Americans will say that the Revolution was justified, while others will full-heartedly disagree. As an American, it is easy to justify the Revolution’s existence and its purpose, to grant America freedom from England. The risk that the colonists took involved the possibility of never becoming free from British law and rule. It was a calculated risk, however, that the people were willing to take. With strong political and military leaders like George Washington, Samuel Adams, John Adams, Patrick Henry, Benjamin Franklin, and others, the battle-weak country was inspired to fight for their family, friends, land, and ultimately, their freedom. At the beginning of this several week long project, my opinion on the American Revolution was firmly that it had been justified in all ways. America might not be free now if the seven-year-long war had not occurred two-hundred years ago. In addition, England should not have been able to continue amassing wealth from the Colonists and giving them nothing in return. Previously, I had not thought about the other points of view involved in the Revolution, such as the British loyalists and pacifists. I understand now how terrifying an event like this must have been for each and every one of those groups. Despite my new understanding of other views, I continue to maintain my belief that the American Revolution was a justifiable
