Why would the War of 1812 be known as the forgotten war? I am led to believe that the war of 1812 was considered the “Forgotten War” because it wasn’t the easiest of wars fought against the British. This war showed much significance. It had marked an end to the British invading western territory. On the other hand, it was a struggle for the Americans. Initially, this war this war had many significant aspects; Schultz writes, “(1) in politics, it affirmed the importance of a strong national government; (2) it vacated the British from the West.” (Schultz 2010 page 162).
