August 6, 1945 the day the world would change forever, the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. I believe that this bomb was absolutely necessary to end the Second World War because if the bomb had not been dropped many more lives would have died. Before the bomb had been dropped 36 million men had already been killed in the Pacific War and the Japanese used the Samurai fighting technique. This mindset is that one will go out to fight and die for their country, dying in war was honor these men did not come home and if captured they killed themselves. Having found the bomb we have used it. We have used it against those who attacked us without warning at Pearl Harbor, against those who had starved and beaten and executed American prisoners of war, against those who have abandoned all pretense of obeying international laws of warfare. We have used it in order to shorten the agony of war, in order to save the lives of thousands and thousands of young Americans.”(Document B) If we had not used this dreadful bomb or discover it first then our enemies would have and with them doing so our world would be in ruins. Without the use of this bomb our nation would of had to surrender and then so many more lives would have been taken. More Jews being killed in concentration camps because of Hitler's extreme followers, more american men unable to get home being trapped fighting in the Pacific. Who knows what would have happened in France and England with Germany and Italy fighting against them. Our entire world would have been in shambles and the fighting and mass murders would have continued. “The British, Chinese, and United States Government have given the Japanese people adequate warning of what is in store for them. We have laid down the general terms on which they can surrender. Our warning went unheeded; our terms were rejected. Since then the Japanese have seen what our atomic bomb can do. They can foresee what it will do in the future.” (Document B) Many countries had tried to reason with the Japanese but their emperor would not listen, their government would not listen to what any one had to say. The Japanese had no want to give they were ready to fight to the death and not give up until every last person on either side was exterminated.
