Wedding Speech Delivered by the Bride Hello everyone. I guess this is slightly unusual - the Bride doing a speech - but as you all know, the chances of me being able to stay quiet whilst everyone else does a speech were pretty slim. A good speech, they say, should be like a mini-skirt - short enough to be interesting, yet long enough to cover the essentials! So here goes........ Thank you all for coming to share the day with us. Many of you have had to take time off work and/or travelled a fair distance to be with us today - we really do appreciate the sacrifices that have been made for us. Of course, there are some faces missing from this celebration as I look round the room and for whatever reason, cannot be with us to share this special occasion. I'd like to make a toast now to the different people we've known and loved who are looking down on this celebration and hopefully having a little one of their own up there! Ladies and Gentlemen, would you please stand and raise your glasses to 'Absent Friends and Loved Ones'. Thanks to everyone who has helped in one way or another. I won't mention names as I'll more than likely forget someone and upset them! Special thanks to Mom, Dad, Irene and Jimmy for their generous contributions. Also, thankyou to Irene and Jimmy for raising James so well, althoufg I understand that the warranty's out of date and the refund deadline has long since passed. I think I'l... ... middle of paper ... ...finally start to let himself go! Anyway, thankyou James for turning up today, on time and appropriately dressed. (Turn to hubby) You are the love of my life, my best friend and now my hubby. I don't think anybody could be as happy as I am today and I can't wait for us to share the rest of our lives together. I'll drink my own private toast to James later. Iwould now like to propose another toast, this time to you, our guests. (Get hubby to stand up) Cheers everyone! I had a great laugh writing this speech and even more of a laugh delivering it - especially as the Best Man (and everyone else) had no idea it was coming and he was geeing himself to stand up!! Hope this helps other Brides planning a speech.
Firstly, on behalf of the bridesmaids, I'd like to thank the groom for his kind words, and I have to say they have done an excellent job today and look absolutely wonderful.
Lady Macbeth has a glorified idea of what it means to be masculine, so she thinks that she could achieve more without her femininity. Consciously, she wishes to be, “top-full/of direst cruelty,” (I.v.48-50). Right after this, she tries to turn into a less feminine person on her own. Taking control, she manipulates Macbeth and calls him a coward, and really pushes the envelope on murdering Duncan. Lady Macbeth even tells Macbeth the plan and then says, “Leave all the rest to me,” (I. vi. 86). This is a clear gender role reversal and is the first time she tries to force herself into a non-feminine role. Lady Macbeth shows that she can take charge, but her business-like tone shows that she isn’t allowing her womanly side come out. In fact, while Lady Macbeth is ready to take charge, she has subconscious reservations. She is not able to kill Duncan herself, claiming that “Had he not resembled/My father as he slept, I had done’t,” (II.ii.16-17). While Macbeth isn’t questioning her ability, Lady Macbeth’s tone is defensive, showing that she is trying to convince herself of the same thing. This suggests that perhaps, subconsciously, she isn’t sure about killing Duncan. Outwardly, she is confident and determined, making a

Ladies and Gentlemen – I’ll start by thanking Brian on behalf of the bridesmaids for his kind words.
In The Lady’s Dressing Room, Swift signals to his readers of his satiric literary persona through the use of both metaphorical language and tone. Swift begins to depict the exterior notions of women, that women within his society must be fully polished in order to fit within his masculine society, as they’re image would be negatively distorted if seen or done otherwise. Within this poem, Swift establishes this artificial facade through the use of irony and satire in order to distinguish the disparity amongst what is actually being affirmed by the speaker and what is truly implicit within the author’s intentions. Throughout the poem, Swift establishes this emphasis on metaphor in order to reveal to his readers the delusion of woman’s proper appearance as false, as women to Swift, have many hidden faces and qualities; as he exemplifies within the introduction, he states, “Fi...
According to the Journal of Applied Behavioral Analysis, "automobile crashes are the leading cause of death for those aged 3 to 33, with 43,005 (118 per day) Americans killed in 2002 alone" (Clayton, Helms, Simpson, 2006). Worldwide, vehicle accidents consist of 1.2 millions deaths per year, "behind only childhood infections and AIDS as cause of death amount people aged 5 to 30 years old" (Clayton., 2006). The annual cost of road accidents is estimated about $518 billion"(Factor, Yair, Mahalel, 2013). The fact alone of being in a moving, heavy vehicle is a danger in itself but individuals that do not wear their seat belts, talk on the phone, text, and do other distracting behavior also put themselves in even more harmful situations.
According to the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System, an estimated 777,200 children were determined to be victims of abuse or neglect by a protective service agency in the United States in 2008, and 9.1% of these children were determined to have been sexually abused (Draucker, 2011). Childhood sexual abuse (CSA) is a prevalent problem in the United States that is associated with many long term psychological, behavioral, social and physical effects on men and women (Draucker, 2011). These effects can make a person’s life a living hell. They turn someone into a person that they may not have been if the tragic event didn’t happen to them.
In the first half of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Lady Macbeth represents a preeminent id. Even though her conscience grows in strength throughout the play, a crucial difference between Lady Macbeth and her husband lies with her ability to stifle her ...

be here with us today. For those of you who don't know me, I have been a friend of the groom's for seven years. He has many special friends, and haying the privilege of being chosen as his best man, from such esteemed company, is an honor the likes of which I have never had bestowed upon me.
Finally, on behalf of the bride and groom I would like to thank everyone for sharing their special day, it is a true millstone - sorry milestone in their lives. On behalf of myself I wish you'd all stayed at home - as things would have been a lot easier on me. I started planning this speech about 5 months ago and I expect you all feel like I've been delivering it equally as long. But now it gives me immense pleasure (not to mention relief) to invite you to all stand and raise your glasses in a toast to John and Angie. To love, laughter and happily ever after. To John and Angie CONGRATULATIONS
Ladies and gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure, not to mention relief, to ask you all to raise a toast to the newly weds.
This research was conducted to investigate light intensity effects on lucky bamboo vegetative growth in Azad University, Abhar Branch during 2008. The experiment was arranged as a complete randomized block design with 5 treatments (0.75, 1.14, 1.89, 2.29 and 4.09 µmol∙m-2∙s-1) in 10 replication. Results showed that 1.89 µmol/m-2/s-1 had significant differences from others treatments. The higher level of root number, shoot length and total weight of plants were obtained in 1.89 µmol∙m-2∙s-1 reatment. Number of shoot, shoot length and number of leaf per shoot were differ in different nodes and were highest in upping nod.
Before I begin I would like to thank all of you here on behalf of my mother, my brother and myself, for your efforts large and small to be here today, to help us mark my fathers passing.
