Imagine a world where no one can “Wish Upon a Star,” where no one can follow the “Bare Necessities,” a world where the “Happiest Place on Earth” never existed, and a world where no one could find their “Happy ever after.” Missing those things would have made the world look more bleak, and none of that would be possible if it were not for Walter “Walt” Elias Disney, founder of Walt Disney Studios, one of the biggest movie companies in the world. Even if there are people who do not like Disney movies or parks, people should still appreciate Walt Disney as a person and how he got to where he did. For instance, when he was working with Laugh-O-Grams Studios his company went bankrupt Disney was at the bottom of the barrel when he decided to start over in California, and somehow, he managed to still have the faith to carry on as he did. Then, Walt had to have a lot of faith when he decided to break from Mintz to start growing Disney Studio and create Mickey Mouse. Even then, he had to have enough faith to make the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, as well as the other films Disney managed to produce over the course of the early half of the 20th century. According to Steven Watts, the author of Magic Kingdom: Walt Disney and the American Way of Life, Disney was described by Bobby Burgess as “a good Christian man,” which there are some evidence in Walt’s works and character that reveal some godly traits. One of the first things that can be seen as evidence is Mickey Mouse, one of the most iconic cartoon characters to this day. Although Mickey maybe a cartoon, Disney made Mickey with parts of his personality in the Mouse. In fact, Walt Disney was the original voice actor for the character. Walt made Mickey to be an innocent, peaceful, loving, and joyful character. These are traits that Disney shows through his own life. Again, Disney was not a perfect man, no human is perfect, but he did live a life that resembled a Christian life; even if his Christian life was not that evident. Walt Disney even said, “I believe firmly in the efficacy of religion, in its powerful influence on a person's whole life. It helps immeasurably to meet the storm and stress of life and keep you attuned to the Divine inspiration. Without inspiration, we would perish. All I ask of myself, 'Live a good Christian life.'
