Laxmi Sitaula Sarah Frazier English 109 10/05/2017 Well-Behaved Women Seldom Make History Laurel Thacher Ulrich, who is a professor in Harvard university is an editor and author of half-dozen books. She uses the phrase “well-behaved women seldom make history” in her journal articles which was published in 1976; called “Vertuous Women Found: New England Ministerial Literature, 1668-1735”. She did not know that her phrase will be so popular and printed on t-shirt, greeting cards, mugs, and other places. This essay focus on how well-behaved women also could history. She gives the examples of; Mae West, Rosa Park, Martha Ballard, who all are women and they create a history. They are well-behaved. That is not compulsory that to create a history people needs to fight and behaved rudely. Sometimes we just have to say ‘no’ to change something in the society. She supports men to achieve success and create history but men never mentioned that. If same situation happened and men support women or sometimes they do not support. Women create a history or achieve success then credit goes to the man either husband or father or some other male relation. Women are of course more caring, kind and supportive then men because of their nurture, but being that really make difficult for women to live how she want to live her life? Women could take care of her house as well as they can go outside of the house to work.
