Skrrrrrrrt!! I pull up to my college in my new maserati I felt pretty cool until I met my roomate Bobby. College is pretty cool don’t mess around like a fool but my day got even better when I found out there’s a pool. My college is really neat, and farly sweet it was pretty cool when I heard someone yell “yeet!” Some people fail college, and that’s not me let me tell you about a story that sounds full of glee. Waking up in the morning and getting to class is hard because there are lots of distractions when I was trying to get to class and time was always on my tail. The hallways were like impossible to get through and I seemed to always forget my pencil. Honestly I don’t even want to get started on my roomate Bobby he’s always in the bathroom,
he never cleans up his clothes, and WOW! He is loud but the worse thing of all about Bobby is PRANKS! Bobby would always prank me and the other people can’t stand him either. What my favorite part of college was my professor Mr. LongBaggyJeans he’s so great but the thing I never got about him is he always wore long baggy jeans I mean he had a thing for style...if it was the 1970’s. There is one professor I didn’t like though which was Ms. JohnCena witch I honestly think she had a thing for John Cena. In college the classrooms were loud and you could barely ever hear the professors and there's always that group of jocks who seem not to care about college and the professors don’t really do anything but yell “shut-up” but nobody even stops. Now I stay away from the jocks and try to tell Bobby to not be the way he is but honestly I don’t think I’d be the man I am today if it wasn’t for big ol’ Bobby. Mr. LongBaggyJeans & Ms. JohnCena are still great professors (even though Ms. JohnCena does get on my nerves.) I also know now to watch out for Bobby’s pranks. I hope you learn something from this and don’t go through (as much of) what I went through.
The article “ Waking Up and Taking Charge” by Anya Kamenetz is a passage from her book “ Generation Debt: Why Now is a Terrible Time to be Young” which was published in December 2006.The passage talks about taking a stand against student debt and how college becomes more and more out of reach each year. Student debt as a whole, not only college loans but also credit card debt for young adults.
The start if college is like the end of one’s childhood. Yet I had no intension of letting that go when I woke up yesterday at 7:00 am. Still, like high school, my mom dropped me off and picked me up; copping almost the exact same routine from the four years I spent in high school. However, the movie Monsters University directed by Dan Scanlon is an exception, and it does show a correct portrayal of what college is really like. During the movie, two different types of college students, Mike Wazowski and Sulley, the son of the best scarer, attend Monsters University. Mike and Sulley pick their major based on their preferences and talents. And while Mike studies hard, pretty much all the time, Sulley does not. My behavior change project was attempting to have a more regular sleep schedule. This project was challenging to me because I typically have a hard time falling asleep and waking up, and I usually procrastinate leading to many late nights. I think the biggest challenge that this change presents is slipping up and staying up late or sleeping or napping can mess up your whole cycle of sleeping and take an even longer amount of time to correct. In the beginning keeping track of my sleep felt good because I knew that I was getting enough sleep and it gave me an excuse to stop studying and go to bed. Ultimately though, making a conscious effort to track my sleep and get more sleep was more stressful than jut letting sleep happen naturally.

My phone alarm goes off and wakes me up at 8:45 in the morning on this bright and sunny Monday. I get up, take a quick shower, quickly get ready and walk out the door and into my car by 9:50. I am blasting the radio to Taylor Swift and Luke Bryan and I have the windows rolled down enjoying the fresh air while I am on my way to my college classes. I am driving the back roads from Holland to Allendale for close to twenty-five minutes in order to get to my first of three classes at GVSU, beginning at 11:00 AM. I go through this routine day in and day out because I am a college commuter student. There are a lot of different experiences available to both commuter students and students living in dorms and even though each one has its own individual values, either position makes college an adventure of a lifetime for each student.

On a regular basis I don’t typically remember my dreams or even try to remember them. Keeping a sleep journal was a very hard thing for me to do. It was also difficult to know in what specific stage I was in during different times throughout the night. I can’t say for sure the amount of time I spent in each stage either. I can say that I could barely hear my alarm about two hours into the night, so I consider that to be REM because normally I hear my alarm just fine in the morning.
