Children are the future of this generation. Their success is important for the wellbeing of what the future has in store for everybody. When you typically think of children they’re doing their own thing like playing outside, on their phones, or even some videogames so why should we be worried about their influences? Many are often see well-behaved children as to have success in the future. But what does it mean to be well behaved? To be well behaved means to conduct oneself in an appropriate manner, such as being polite, orderly, obedient, and disciplined are just some examples of a well-behaved child. There are different factors that can influence a child to be successful such as family, friends, health, and financial sustainability of the parents. The ten-question survey we created will amplify our research question on what leads children to be successful. The survey would be best for this research targeting UTRGV students and parents because they are part of a population in the valley where some of grow up in a hard place and grow up to succeed. The survey is broken down into three sections, the first section addressing their own children or children they work with and the child’s behavior and education. Section two addresses how the subjects perceive the behavior and education of a child and the last questions are designed to find the occupations, ages, and financial help of the subjects surveyed to see the differences in evaluation of the information can be beneficial to see the similarities and differences of the mind of future parents and caregivers in order to increase the success of children. The survey allows us to open a door and look at the different perspectives of parents, teachers, and students also serving to see the different point of views of the participants. The parents as the role models for their children that means many children will do what their parents mostly do, hence, is really important that the parents teaching their child. However, the research find out that the parents with higher socioeconomic states are more involved in their kids’ schooling (Chu et all, 1996) The reason seems obvious to me due to the importance of parents’ education, if the parents having more school, than parents could be like a ‘coach’ for their kids, that parents could guide the road of succeed. Also, the parents with higher education might provide a favorable environment since is easier to get a steady job with higher education. Children are our future of the world. They are the ones who will create the next generation. Therefore, it is important to start young within children, teaching them right from wrong. It is important preventing them from following the same negative patterns as kids of today. Many kids today do not really have a strong discipline, love and support at home. I knew very early in life that I enjoyed working with children; I am drawn to their eagerness to learn, their trusting nature, and their inquisitive minds. It has always been a joy for me to be around children, who are eager to learn. Children are thrilled when an adult takes time to read to them. After hearing a story only a couple of times, they are like a tape recorder set on replay. Their thirst for knowledge is overwhelming. At the elementary level, children also tend to have a very trusting nature. They rely heavily on their elders for guidance. Most children are very honest with their feelings and don't try to hide them. This is a crucial time in a child's life; it is a time when teachers and parents should be molding them for the future. It seems their minds are always working on something which makes them extremely inquisitive. Their curiosities seem never to be satisfied. Children are always asking "why?" even when they know the answer. The inquisitive child wants to know the how's, when's, and where's of everything.
Parents must have sense of ownership in their child’s success. Parents must know what is going on with their child at school and in their personal life. If there are negative indicators, action must be taken to correct these issues. A child’s success is affected by the interactions of the parents. If there are distracters in the personal life of the child it can be detrimental to their education; therefore, these distractions need to be minimized if not removed.
It’s very important for parents to plan early to ensure their children turn out well. In the beginning, parents should have experience in raising children because they are the future of our world. I completely agree that taking care of children is one of the greatest and hardest jobs in society. Children need a lot of attention to help them learn how to deal with life. Also, parents have to show their children how to be behaving and what is the best to do in certain situations. Furthermore, parents may interrupt the children is action if it harms them or their friends. Many children think that they know more than what parents can understand, and sometimes parents do misunderstand what their children are going them through. I believe that it on depends the parents and their use of techniques to ensure their children turn out well such as show respect, modest, and how to be successful in their life.
Involving parents with school activities will benefit the school parent and the child. Teachers will have more help and will know the children closely if the parents are involved. Children feel happy and secure to see their parents around and it makes them confident too. We can start the involvement by inviting parents as volunteers for story reading and school outings. The importance of parental involvement is stressed in Lev Vygotsky's Sociocultural Theory which states parents, caregivers, peers, and the culture at large were responsible for developing higher order functions. On the other hand, parents will also have a sense of inclusion in their child’s development process. Educational achievement is an important adolescent issue. As compared to that of children, educational achievement during adolescent has greater implication on one’s future. Steinberg (2013) defines educational achievement in three different but related concepts; school performance which refers to grades obtained in school, academic achievement which refers to student’s performance in standardised test and educational attainment which is defined as number of years of schooling completed by a student. Many research have been conducted regarding this topic to find the factors that can explain the differences in students’ educational achievement. Although studies have shown that personal factors such as student’s ability and motivation affect his or her achievement significantly, environmental factors are also extremely crucial (Eccles & Roeser, 2011). One of the most discussed environmental factors is home environment. It is said to be a better predictor of educational achievement than school environment (Azmita, Cooper & Brown, 2009). However, home environment is a broad term and there are many ways in which student home situation can affect their educational achievement. One of them is parental values on education (Steinberg, 2013). In simpler term, this refers to how important education is to parents. Research has shown that the higher the values parents put on education, the better their children educational achievement (Jodl, Micheal, Malanchuk, Ecles & Sameroff, 2001). Parental values on education are usually shown through their expectation and involvement in their children’s education (Steinberg, 2013). Undoubtedly, these influence all three concepts of educational achievement.
In conclusion, in reaching the best for their children, parents prefer a stable economic and living situation, so they invest their youths in bringing that to be; however, the pleasures of parenting are so rich and ample that they can experienced at an earlier age in life. Young parents can have the greatest opportunity to bring up their children with flying colors and an extra care.
I always believed that you could see the effects of bad parenting, by studying the youth of today opposed to the youth of sixty years ago. The effects of bad parenting can be measured in many different ways. One of the things that we all forget about is “lead by example”. What we as adults, teach our children, is what our future generations will be as people.
Recent studies on parental involvement in education have found that there are many benefits for both the student and the adult when parents become involved in their children’s education. Without parent support, it is very difficult for a child to be motivated. From what I have seen growing up, only a small percentage of students are self-motivated, so it is absolutely vital that parents assist in the motivation process. I found this table to be particularly interesting and important.
Reviewing the news recently, we will find out that there are so many crazy things which have been done by the naughty kids. They have a common ground that they have received too much love and connivance from the whole society. They can do whatever they want to do on condition that they can enjoy their cozy life offered by their parents.
