It was not all as good for the Colonies as it seemed, however, for with that came the Declarative Act. The Declarative Act states that, “That the King’s Majesty, by and with the consent of the Lords spiritual and temporal, and Commons of Great Britain, in parliament assembled, had, hath, and of right ought to have, full power and authority to make laws and statutes of sufficient force and validity to bind the colonies and people of America, subjects of the crown of Great Britain, in all cases whatsoever” (Temperley). This nullified any progress the House of Burgesses had accomplished. There was still hope, however, for the King George III to be appointed a new minister. He made a name for himself in the Colonies during the French and Indian War.
In conclusion due to over 150 years of neglect the new colonies had develop a culture and heritage quite unique to the Old world of thought. If Britain had not treated the colonist as cast off rubbish and had given them some guidance, during that 150 yrs., the colonies would not rebel. But after 1763 they insisted that they conform to the old British ways and that would eventually force the colonies into revolution.
Some say that the Revolution was destined to happen ever since Settlers set foot on this continent, others argue that it would not have happened if it weren't for a set of issues that finally drove the colonists to revolt. Ultimately, Britain lost control in 1765 when they gave in to the Stamp Act Congress’s boycotts against parliamentary taxation and gave them the idea that they had the power to run a country. To a lesser degree, Salutary Neglect led to the conception of a legacy of colonial religious and political ideals which set in motion an eminent conflict. During this period, England “forgot” about the colonies and gave them colonists a taste of independence and suspicions of individual political theories. It was a good year for a revolution, 1776. But it didn't start off quite as well as the colonists would have liked. When George Washington agreed to take command of the American forces in 1775, he probably didn't realize what he was truly getting himself into. Washington took command of an army made up of old men and young boys that had either come from their farms or the street. The army was short on weapons and gunpowder, lacked uniforms, and was racked by disease and drunkenness. Washington understood that what lies ahead would be difficult, considering he would be facing the most powerful country in world. But he probably didn't expect his worst problems to come from his own army, which was an undisciplined and untrained group that would eventually tamper with his great patience. Through it all he would stay determined and always try to stay one step ahead of the enemy.
In the world’s lens during the 1760s, the British empire had a clear and prominent control over the colonies. However, by the mid-1770s the Americans became enraged enough to declare war against the British for independence. Due to Britain’s massive imperial presence around the globe, the British civilians had a strong inclination for a successful outcome. Instead, the colonists pulled a surprising victory from what should have been a swift defeat. While the British had an abundance of advantages, they lost the Revolutionary War because the British army underestimated the colonists’ perseverance for freedom.

The American Revolution was sparked by a myriad of causes. These causes in themselves could not have sparked such a massive rebellion in the nation, but as the problems of the colonies cumulated, their collective impact spilt over and the American Revolution ensued. Many say that this war could have been easily avoided and was poorly handled by both sides, British and American; but as one will see, the frame of thought of the colonists was poorly suited to accept British measures which sought to “overstep” it’s power in the Americas. Because of this mindset, colonists developed a deep resentment of British rule and policies; and as events culminated, there was no means to avoid revolution and no way to turn back.

In 1686, King James II wanted to improve his control over the New England colonies. He established the Dominion of New England with that specific purpose in mind. The colonists despised the Dominion. In 1689, the Glorious Revolution ultimately replaced King James II with Mary and William of Orange. Specifically, the Massachusetts colony responded to the news first. A mob uprising in Boston occurred to put an end to Sir Edmund Andros’ stint as governor of the Dominion of New England. Furthermore, New York had a similar uprising in response to the Boston Revolt. Overall, the actions of Great Britain sparked the revolting in the colonies.
As Americans, we all have rights of our own like freedom of speech, laws to abide by, and a nation that stands together. Sometimes we do not come to an arrangement with others and what we say or do does not matter to anyone. In society, we have some people who are supposed to be important to us, to protect us, and to give us the right rules to live by but who do not care, and does not want to listen to anybody. In this essay, there are two documents that explain how the nation went from a sheltered nation to an independent country. On July 4, 1776 Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence, which was adopted by Second Continental Congress. The purpose of the pamphlet was to achieve independence and a gain of respect. Jefferson and the colonists did not have any authority nor did the things that they tried to get British to agree with was overlooked. The King of Great Britain (King George III) did not care about what the colonists wanted, or what type of rights they were looking forward to agree with Britain It was not anything that did not matter to the King of what happened during the time of the American Revolution. The colonies suffered twenty-seven wrong doings because of King George III. The king forced taxes on the colonists without their consent. He came in between the colonists’ rights to self-government and a judicial system. He did not want any of his governors to pass a law that was important and for none to be elected as ruler. While the governments tried to come together to an agreement with Great Britain, King George continued to ignore them. Politically, the French and Indian War torn apart Britain and its American colonies. In Document C, George Washington is asking Robert Orme to let him become a higher rank in the military. He wanted more power. Washington wishes to serve under, "a Gentleman of General Braddock's abilities and experience." Although he was very sincere when he wrote this, Britain was not giving what he truly wanted. Upon this note, George Washington went against the British government. He started a revolution. Reverend Thomas Barnard also had some similar views and thoughts about Britain and its colonies. In his sermon of 1763, he says, "Safe from the Enemy of the Wilderness, safe from the gripping Hand of arbitrary Sway and cruel Superstition, here shall be the late founded Seat of Peace and Freedom." He believes that the American people have suffered and died on this land and they deserve more. They deserve freedom. Britain was losing control of their colonies. The people of the colonies wanted freedom. All of these political events led to the Revolutionary War.
The film, “The Madness of George III” opened in late 1788, approximately seven years after Great Britain’s loss of the American colonies, a loss that continued to weigh heavily on the fragile mind of King George III. Surrounding the king were those who would supplant him and his government. One of which included his eldest son, the Prince of Wales, who with the help of others, conspired to overturn the government.
