9/11, the attack on the World Trade Center that left the world stunned, lead the United States to proclaim a war on terrorism. This war has been the focus of world politics for most of the 21st century and has brought the United States plenty of troubles. These troubles include the creation of new threats from invading the Middle East, to paranoia among the citizens worrying about an attack on United States soil and cities. The United States’ war on terrorism has been ineffective, failed security measures and poor use of resources, the creation of more threats when trying to stop terror while media coverage gives terror groups legitimacy, and the lack of concern for domestic terror.
An issue of the United State’s war on terror is the TSA’s ineffective use of resources to properly protect U.S citizens. Airport TSA security in the United States is colossally insufficient, “In a study run by the Department of Homeland Security, to see if agents could sneak in banned substances onto flights, 67 out 70 or 95% were able to get past security measures” (Bradner).
