called Panem, which is ruled by the Capitol and has 12 districts within it. These 12 districts are separated founded on their economic statuses, meaning the higher the district, the more impoverished the residents are. There are 2 tributes that are chosen to participate, forcibly, in The Hunger Games each year. Each competitor is instructed to eliminate one another in order to survive and come out on top. There is only one tribute allowed to come out of the arena alive. Katniss lives in District 12, which is the most impoverished district of them all, and she volunteers as tribute in “the Reaping” when her sister is chosen to participate. She and the other tribute from her district, Peeta, make it into the arena with the hopes that one of them comes out the winner and above all else, alive (Ross, 2012). I will refrain from going any further just in case you have not read the book or have not seen the movie. In terms of soci...
...nt, Katniss decides not to play by the rules anymore and she splits a handful of poison berries with Peeta. She decides that she is not going to let the “Gods” manipulate the game anymore. Right before they eat the berries the leader’s voice comes overhead and tells them that they have both one. The reason he decides to do this is because the crowd would be incredibly disappointed if the “show” ended this way. This is Katniss’ true show of courage, to defy the leaders/Gods and make her own ending. It can be said that this was Katniss’ destiny or fate: that she was meant to win the Hunger Games.
But in this movie, a person in charge picks a girl and a boy between the ages of twelve and eighteen out of a lottery from each district to represent their district and fight to death. The children, who are chosen, are trained for a week and then sent to and outdoor arena. In the movie, the capitol shows a video explaining the tradition, the rules of the game and how it must be followed no matter what. The characters in this movie have to orient themselves in order to stay safe from the capitol; they also need to follow all the rules provided in order to live. In the story, Prim Everdeen was chosen as of the children to represent the district but her sister Katniss Everdeen volunteered instead to save her sister. After the children are chosen, they are placed in an arena that is controlled by the people who invented the game with advanced technology. The game is being broadcasted all over the world as a reality show, showing the kids of each district killing each other and how they live. The children were almost treated like animals, they were out in a forest setting that is made with the technology, and having to survive off the environment they were given. They were rewarded with food or survival kit each time they kill each other. This portrays exploiting their tradition as entertainment and not seeing the cruelty of
Everything was split apart by the Capitol into thirteen districts. But district thirteen was destroyed by the capitols because they didn't follow what the Capitol had wanted them to do. District twelve was the home of Katniss Everdeen. She was very troubled with the fact that every year the Capitol would have celebrate with a game. This game was where one girl and one boy would be chosen from each of the twelve districts, to fight until one winner was left standing. If you put your name into the jar that they draw the name out of more than you need to, then you would get a reward. Katniss did this every year so that way her family wouldn't starve. Her mom and her sister are the only thing she has, but sadly her sister was drawn for the games, but Katniss wouldn't allow it. She volunteered for her little sister instead. So therefore she would have to fight her way to survive. If she wins. Then she will be safe from the drawing for ever. Her mentor Haymitch and the other fighter Peta make their way up to the Capitol. They both have to present their skills in from of the Capitol. Katniss's skill is shooting the bow and arrow. Her first shot she misses, so they lose interest in what she is doing, so she shoots and apple right of one of the capitols game maker's hands. Each person was evaluated and scored. The higher you scored the better. She had the highest score out of every other person that went thought the trial. Haymitch and her think this is strange, because she could have killed him. Soon they would all have to enter the games, and try to survive. Haymitch thinks that she should try to just run instead of going for the bow, so that way she wouldn't get killed right away. So once the game started, she did what he said. She ran for awhile seeing people being killed left and right. But she had managed to survive for that moment. After a couple of days the game makers see that she is doing very well, so they
The contest within The Hunger Games is rooted deep in the film's backstory, in which the nation of Panem was rocked by a civil war. Twelve oppressed Districts rose up against an oppressive Capitol, and the end result of this civil war was a Capitol victory (Hunger Games). In response to the rebellion of its outer provinces, the government of Panem decreed the creation of the Hunger Games, in which each District would send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to fight in a battle to the death, until only one Victor emerged supreme, who would then, “be showered with glory”, by the Capitol, in order to show the mercy and ...
