Pollution, Many people dismiss it, and half of the ones that recognize it don’t do anything about it. Though most people are oblivious and don’t care the rates at which pollution is created , the fact is pollution is a big problem and only we can stop it. Most pollution is caused by car exhaust, but burning coal in power plants and creating certain chemicals can also pollute the world. Although we could just drop cars altogether, we don’t because once again, not that many people care. Infact pollution won’t really affect people effective immediately, but if we don’t take care of it now the future will suffer. United States produces 30% of the world’s waste and uses 25 % of the world’s natural resources. Or money could be spent a little better,
Global Warming, global concern? I think not. I personally believe that the theory of global warming caused by the infamous carbon dioxide is false. Please, let me explain. First of all, there are more potent, harmful, gases being emitted into the atmosphere. Secondly, the temperature change in the 20th and 21st centuries is extremely slight. Lastly, the earth is currently recovering from a period known as the Little Ice Age.
... this fact, people need to identify this problem and deal with it. By increasing the gasoline tax by one dollar, we will eventually fix it. Public transportation and safety on these transit ways will help with this dangerous effect on the environment. Air pollution cannot be stopped, but it can be softened over time.
Case Study - Corporate Obstacles to Pollution Prevention. Overview This case focuses on corporate obstacles to pollution prevention. Pollution prevention can be complex, especially for large corporations. There are many different forms of pollution prevention, including emissions control devices and incremental changes in existing technology.
The Earth’s surface is covered by over two-thirds of water. With half of the world being covered by water; pollution in the water is a very big crisis that can actually be reduced to some extent. Water pollution is a human problem because it seems to be a recent development that started round the end of the 19th century. Scientists say that “humans have limits with an estimated 7 billion people on the planet, and pollution is a sign of exceeded pollution. According to the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) pollution is a serious problem. “Pollution from toxic chemicals threatens life on this planet. Every ocean and every continent, from the tropics to the once-pristine polar regions, is contaminated." Now that we know how serious it is, let’s talk about what pollution is, what causes it, the effects, and how we can help.
PURPOSE: To persuade my audience that we must take action now to control air pollution
One of the most dangerous environment issues Southern California is facing today is air pollution. This includes the burning of fossil fuels and natural disasters. Los Angeles is one of the most polluted cities in the world, and the most polluted city in the United States. I will research information about the causes, the effects, and the history of air pollution in the Los Angeles. For my research, I have relied mostly on, the school’s database and library, as well as current events.
Pollution occurs in many different forms such as, air, water, soil, radioactive, noise, heat/thermal and light. People from all around the world experience different levels and effects of air pollution. Millions of Americans live in areas where urban smog, particle pollution, and toxic pollutants are serious health concerns. If exposed to high enough levels of certain air pollutants one can experience irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat. Wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and breathing difficulties are other fatal effects caused from air pollution. Air pollution is a problem for everyone and can only be fixed if everyone were to work together to help prevent it as much as
ATTENTION GETTER: Every day, I see the effects of pollution. From the trash that’s thrown into bushes to the murky lakes to the smog-filled skies, these are examples of the negative human impact on the environment.
