Back in the roaring twenties America was seeing such world-changing phenomenons such as The Great Gatsby, and penicillin, but what took the world by surprise was none other than Walt Disney and his lovable creation, Mickey Mouse. Walt Disney, throughout his entire lifetime and career, always had an idea, a spark, and a way to make things better. Even in the face of tough times, he never failed to keep his optimistic attitude and kind faith in humanity from infecting those around him. A major part of his success was due to the technological innovations that revolutionized the film industry.
One of these ways is having a website with an e-commerce enabled online booking system which enables their consumers to book their time and stay with Disneyworld however and whenever they want to, therefore allowing Disney to get their revenue in more ways and in turn allowing them to grow and develop. Another way that Walt Disney World has embraced technology is with their recent addition of what they call 'Magic Bands '. Guests are able to use these magic bands for many things these include; Unlocking the door of their Disney Resort hotel room, enter theme and water parks, check in at Fastpass+ entrances and much more. The Magic Bands have allowed the guests stay with Disneyworld to become much more effortless, which will make it more likely for them to come back.
...cartoons. Roy, Walt’s older brother and Walt moved to Los Angeles to set up the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio. Here they made the "Alice Comedies" and "Oswald the Lucky Rabbit." In 1926 Walt changed his cartoon studio name from Disney Bros. to what we now know it as today, Walt Disney Studios. ( www. JustDisney.com NP) Things took off in November of 1928 when Mickey and Minnie Mouse made their debut in "Steamboat Willie." This movie is what made Mickey, Minnie and Walt Disney famous. Early on, Walt Disney was working so hard he was having some trouble sleeping, so he took some sleeping pills to help him sleep. His wife, Lilly was unable to wake him up one morning and she called the doctor who prescribed a long trip for rest and relaxation. (Ford NP) After Walt came back home well rested, he went right back to work. He began to work on the first Disney movie! Walt wanted each of the dwarfs in “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” to be a distinct individual. The solution was to create names for them that would reflect their personalities. (Miller NP) "Snow White," which took three years to make, was released in 1937. This was the beginning to what we all know today as Disney movies.
Ever since Mickey Mouse was created in 1928, Disney has been at the forefront of the cartoon world. Every youngster has a favorite Disney character or movie. Over the years they have created some of the best movies of all time. However, Walt Disney hasn’t always been successful. He survived bankruptcy in 1922 and had to rethink how he was going to approach his life. I think it is safe to say the approach he took was the right one. One of his first productions was an animated short film Alice’s Wonderland, which turned into what we know as Alice in Wonderland. Mr. Disney’s first attempt at a feature-length animated film debuted in 1937 after three years of production. His masterpiece of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is one of his most awarded movies. Following World War II Disney Production was in a substantial amount of debt. They needed to come out with a new movie that would win over the public of America. They came out with just the right movie, Cinderella, in 1950. This was their biggest hit since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs some 15 years ago. Because of Cinderella Disney Productions stayed in business and could go on to produce many more heartwarming movies.
Together with his brother Roy, and Iwerks, he opened Walter Elias Disney Comrade ’s Studio apartment .They entered into a distribution muckle with New York distributor Margaret Winkler for Walt's 'Alice Clowning ', an animated shorts based upon ‘Alice's Wonderland’. They invented a part , Oswald the Lucky Rabbit for which they contracted the shorts at $1,500 each. In 1925, he recruited ink and-rouge artist Lillian Bound, little knowing then that the two would become lifelong collaborator . He even created his own amusement park called Disneyland which opened on June 17th 1955. This amusement park has been running strong ever since and shows no sign of it's going
The entertainment industry holds the immense potential for growth and development. The industry is constantly evolving and Walt Disney emerge as a global leader and recognized as the world’s second largest media conglomerate in the terms of revenue after Comcast. The Walt Disney Company is a multinational entertainment conglomerate headquartered at California, United States. The company integrated its products into five target segments are as follows: (1) Media Networks (2) Parks and Resorts (3) Walt Disney Studios (4) Disney Consumer Products (5) Disney Interactive. The company has strong diversified product portfolios and generate high returns and revenues from all the target segments but the media networks contributes
The Walt Disney Company is a highly diversified media and entertainment company that has been growing by leaps and bounds since its inception in the late 1920’s. In the past few decades, The Walt Disney Company has expanded into numerous markets and diversified its business greatly. The company states that their corporate strategy is targeted at creating high-quality family content, exploiting technological innovations to make entertainment experiences more memorable, and expanding internationally. Upon studying the happenings of the company throughout the years, it is easy to see that the company is executing this strategy well through numerous strategic moves in the industry.
