President William McKinley’s death was unjustified because he was a caring man. He cared for the citizens of this country. He was caring for his wife and first lady, Ida McKinley, even though he had business to attend to, and though he had no choice but to go to these meetings and conferences, he still stayed by her side through her illness. He went to an event the night he was shot to celebrate America’s win in the Spanish American war. People say that President McKinley cared so much about the world and what its outcome would be in the future, that when people heard he was assassinated by Leon Czolgosz, they were out for his blood. (Kingseed 1) President McKinley was also forgiving. He forgave Leon Czolgosz, his assassin, right after he was shot. He forgave people that he had not even met, just so they would know that he was not holding anything behind. He was trying to leave every bad thing behind him. He even apologized for the things he should have down but did not. In short, he was trying to make a mends before it was his time to go. (Wells 2) However, many others believed that he was not a good president.
Some even called him a killer because he had ordered his men to take down the Spanish, and that Cubans died also. Some people said that his demons finally caught up with him and that is why he was assassinated. Leon Czolgosz said he did not want to plead innocent because he killed the President of the United States for his enemies. He said that most of his enemies were workers. (YouTube) The accusations that said President McKinley was a bad president were wrong because, the people that said he supposedly was a killer were talking about the war that he was fighting to save another country, which meant he cared about the lives of innocent people who were getting there country taken buy another that wanted too much power. And it was clear that he was not the one to pull the trigger. And the Cubans that died were on the wrong team and wanted their country to be “stabled” and with one ruler. Which made them one of the enemy. The workers were obviously mad that they did not get as much money as the next which would make them hate him more. In conclusion, late President William McKinley was not a kill, a bad president, and a bad person. He was a caring, kind hearted president and family man. He did not deserves to die for any reason. He has had his justice even though Leon Czolgosz was executed instead of getting life in
prison.
On September 6, 1901, Leon F. Czolgosz had murdered McKinley at the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. President McKinley was “celebrating the mighty United State he had build”, not expecting to be close to his death in just a few short hours (Rauchway, pg. 7). McKinley was a conservative president who also was an experienced congressman and governor of Ohio that promised prosperity to the country “McKinley had presented himself to the voters as the embodiment of conservatism, and he looked the part. His stern, square features, topped by the level of a dark brow, had all the expression of a closed door.” (pg.4). His promises of prosperity to the country came true bringing the country out of crisis and bringing it back to life. Rauchway claims that McKinley was an astounding President whose life came to end to soon by the two bullets fired from the man’s gun. Czolgosz knew the consequences of killing the President, but believed he did his duty in doing so.
