Due to many wet processing steps, such as de-sizing, bleaching, dyeing or finishing in aqueous solutions, the water consumption and chemicals used will differ depends on which type of washing they will use and how many orders are there. The variations also dictate the amount of wastewater that needs to be treated and the different treatment processes that are necessary and feasible. a textile factory manager’s objective is to recycle the water internally and to cut down the amount, as well as the chemical load, before releasing wastewater into the environment. Before its release in the water bodies, the water is typically treated again by different means.

Waste- water management helps in protecting and keeping the environment safe from harmful effects, therefore this paper can use by organisation that may be looking to setting up in-house processing units.

This will help people to use this research study further on effects of water pollution. Therefore this paper will also examine the role of washing in textile and clothing industry.

The goal of this project is to understand how much water is being wasted by the washing units and analyzing the possibilities of adopting waste water management techniques.

Introduction on Water It covers 70% of our planet, makes up 75% of our body, it is necessary for survival and it is declining at a rapid rate (http://www.sscwd.org). It is water. Unfortunately, clean water is rare, almost 1 billion people in developing countries do not have access to water everyday. “Yet, we take it for granted, we waste it, and we even pay too much to drink it from little plastic bottles” (The Water Project). Use of earth’s natural resources should be seen as prosperity, although it is taken for granted, every aspect of daily life revolves around the environment, forcing water conservation to be necessary for future on this planet.

Waste water treatment plants are essential to communities of all sizes and must work efficiently. Waste water treatment plant primary priority and responsibility is the treatment of incoming sewage water by the removal of biological and chemical wastes so it can be treated and recycled for future use. There are many government agencies and standards set forth to govern and observe the successful treatment of sewage such as: the Department of Environmental Quality, the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System and the Clean Water Act of 1972. Compliance and constant monitoring of the treatment plant’s operations are important; as they protect the surrounding community. A spill or backflow of sewage due to a complete system malfunction could potentially be detrimental to the environment and local community. A precise system, of which must be compliant according to government standards, is critical to maintain low levels of wastes that are returned to neighboring water systems after treatment.

Consequently, this saves the environment by reducing water consumption and waste pollution. The elimination of pumice powder and dust creates a less intensive and safer working condition. The consumption of contaminated water can be dangerous for health reasons and several people have passed away from these water-borne diseases. The above Pie-Chart shows the percentage of the contents of waste water. Wastewater mainly consists of the water wasted by toilet flushing which is highly contaminated with ammonia and urea. Secondly, the wastewater consists of water wasted by house cleaning which may consist of wastes like soaps and detergents. Thirdly, it consists of laundry waste and then there is wastage of water by bathing and kitchen use.
