Animal farm tells the story of a group of animals rebelling successfully against the previous owner, Mr Jones, who was considered to be a tyrant of animal/manor farm.
The farm was planned to be communist place but because of most of the animals gullibility and unintelligence the pigs who where smarter took control and made a hierarchy and exploited the animals. Then eventually the pigs became more like humans doing things like walking on two legs and wearing cloths. However would animal farm be more interesting as a historical allegory of a simple fable?
For this story to work the writer, George Orwell, asks us to suspend our beliefs and imagine that animals can talk, have and show human characteristics and emotions. Also we are told to believe that animals can build machines such as the windmill and plan it out.
It can be argued that Animal Farm would be more interesting as a fable which is a story with a moral where the main characters are often animals. Commonly in fables the characters are usually animals like the Tortoise and the Hair which is a fable also like it Animal Farm has a moral teaching to people that power corrupts. As a fable with a moral Animal Farm would be interesting to younger kids because of the moral and it uses animals so kids can relate to it in different situations in the book and adults can remember it. As well as this Fables also represent human characteristics clearly though the animal’s characters like a sly fox or a sheep being stupid just like the sheep in Animal Farm. These would all be more interesting than an allegory and comparing it to a historical event from the past and making Animal Farm into a symbolic story.
However Animal Farm as a historical allegory is more interesting as a ...

When writing Animal Farm I think George Orwell’s intensions were to write a book containing crosses between a fable and a historical allegory when writing the plot according to the Russian Revolution events. Due to his use of language Orwell wanted the reader to feel different emotions at different points in the book like animals dying, Napoleons take over of the farm, Squealers speeches and the battles in Animal Farm, Battle of the Cowshed and the Battle of the Windmill. I think Orwell wanted to say more Mr Jones after the rebellion, Benjamin’s thoughts, Napoleons thought later on in the book and snowball after expulsion. Furthermore I think Orwell wanted to be more open about what his thoughts were about the different animals and how Orwell thought they would behave and express them more in the book and give more detail.
Animal Farm Book and Movie Animal Farm is a novel about farm animals running a farm and becoming self sufficient. It is a story with great detail and is a very good book to read because of it surprising events. If you have seen Animal Farm the movie, you would feel completely different. The movie has far less detail and events to make it as interesting as the book. Though the story is basically the same, the lack of details makes the movie dull.
Basically, in a nutshell, Animal Farm is a novel about farm animals triumphing over man only to fall prey to an evil and cunning dictator. It is a cleverly weaved story with surprising and sad events. But, if you have ever seen the movie version of Animal Farm, you would feel completely different about the story. Even though the movie gives a visual interpretation of Animal Farm, it doesn't quite sum up to Animal Farm, the novel.
Animal Farm is a story of the struggle for freedom and power. It takes place on a farm in England called Manor Farm. There are many different kinds of animals on the farm; these animals include horses, geese, dogs, cats, sheep, and pigs, which are the most intelligent of all the animals. The story starts out when old Major, an old, wise pig, calls a meeting in the barn. He tells the animals about a dream he has. The dream was about how the animals should rebel against the leader of the farm, Mr. Jones. He tells them that in the dream he remembered a song called Beasts of England. The song is about how the animals should rebel against the humans. He teaches the animals the song and tells them that he is going to die soon. A few weeks later old Major dies. The animals hold secret meetings about the rebellion a couple times a week. None of the animals really expected the rebellion to happen any time soon, but it happened before anyone expected. Mr. Jones started to neglect the animals, and one day the animals decided that they had enough. A cow broke into the building where the food was kept, and all of the animals decided to get some food. Mr. Jones and some of his helpers came out with whips as started lashing the animals, but were caught by surprise when the animals started to fight back. The men fled in panic, and before anyone realized it, the rebellion had begun.
By using characters people could sympathize with, Orwell brought the evils of tyranny to the attention of the world. It is ironic that the downfall of the windmill the animals tried to construct several times throughout the book can represent the downfall of the Soviet government. Orwell died long before this took place. Once Russia, the communists changed the country’s name to the Soviet Union, but after its collapse more recently, the country is back to Russia. In the book, the farm was titled Manor Farm and changed to Animal Farm.
Most directly one would say that Animal Farm is an allegory of Stalinism, growing out from the Russian Revolution in 1917. Because it is cast as an animal fable it gives the reader/viewer, some distance from the specific political events. The use of the fable form helps one to examine the certain elements of human nature which can produce a Stalin and enable him to seize power. Orwell, does however, set his fable in familiar events of current history.
