The girl when confronted not only by the death of her siblings but by this man telling her that she only has four siblings because two are dead, she remains calm and innocent to the man's rational words. However, when the boy doesn't get what he wants, the bazaar gift, he becomes angry and loses his sense of childlike behavior. In these two stories children are the main focus. However, in the poem, “We are Seven,” despite the tragic lose the girl is still able to look at the situation from her childlike standpoint, where she still spends time with the ones she lost.
