It doesn't take much to make your community a better place, every little bit helps. I've been volunteering more and more ever since my freshman year in high school, starting with volunteering with my school's JROTC program at St. Mary's Dining Hall, a kitchen that feeds the homeless. From this first volunteering experience, I went on to start volunteering more. I was able to learn about more volunteering opportunities through Key Club. From there I volunteered in either donating candy for our school's trunk or treat, canned food for a drive, and participate in other organizations that helps the needy, like Bread of Life. Other clubs have opened up other community service opportunities, such as CSF with small opportunities like writing holiday
People become involved in community service for different reasons and it is up to the individual to realize if it is worthwhile and why they are helping others. Community service brings a nation together. Every country wants its community to be disciplined and work for change. Community service is the best way to inculcate responsibility into individuals. This is where I come in, as a volunteer, as an activist for a change and assistance. I have been inducted and a member of three unique clubs with a core purpose of community service and assistance to others. I have been apart of CSF, California Scholarship Federation, for three years and counting. Each system it is required for obtain fifteen hours of community service, whether be with an organization or school based activity. California Scholarship Federation is an exclusive community of college bound scholars who share resources, provide peer tutoring, and pursue success through community service and academic achievement. I became inducted into NHS, National Honor Society, my sophomore year. Since then I have been an active member participating in every community service opportunity our club participates in. In addition to the club's community service, we as members are required to obtain a certain amount of community service outside the club in order for our membership to not be revoked. NHS
"Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." is a quote that comes from William James, a great philosopher. This quote is saying that your actions do make a difference, no matter how small, and no matter if you think they make a difference or not. Every little thing you do has an impact somewhere, on someone, and on something. Actions do speak louder than words, and you never know how far down the line those actions will be felt. Community service is a great thing to put time and energy into. There are a lot of positive impacts that are made by individuals who contribute to community service projects. There are many different associations and activities that one can volunteer for to help out the community. I have done many different
I would contribute a lot by being a part of it. First of all I am good at coming up with ideas. That is good because it we are coming up with ideas for community service I can help come up with a new idea. If I come up with a really good idea, or help with one that is a good thing. I am also a very hard worker. Being a hard worker is very important because I will do my very best on all projects. It also shows that if I am having trouble with something, than I can work to overcome that problem and do better than I would have
There is something about helping other people, or the community in general, that I love. I did well above the amount of community service needed to apply for the National Honor Society, and I did it all because I like to do it. I have been doing community service since I was about eight or nine years old, and even then I was doing it because I wanted to do it. I started doing community service through the girl scouts, and after that I started doing it on my own. I have volunteered to do stuff such as helping at; cub scout day camps, park cleanups, river cleanups, community days and much more. I know that as long as I have the time to do it, I will continue to actively volunteer for the
For example, one can volunteer to clean up their community. This could mean cleaning up litter, doing yard work for someone in need, cleaning up an abandoned property, and many other things. This is important because it can not only make one's community more appealing, but it can also help to reduce potential health hazards. Another example of volunteering could be providing for the needy and homeless. People living in a community are what make the community, which means helping fellow citizens is a fantastic way to be involved. Soup kitchens and homeless shelters are great places to do
Within any community we must take an active role by volunteering. Volunteering can be anything, from ones time, money, food, or even clothes.
There are many activities that will help the community. Another way that I have experience is picking up trash. This one is very important because you are helping the environment and town that you live in. So why not help your environment to be able to apply for a scholarship. It’s also a fun way to meet people that enjoy making a difference. Picking up trash is one of the most common types of community service. There are so many volunteers a day picking up trash in their neighborhood and all around town. To be able to get involved all you do is call the Midland City Department and they will be glad to guide you where to go so you can help our community.
Volunteering enables an individual to make a positive impact on his or her community, while empowering the individual to better his or her life. This summer, I had the opportunity to volunteer at many diverse locations. From the hospital to the local library, I truly value my experience and treasure everything it has thought me. Volunteering lets us experience and learn things that we otherwise would not have learned; volunteering opens doors for us that we may not have been able to open before. Volunteering provides us with guidance and tolerance which we may use in the future to aid us in our decisions. At first glance, volunteering may seem to only benefit those who are helped, but on a deeper level, one can realize that volunteering benefits the volunteer as much as, if not more than, those who are helped. Not only does volunteering make a difference in one’s community, but it also helps the volunteer become a smarter, happier, friendlier and more caring individual.
Since my freshman year of high school at Jordan, I have been in the Aspirations in Medical Services, AIMS, Academy. This program allows students to explore health related careers and really emphasizes the importance of going to college and volunteer work. Throughout high school, I have completed many volunteer hours in the Empact Long Beach and Bike Uptown programs and also at the Long Beach Veteran Affairs Hospital. I also played on the school water polo team and swim team. My family would greatly benefit from this scholarship if I were to receive the Community Leaders Award.

Community service is a voluntary, unpaid act of kindness that an individual perform to benefit and help others who are in need. It is important for individuals to do community services. Volunteering in your local community is great way to give back and set a positive example at the same time. Let’s take a look at some of the problems in our community that affect many people.
Volunteering is so much more than a way to benefit oneself; it is a social activity in which one gains valuable skills. Finally, the easiest and most simplest way that one can contribute to the community is by donating. Donations do not have to be necessarily financial, they can be personal hygiene items, clothing, and even food. With this said, I plan to donate to my community every time that I am presented with the opportunity to do
A reflection of my volunteering experience can be summarized in two words: Life-changing. It is hard to explain the feelings that occur when you involve yourself in selfless acts for your community, such as volunteering. There is a feeling in your heart that you cannot ignore, maybe it is the happiness you feel or the overflow of emotions in helping others. In other words, it is a feeling in which you want to share with others. Maybe with a friend, maybe a classmate, maybe a family member, or maybe even a stranger. Either way, spreading how life-changing volunteering can be is a great start to making a positive change in your community by simply by involving others.
“Organizations and agencies that use volunteers are providing important services at low or no cost to those who need them. When a community is doing well as a whole, its individuals are better off, too.” This explains that when people in communities work well together, it can make a huge difference in people’s lives. People who volunteer are reminded that there is a whole world outside of them. “Both the people you are helping and your fellow volunteers can give you new insights. No matter what groups of people you’re working with, you’ll find that they have information and ways of looking at the world that can broaden your horizons.” Always think about other people and places outside of the community. Another benefit that comes with volunteering as a community is that people get to view how others live. “It’s eye-opening to realize that doing even small things can have a big impact on
