The use of propaganda can be a hit or a miss. What I mean specifically by that is the media can be a beneficial tool for the public, or it can be a negative tool used to misinform the public that allows them to form these mislead opinions about certain things. Mike Haynie took a stand on this stigma and wrote a very interesting article that breaks down how veterans are portrayed through the media and how misleading it can be. Lloyd Sederer on the other hand, took a different approach stating that the media can be a useful tool that veterans can benefit from. Some of the public would provide a helping hand to these veterans to help them with their disorders. One of these particular individuals is Lloyd Sederer. Lloyd Sederer recently wrote an article about how the media can be used in a positive way to help veterans get the help they need with their mental disorders. In Lloyd Sederer’s article, War Veterans, PTSD And The Media, he states that “veterans carry invisible wounds with debilitating emotions and already suffer from the kind of shame that has them isolate themselves and because of this veterans far too often reach for a gun to end it all”. He states that this is usually a failure of hope and community involvement with these individuals. Lloyd Sederer would have the media be used in a positive way to help convey that effective treatments exist for these mental disorders that veterans are coming home with. He would have it so that veterans would know how to access the care that is necessary to help benefit these veterans and also protect them and their privacy and not damage their job opportunities because of their issues. He would also have the media stress that the veterans aren’t the only ones who suffer, that the families also suffer. He states that “we can see the road signs of breakdown including marital fights, unruly children and domestic violence and we need a message that says that family, work and community are among the most therapeutic interventions we
