Beowulf is a tale that consists of a man that came to the land of Herot to fight their beasty monsters such as Grendel, Grendel’s mother, and the Dragon. He came to the land for glory not Herot riches but soon received glory and riches for slaying all Herots demons that creeped on their lands. Beowulf fought many battles and within those battles he used different methods and weapons to prove his point of glory to which at the end win many different trophies.


First, Beowulf used different fighting methods in each of his battles such as in fighting one-on-one in the settings of his opponent’s homeland or turf. During the fight with Grendel mother the weapon of choice was a sword. “The he saw, hanging on the wall, a heavy sword, hammered by giants, strong and blessed by magic” (Beowulf, p. 61). Any regular sword and armor of any kind couldn’t be used to kill any monsters from the past spells that forbidden any weapon to defeat them. Fighting with the Dragon Beowulf weapon of choice was a shield. “Behind Beowulf shield; his own was burned to ashes” (Beowulf, p. 72). No weapons were really made to stop any Dragons hot, fire, and poisons breathe. The shield did him some good by blocking the fire of the Dragons breathe. After the fight with Grendel’s mother Beowulf earned the seat of the throne. “At the hall, bold, and war like, and with Beowulf their lord and leader, they walked on the mead-hall green” (Beowulf, p. 63). Beowulf a great hero to all men defeated two of Herots and earned his riffle position as king. The torn off arm of Grendel was a prize of Beowulf’s earnings. “From the rafts where Beowulf had hand it, was the monsters arm, claw, and shoulder and all” (Beowulf, p. 59). The arm of Grendel was showed the defeat and revenge of all the bodies he feasted from. The slaying of the Dragon Beowulf himself life ended in a result of one of the biggest award a men can receive which is a monument. “For ten long days they made his monument, sealed his ashes in the walls as straight and high as wise and willing hands could rise them” (Beowulf, p. 77).