Water pollution has been an increasing problem over the last few years. Pollution itself is when a substance or energy is introduced into the soil, air, or water in a concentrate. Pollution comes in many forms; agricultural, urban runoff, industrial, sedimentary, animal wastes, and leeching from landfills/septic systems just to name a few. These pollutants are very detrimental to the environment. Whether they are alone or combined with another form of pollution they are very harmful. Over the last hundred years the problems with pollution have been increasing with time. This is due to both the increase in human population, and the increases in technology we have made as a society. If we plan on having our resources here for many years to come we are going to have to make some drastic changes in the way we treat the earth, and these changes will have to start with our pollutants. (Jones,1993,pp.4-15)
Air pollution according to the Wikipedia << is the introduction of particulates, biological materials, or other harmful materials into the Earth’s atmosphere, possibly causing disease, death to humans, damage to other living organisms such as food crops, or the natural or built environment>>. Therefore, human being should be aware of the facts that the environment and all living creatures are dying. They need to understand the importance of natural items, the nature, etc…
The highest concentration of air pollution in China is a perfect example of this issue. Since the industrial revolution the spreading of harmful gasses like CO2 into the atmosphere has caused high amount of air pollution, and China is one of the biggest offenders. Initially China was unconcerned about the gases they were emitting into the atmosphere, they believed that taking initiative on this issue would hinder their economic innovations. This is the main reason China didn’t agree to join the Kyoto Protocol in the early 2000’s, which was a treaty between most industrialized nations agreeing to lower their greenhouse gas emissions to combat global warming. Not agreeing to lower their emissions has caused China to be polluted to the high heavens. In many parts of the country all that can be seen is smoke in the air due to mass air pollution. Due to the astounding air pollution in the country, the Chinese government has made air pollution a national concern, “China is prioritizing pollution monitoring as it starts to implement its new environmental protection law” (Yang, 493).Currently China is trying to compromise on lowering their emissions in the current climate change protocol in Paris. The changes in the air are clear evidence of human impact on the environment, and China’s change in their position on this issue further proves the point. Clearly the world
Nowadays, most of our activity on the daily basis is contributing to that issue. For sure, there is no way to completely stop it because we cannot control the development of technology. Nonetheless, we can help reduce the problem if we know how. I believe more people would help if they educated themselves about this subject. Most likely, you will have to sacrifice your living style. The problem is that we are dependent; for example you need your car for everything because your car will take you places faster than walking. What is wrong with driving your car? Well most of them contaminate the air; CO2 is poison for us. The best solutions, if you want to keep driving without harming the earth, is to buy a hybrid car; or just try not to use your vehicle at all. Motor vehicles do not benefit us because we do not use them right. Besides, a research in europe proved that if you use the car wisely you can reduce the amount of CO2 it releases (Evaluation of Bypass Influence on Reducing Air Pollution in Vilnius City). When you start your car just make sure you do it slowly, it will take less time and it helps the environment. You don 't have to stop using your car completely just try to avoid traffic, because is better to speed up since it lowers the amount of CO2
Pollution is a worsening problem in our country nowadays. Not only is this faced by our country alone but in other countries as well. In my own opinion,
Every other day a new industries are being set up, new vehicles on roads and trees are being cut to make way for new homes. All of them, indirect way lead to increase in CO2 leads to melting of polar ice caps which increase the sea level and pose danger for the people living near coastal areas. Pollution can have an impact in our health not only affects people with impaired respiratory system such as asthmatics, but very healthy adults and children too. Exposure to pollution for 6 to 7 hours, even at relatively low concentrations, reduces lung function and induces respiratory inflammation and, healthy people during periods of moderate
Our planet is suffering from severe pollution, which ranges from contaminated air, water and soil as well. Humans are doing nothing to reduce the amount of pollution that is harming our earth. To understand how pollution works first you must understand that there are different types of pollution. The most common types of pollution and the ones that I will be focusing on which are the ones doing the most harm to our planet are air pollution, water pollution, soil contamination and littering. In order to help out and reduce pollution in our planet people need to be more aware of what these problems are and about the severe damages that they are causing our planet. Before industrialization really jumped into place and had an effect on large cities, nature had its own way of cleaning up its own air and itself. Wind scattered gases, rain washed many substances and the rest dissolved into the ground; while plants absorbed carbon dioxide and made it into oxygen. With big cities growing more every time and with more towns that were becoming more industrialized a lot of more waste began to be released into the environment and the atmosphere and soon this was more than enough for nature to handle. In order to stop and reduce pollution people need to understand the damage that it is causing our environment and our planet as well. People need to be more aware of how they can help out and do their part in reducing these problems that are causing our planet to die slowly with people not even noticing it.
