Rome was a great city with much potential at hand. The Roman empire had strong leaders that actually cared for their people more than their own power. Their intentions weren't always for something that would benefit themselves but that would benefit Rome. Rome was growing rapidly and its future was very bright. Things were looking great for Rome until things got out of hand. Many reasons contributed to the fall of the Roman empire, but I think the biggest reason was for the corrupt public officials and emperors that began leading Rome. Leaders are very important because the leaders of Rome are the ones that decide what's best for everyone and they're who the people are looking up to. The lower class probably knew what would be best for the Roman empire because they've seen the worst of it while the wealthy hasn't. Even if the poor could probably build Rome into a stronger place, they still had no chance because of all the money that the Roman leaders had. The leaders of Rome had enough money that they could basically buy there way into anything and not have to worry about anything. They were greedy and selfish leaders which we know that no empire can stay strong with such leaders. The reason they could do all these things is because there were no rules of succession for the emperor. The armies of the Roman empire began to become more loyal to their leaders than to Rome. This was bad for Rome because all the generals were fighting for who was the most powerful general or who was the greatest and strongest general. The fact that they were fighting for power meant that they were probably doing everything in any way they can to get that power even if it destroys Rome. This means that the armies were being loyal to leaders that were acting on their own selfish