In reviewing the vast corporation of the Walt Disney Company and all that it has to offer, one profound statement made by Walt Disney himself comes to the forefront, “I only hope that we don’t lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse” (Walt, n.d.). This statement suggests that the company has a strong focus to continually guide them in the way of the original idea of the company. Even as it watches the changes taking place in society and adapts to the new technologies and innovations, the Walt Disney Company has been able to implement diverse strategies for its growth and prosperity.
In conclusion, Disney has worked excruciatingly to get to where it is today. I think that Disney will continue to grow. But what happens to Disney all depends on the economy and technological advances in the world.
The company that I choose to explore is The Walt Disney Company. Walt Disney started the Disney Brothers studio in 1926, after years of working as a cartoonist. I selected this company due to the fact I am a fan of their products and services. Disney produced some of my favorite films like Aladdin, Hook and The Lion King. After I visited their website, I discovered that Disney owns multiple media outlets, in such areas as film, Internet, music, broadcasting, publishing and recreation. According to Disney’s “The mission of The Walt Disney Company is to be the one of the world’s leading producers and providers of entertainment and information. Using our portfolio of brands to differentiate our content, service and consumer products, we seek to develop the most creative, innovative and profitable entertainment experiences and related products in the world”. The Disney brand is doing exactly what their mission states.
One of the key factors of the successful diversification is the very strong branding of the name Disney. That the name was famous after the success in the early years made it among other things possible to go into the theme park industry. Evaluated isolated, the theme parks was a success. But when also accounting for the synergies created, the decision to go into this industry was a huge success. It has created a spiral of synergies, where the characters in the movies get more popular due to the parks, as well as the fact that when people are visiting the parks they get stimulated to buy the merchandise. This is just one example of the synergies that exist in Disney. When Michael Eisner took over control in Disney, he kept focusing on same corporate values as earlier, which are quality, creativity, entrepreneurialism and teamwork. These values have been preserved despite of the size of Disney, and are an important factor in sustaining and building the Disney brand.
The Walt Disney Company is known throughout the world as a leader in entertainment. The strategies that the Walt Disney Company have used include competitive advantage, a growth strategy, and a renewal strategy. When a person mentions a theme park, Disney is the first park that comes to mind. They were not the first theme park, but they have mastered the art of creating memories for adults and children alike. As a former employee of Disney I can vouch for the amount of effort that goes into creating memories for families. Disney is a leader when it comes to the theme park business, and other parks look at Disney as a leader. An example of this is that other parks will not raise admission prices, until Disney first raises their prices. WESH.com said "It remains to be seen if Disney's move will trigger a round of similar increases at other Orlando theme parks. Historically, when Disney raises its prices, the other parks follow" (2011, p.1). There is not a company in the world that can provide the "magic" that the Walt Disney World company can provide (Disney.com, 2011).
In conclusion, Disney appears to be a very strong company financially. They do not have any major red flags. Their liquidity ratios and other information does not seem to be alarming in any way. They have been around for many years and are extremely successful, so any obstacle in their way will not be an issue. They will be able to work through it and bounce back from it without a problem.

His early struggles and determination created the path for him to build the Disney empire and legacy to live on long after his death. Disney’s dreams, visions, and aspirations went well beyond the animation on a roll of film. Those dreams would one day become a reality that lives beyond his death for millions of people every day that enjoy his movies, books, characters, soundtracks and theme parks. Disney made a place that people could escape to from their everyday realities by bringing his dreams to life as well as