The novel “Animal Farm” was written by the author name George Orwell. Animal Farm is a novel based upon the lives of a society of animals wanting a better life for themselves living on the Manor Farm. The setting of the book is a farm called “Manor Farm”. The theme of this book is that the animals should make a stand; if they continue doing the same thing they will continue getting the same results. It is better to be free and starving, than to be fed and enslaved.
Animal Farm is an allegory of the period in Russian history between 1917 and 1944. It is a satirical story written in the form of an animal fable. In writing Animal Farm as a fable, George Orwell is able to present his subject in simple symbolic terms by treating the development of communism as a story that is taking place on a single farm with talking animals. The characters of Animal Farm represent figures in Russian history during the Russian Revolution. Places, objects, and events of the Russian Revolution are also symbolized in Animal Farm.
Animal Farm is not only a novel about rebellious animals; it is a study of the corruption of society and humanity in an enclosed environment. The actions of the anthropomorphic animals that now rule Manor Farm represent the human society as a whole. Animal Farm by George Orwell is a novel which contains syntax that exemplifies power and hierarchies and diction that portrays character’s will and intention.
...ale Animal Farm proves to be a symbolic and understanding book. In its pages we can see the contrast between a supposedly communistic state where everyone is equal and the same, and how in the end it only leads to a total dictatorial establishment of totalitarianism, where everything is controlled by an elite group. Though Animal Farm was established with the idea of every animal being equal, in the end, the voice of the scheming pigs was the only one heard. Secondly, the book powerfully symbolizes key figures that have appeared in history. It shows how Karl Marx affected the Communism movement in the character Old Major, and also displays the kind of government that lights the fuse for a revolution in the tempered Farmer Jones. Though dark and menacing, Animal Farm paints a very brutal yet truthful view of the dangers when a society moves to the ideas of communism.
Animal Farm, a novella by George Orwell, tells the tale of the downtrodden animals of Manor Farm, who after much oppression from their master, take over the farm for themselves. In the beginning it seems like the start of a life of freedom and plenty, but a ruthless and cunning elite emerges and begins to take control of the farm. The animals find themselves ensnared once again as one form of tyranny gradually replaces the other. The novella is a critique of revolutionary Russia and idealism betrayed by power and corruption. Orwell uses allegory between Animal Farm and the Soviet Union to highlight the corruption of socialist ideals in the Soviet Union, the power of language and propaganda, and the dangers of a naive working class.
Although consisting of only 95 pages, Animal Farm is effective in delivering its message. Orwell uses a variety of literary devices in Animal Farm that make it a deceptively complex and effective novel. I have decided to examine three of these literary devices:
Fables are meant to have a moral, and the moral of Animal Farm is that all revolutions fail in the end. Orwell could have written a long essay expressing such ideas but it is doubtful that many people would now be reading it. The success of Animal Farm is that it tells the sad tale of a group of creatures we care about, and how their hopes and dreams were dashed. Beyond the surface story, however, is the message that for ordinary people revolutions simply change one set of rulers for another. It is a depressing message but people are prepared to listen to it because it is told in a simple and entertaining way like all the best fables.
Animal Farm is political satire by George Orwell in 1945, and made into a silver screen adaptation twice, once in 1954 and once in 1999. This comparison is going to use and compare the book to the 1999 movie adaptation of Animal Farm, not the 1954 cartoon versions. As you could imagine, there is a lot in common between the movie and the novelization of Animal Farm, given that the movie is based off of the book. The basic plot line remains the same, including Old Major inciting a rebellion, Mr. Jones being run off the farm, the struggle for power between Snowball and Napoleon, the 7 commandments of animalism and Napoleon's subsequent changing of them to fit his own needs, human attacks and sabotage of Animal Farm, Napoleon running Snowball
Animal Farm, a novel by George Orwell, was a story of courage and corrupt government. It was set on a farm in England. This setting is very important to the story itself and the characters in it. It made the plot a lot more interesting and influenced all the characters.
Animal Farm’ is a novel by George Orwell which carries allegorical aspects. In other words, this novel is mainly focused on the Russian Revolution of 1917. Orwell has portrayed this revolution and the era of Stalin in the Soviet Union (USSR), in a satirical manner. Through out the novel, he has brought out a strong criticism about the power- hungry human kind and the way it affects a nation.
