Wedding Speech from the Father of the Bride Thank you for that welcome, I haven’t had applause like that since Frank’s bachelor party in Angels lap dancing club! Ladies and Gentlemen, for those of you who don’t know me I’m Mike, Claire’s Dad and on behalf of my wife Angela and I, I would like to welcome you all here today to celebrate the marriage of our daughter Claire to Frank I would like to welcome Frank’s Mum, Margaret, partner Don, sister Helen and husband Simon as well as all our relatives and friends. I know a few have travelled considerable distances to be here. Thank you, its very much appreciated. At this point I would like to mention three important people who are not here today. Firstly Frank’s Dad who died a few years ago when Frank was a boy. Of course I never knew Dave but I have recently seen a photograph and could hardly believe it wasn’t a photo of Frank, they were so alike. I believe that’s where Frank gets his passion for fast cars and motor bikes from. I would also like to mention Claire’s Grandfather Les, who also passed away about ten years ago. Claire and Les shared the same birthday He doted on Claire and vice versa. And I would like to mention Doris, Claire’s grandmother, who died just a month ago, she was so looking forward to seeing Claire walking down the aisle today but unfortunately she succumbed to her illness. They are all here in spirit and I’m sure they are ... ... middle of paper ... ... morning. At our silver wedding celebrations, we brought the box down from the loft, you know the one with the wedding album , order of service sheets etc. I also came across these (produce two L Plates) As I said I’m fully qualified now and I was going to throw them away, but then I thought I know who could do with these (give one each to the bride and groom.) Just before I close, ladies and gentlemen, some of you will know my own parents will celebrate their own Golden Wedding in February. My Mother was born Molly Robson and became a Bartle , now fifty years later it’s typical of Claire to address the inbalance. So ladies and Gentlemen would you please be upstanding… the toast is Mr and Mrs Robson.
While Doris Goodwin’s mother and father were a very important part of her life growing up her sisters were just as important. She talks about how while Charlotte, her oldest sister was not around as much as her other older sister, Jeanne she was still very important to her. She goes into detail about a shopping trip that was taken with the oldest and youngest siblings and how after the shopping trip to Sa...
Firstly, on behalf of the bridesmaids, I'd like to thank the groom for his kind words, and I have to say they have done an excellent job today and look absolutely wonderful.
A way of making each person understand what is being asked of them is to offer them a leaflet explaining that they are consenting to their information being shared and why their consent is needed. Also, another form of consent is implied consent, this is when an individual is unable to explicitly say that they want their information to be shared but their behaviour displays that they are willing for their information to be shared. In the study of Anwar, it is clear to see that his GP did not have any consent off Anwar, the GP just assumed that Anwar would be okay about being referred to the diabetes clinic. Although the doctor did not have any consent off Anwar, the GP passed on the information to the diabetes clinic for Anwar’s safety (The Open University, 2014,
Ladies and Gentlemen – I’ll start by thanking Brian on behalf of the bridesmaids for his kind words.
Informed consent is the basis for all legal and moral aspects of a patient’s autonomy. Implied consent is when you and your physician interact in which the consent is assumed, such as in a physical exam by your doctor. Written consent is a more extensive form in which it mostly applies when there is testing or experiments involved over a period of time. The long process is making sure the patient properly understands the risk and benefits that could possible happen during and after the treatment. As a physician, he must respect the patient’s autonomy. For a patient to be an autonomous agent, he must have legitimate moral values. The patient has all the rights to his medical health and conditions that arise. When considering informed consent, the patient must be aware and should be able to give a voluntary consent for the treatment and testing without being coerced, even if coercion is very little. Being coerced into giving consent is not voluntary because others people’s opinions account for part of his decision. Prisoners and the poor population are two areas where coercion is found the most when giving consent. Terminally ill patients also give consent in hope of recovering from their illness. Although the possibilities are slim of having a successful recovery, they proceed with the research with the expectation of having a positive outcome. As stated by Raab, “informed consent process flows naturally from the ‘partnership’ between physician and patient” (Raab). Despite the fact that informed consent is supposed to educate the patients, it is now more of an avoidance of liability for physicians (Raab). Although the physician provides adequate information to his patient, how can he ensure that his patient properly ...
