In the play A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, the Younger family had lost the glue of their family, Walter Younger also known as Big Walter. Mama. Honey, Big Walter would come in here some nights back then and slump down on that couch there and just look at the rug.(990). Walter Lee was his son who cares more about himself than he does his family. Then, Walter's sister Beneatha comes into the kitchen and begins discussing how it's their mother's money, not Walter's and it would be better to spend the money on Beneatha's college tuition instead. Talking about how his mother was going to use the insurance money on him is all Walter tried to do. When Mama finally got the insurance money, she had told her family she bought a house, not specifying the amount of money she spent and Walter became very upset. When Mama tells Travis first, Walter immediately made a loud noise and turned away from everyone in a fury. Walter expected Mama to give him all of the ten thousand dollars.
