The Maya had many unbelievable achievements. One way to measure the greatest achievement is how much it boosted the Maya civilization. An achievement of the Maya, which I believe is the greatest achievement is their intellect. In other words, their knowledge. I believe that this is their greatest achievement because it has improved their society on to a whole new level. For example, they've created a number system, historical architecture, and have learned to survive in the harsh climate of their environment. As you can see, the Mayans greatest achievement is their knowledge. The most superior achievement of the Maya is their intellect. Their intelligence has helped them succeed in mathematics, astronomy and all of their different sciences.
The Mayans intellect has also led them to create some of the most historical architecture. They were more advanced than almost all of the other tribes around their time period. Obviously, the Maya had other great achievements including architecture, and mathematics. However, the base of those achievements was their knowledge. The greatest achievement of the Maya is their knowledge. This is because it has advanced their society to a greater level. For example, with their intelligence they had built superior architecture, and an unbelievable mathematics system. Which has improved their class. Next, the Mayans intelligence has worked to keep them alive by figuring out a way to adapt to their extremely tropical environment. These are just some of the reasons why the Mayans most significant achievement, was their intelligence. The Mayans greatest achievement was their intellect. Their intelligence has helped to create a number system, which we still use today. Also, with this, they have built grand architecture that is now a tourist sight. Consequently, many other civilizations have based their architecture off of the Mayans. As you can see, the Maya have left an extravagant legacy behind them. One way to measure the Mayans greatest achievement is to measure how much it has improved their society. For that reason, the greatest achievement of the Maya is their intellect. It has led them to create historical architecture, a working number system, and has helped them to adapt to their harsh tropical environment. Without a doubt, the greatest achievement of the Maya is their intelligence.
A few examples of the Mayan’s achievements were their trade routes, understanding of numbers and their architecture. In the article it was said the, “ Everything was carried by hand or boat.” (Document A, Box 1) The Manyan trade routes were remarkable because they were so genius. They had
The Aztec’s and Incas seemed like a very well devoted tribe to one another. Even though they only lived a few thousand miles away from each other and didn’t know about each other they were well known. The artifacts left behind shows that they were very advanced, and the food they ate they knew how to take care of their bodies. The Aztec and Inca’s also knew how to prepare for war also. These two tribes are some of the best warriors known to man.
The most remarkable achievement of the Maya was their calendar. Every Mayan achievement listed, however, are very remarkable in their own right. Remnants of the Mayan society are still seen throughout our world today from all four of their discussed achievements. One could have an ethnocentric denial of the sheer remarkability of the advancements of the Maya because of some of the advancements of the Western World at that time period, however, the Maya achieved feats that the Western World could not even fathom. In fact, much of Maya architecture, such as their pyramids, cannot even be replicated today. The Mayan civilization may have physically declined centuries ago, but their concepts and principles will forever keep the Maya alive.
The Mayans and Americans have many differences. Mayans and Americans have their own religions and beliefs such as what kind of gods/god they believe in,and what they believe what they have to do to stay alive.
“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” This quote from Arthur C. Clarke nicely represents the admiration that studying the Mayan, Aztec and Incan civilizations can inspire. In the current age of technology it is very hard to imagine these ancient civilizations accomplishing their many deeds without any modern tools or computers. The Mayan, Aztec and Incan civilizations of Central and South America made major advancements in engineering, math, astronomy, writing agriculture, and trading. The Mayans lived in Southern Mexico and Central America in their capital, Tikal, which is in present day Guatemala.
Mexican civilization is very much affected due its contact. with France, New Orleans of the USA.”Design, style and gastronomy are expressions that show the vibe of Yucatan, sentiment relevance more than its personal kingdom.”(4).
When a sports team is created, during its season, it will encounter significant events such as its first score in a game, an incredible pass or trick, and the trophy at the end for beating a team. These can be categorized by the most remarkable to least remarkable. In this situation, that sport team will be the Maya, only a thousand years ago. The Maya had thrived during the classic period of 250 to 900 CE, in Mesoamerica which is now present-day Central America. They had expanded their land and used a system called slash-and-burn agriculture, raising crops such as corn, beans, and squash. The Maya had also used their own complex calendar, which was used to predict moon eclipses and also to mark when their religious ceremonies were going to take place. Their rituals consisted of human sacrifice to please the gods. The Mayan's city-states were as statuesque as can be, and were also used only by human labour with no beasts of burden. They had also set up about 150 trading ports along the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula to trade foreign goods to expand the variety of their inventory. The...
However, the Inca just had a strong relationship and equilibrium with nature. The prime example with this connection was Machu Picchu, a central city and worship cite for the Incas. Another interesting fact was that each of the indigenous cultures possessed specific skills. For example, as I have mentioned, the Inca culture was advanced in architecture, Aztecs produced some of the first known tiles of red color, (however blood was used.) and finally, the Mayans were advanced in both mathematics and science, (which the catholic religion has strongly
The greatness of the society may never be fully comprehended due to a lack of historical evidence, but the small amount of historical documents that remain paint an impressive picture of the Toltecs. Their use of beautiful architecture, great artwork, and the unique configuration of their city leaves many wishing that more was known about the culture of the ancient civilization. Perhaps the Toltec legacy can be found in how highly both the Mayan and Aztec civilizations praised them. Their influence can be found in the grandeur of both the Mayan and the Aztecan societies as both have attributed the advancement of their religion, art, writing, medicine, and metallurgy to the obscure Toltecan civilization. Only time will tell if more will be discovered about the mysterious civilization that is the
previous civilization, and many civilizations to come. One of their greatest achievements was in the field of medicine because they replaced myth with medical fact, this laid the foundations for modern medical practice. They discovered the cause of various illnesses and developed a cure. They practiced both medical and spiritual healing so the worlds of religion and science could coexist. With the discoveries of several papyrus’, we are learning more and more about their knowledge of the human anatomy.
The European and Mayan civilizations had inverse experiences during the Classical era, but they were similar in some aspects. While the Mayans were basking in their glorious success as a civilization, the Europeans stood in their shadow. However, after the Renaissance Era, it was as if the Mayans stood in the shadow of the European revival. These two societies have a definite inverse relationship, in that while one was succeeding, the other was squandering. For example, the forward thinking of the Mayans and their knowledge of arithmetic and science was overshadowed by the revolutionary ideas created by European scientists, the fact that the Mayans had created a complex, and accurate calendar wasn’t nearly as celebrated as a European man who got hit by an apple.
The Maya was an ancient culture that flourished on the Yucatan Peninsula in Americanism. They inherited this land from the Olmec, another ancient culture, who lived on the peninsula before them. As well as land, the Maya took on other Olmec customs, such as religion, architecture, and hieroglyphic writing. The Maya used these skills and built more complex versions, as well as inventing a few ideas on their own. These “ideas” included Calendars, Number system, trading throughout large regions, and the architecture of great temples and buildings. However, which of these achievements were the most remarkable? I believe that the Mayan number system is the most remarkable achievement. It consists of all the numbers we use today, and a very simple way of showing the place values. I will explain to you why I think this, as well as measure the achievement it three