Outlined by the Australian Medical Association’s (AMA) revised Code of Ethics (2016), medical consent is valid if the patient has sufficient decision-making capabilities, it is voluntary, and the patient is fully informed of the information that is pertinent to the decision being made.
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. I would like to echo the groom's sentiments and mention that all the bridesmaids look truly beautiful, indeed.
Finally, on behalf of the bride and groom I would like to thank everyone for sharing their special day, it is a true millstone - sorry milestone in their lives. On behalf of myself I wish you'd all stayed at home - as things would have been a lot easier on me. I started planning this speech about 5 months ago and I expect you all feel like I've been delivering it equally as long. But now it gives me immense pleasure (not to mention relief) to invite you to all stand and raise your glasses in a toast to John and Angie. To love, laughter and happily ever after. To John and Angie CONGRATULATIONS
During the past few days, many of our friends and family have come to our home to show their love for us and for Arlyn. I have been especially moved by the fact so many of her teachers and principals have shown up and cried with us. I am also touched by the love her young friends had for her. Our memories of this sad time in our lives will therefore not all be bad.
Nurses run into patients’ rights daily like autonomy and informed consent, the rule that deals with patient’s informed consent is the patient will benefit by obtaining adequate and accurate information. The commitment to provide care and the needs of the patient, one reason an informed consent form wouldn’t be signed because of confidentiality, which means that patient wants total privacy; no one is to know he’s there, no paper trial. Another reason would be if no risks were involved.
I, of course, knew my mother as a mother. As I have reached adulthood and become a mother myself, I have also known her as a friend. My mom shared much of herself with me, and I saw sides of my mother as she struggled with her cancer that I had never seen before, especially her strong belief in positive thinking and the importance of quality of life. I was privileged to know so many facets of my mother, but certainly I did not know all. There were parts of her life that I didn’t see, relationships that I didn’t know about. Last night, at the wake, so many stories were told to me about my mom’s strength, courage, humor, kindness, her quietness, her loyalty as a friend. It was so special to hear of these things that my mom said and did, to know some of these other parts of her life. I hope that her friends and family will continue to share these stories with me and with each other so we can continue to know and remember my mom.
With this being said, it is important that the principle of informed consent becomes something that is extremely relevant to our society as a whole. As with medicine becoming more advanced everyday, patients should be explained by their physician exactly what kind of treatment will be happening to themselves as well as all of the possible outcomes associated with said treatment. This is important to discuss, as we currently live in a society in which everything is “Politically Correct”, meaning that is someone wasn’t told all of the available options that they had available to be treated with, or gave consent willing, could end up with lawsuits or worst case scenarios such as death. Regarding this, both patients and physicians have things at stake such as money, time, resources, and medical practices. So it is crucial that in this day and age that the principle of informed consent is practiced everywhere in order to ensure patient autonomy is
Consent is where a person provides either written, verbal or implied authorisation for something to happen (“Consent”, n.d.). Before any medical procedure, treatment or operation, the health care professional must gain consent from the patient. Under New South Wales law, failing to gain consent prior to medical treatment can result in legal action being taken and the health care professional being charged with assault and battery (NSW Government, 2005). For consent to be valid and legal, the patient receiving the treatment must be informed of, and completely understand their condition and the reason for their treatment in order to make the most appropriate and informed decision without any influence or pressure from others; the person must be informed of, and understand all the risks
Consent (in the medical sense) is only morally valid if it is freely given, informed, cooperative, and represents the values of both the patient and the physician. The amount of truth-telling between physicians and patients depends on age, sex, and background of the patient (Boylan 30). This effects what information the patient is told and how it is presented, so that the patient can handle it competently and not prove to be a threat to those around them. It is vital for privacy to be maintained between physicians and patients except when it poses immediate threat to others (Boylan 31). Culture and religion influence patient and doctor perspectives on illness and death (Campbell 57). In the Christian doctrine of faith, it is against divine
I miss her and I’ll miss her always. My aunt, Catherine passed away on Christmas 1997, and it was the biggest chock for my whole family and me. I was living in Syria at that time and my parents flew to Switzerland for the funeral.
