Have you ever thought about volunteering? Why is volunteering for a non-profit organization a good idea? How could being a volunteer benefit you? Volunteering your time can be a good thing. Not only would you be helping others, but you’d also be helping yourself. I am a strong believer in karma, the belief that what goes around comes around, so the idea of helping out in the community seems like it would produce nothing but good mojo. Of course, I don’t expect everyone to share my opinion based on a belief. Fortunately, there are plenty of other reasons why volunteering your time at a charity is a good thing: garner experience, improve character, and make you a role model for others. One way that volunteering for a charity can help you is …show more content…
I understand that in life some people make bad choices. Unfortunately, these choices often lead to ending up in jail or in trouble with the law. Volunteering can be a form of rehabilitation to help these kinds of individuals get back on their feet. Showing good character after making a mistake in life can help change someone’s opinion of you.
The final way that volunteering is a good idea is it helps you be a better role model to the younger people in your life that looks up to you. The best feeling is knowing that the people that look up to your are getting the best example to admir. Having kids or being an older sibling is a good example of why you should want to be a good role model. Providing a good example to others is an amazing opportunity because it also sets the example of the future. Showing the next generation a better way is improving our future way of life. In conclusion, volunteering can help you gain experience, become a better person, and guide others to strive to be a positive impact in their midsts. No, you don’t get paid for it, but it helps you become a better person. Bettering yourself is always a good thing. I know it may be hard to find the time but just an hour here or there is still helping; every little bit counts. Volunteering is a good way to improve yourself and set a good example in
volunteering is important in the public sector because it helps the public services save money other than the military as the military reservists get paid but it is still voluntary. I got all my information from the websites which are for the organisation. the benefits of volunteering are:
Why I want to volunteer I am directionless. Lost in a sea of people; people who all seem to know what they want to do with their lives. Volunteering can help me find a direction, a path that I want to be on. Assisting patients and workers provides more information on working in a hospital than any course or the internet can provide.
It helps a person make new friends and it is good for increasing the number of people one can fall back to when they need someone to listen to their problems. It is also helpful with building one’s social and relationship skills. “[Volunteer service] gives [a person] the opportunity to practice and develop social skills” (Saisan and Smith). Another benefit is that it is good for one’s physical and mental well-being. “Volunteering can provide a healthy boost to your self-confidence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction.”
My most significant and meaningful volunteer experience came when I was the assistant coach for Pinewood Preparatory School’s Junior Varsity baseball team. On the team I helped the student athletes learn how to become better baseball players and, in turn, helped them to become harder workers, which hopefully allowed them to do better in school. One instance in which this were most profound was when, after getting onto a player named “Dalton” for his laziness when it came to running the accustomed after practice sprints, I had got through to him that nothing was going to be easy when it came to baseball or school. This was, in fact, his first year playing baseball and for being a first timer, he was actually quite good at it, and through his
If you had the opportunity to change the world and your life, would you? I have many experiences with volunteering and each time it has left an impressionable effect on me and benefitted the world because of it. Volunteerism gives a person the opportunity to change people’s lives, including your own. Volunteering is crucial to a functioning society and can better the world one person at a time. Volunteerism is essential to creating a functioning society, personal well being, and advancing careers.
For example, students that volunteered, or participated in a community service organization are sometimes genuine out of empathy to others. This can be supported by altruism, which involves helping others for unselfish reasons (Lilienfeld, 2014, p. 517). According to the article “Volunteering/Community Service”, the author stated, “young people who volunteered for environmental organizations generally did so to help other people (52%)”. This demonstrates the concept of altruism because young volunteers did it out of unselfish interests and that they did so to help others. The article continues to describe strategies that can be utilize to increase the number of young people to volunteer essentially reaching out to them, showing them role models, and discussing the experiences of volunteering with them. Also, students engage in volunteer work can be due to situational influences. They are more likely to help in community service when they have spare time than when their schedule is
Volunteering is an important contributor to our society. It is also a great opportunity to learn different skills, especially young people, and they will become a part of who you are. Your future employers will thank you for it, as will any college or university that you decide to apply too. It is also a perfect way for everyone to meet different people and experience different things. Volunteering not only actively will help people; it also helps the environment. Most of all, it allows you to become a better person for what you have
...teer experience. I highly recommend volunteering to anyone, because of all the great things it will teach and because of the positive impacts it make on one’s life. Volunteering will teach an individual many of life’s greatest lessons, and lets an individual grow into a better person. Volunteering teaches to let go of their ignorance and false notions of world problems and lets the volunteer learn about the real, and sometimes unattractive, condition of people in the world. Many people think that one person cannot make a difference in the world, but volunteering teaches a person to at least try to make a difference in one person’s life and to build on that. Additionally, volunteering teaches a person to be leader who can inspire others to volunteer. Volunteering is an incredibly didactic experience that will forever inspire the volunteer to be a better person.
During the summers of 2013, 2014 and 2015, I volunteered at my mother's Second Cup cafés accumulating over 300 hours in total. This volunteering experience helped me develop self-esteem, socialization skills, surmount shyness and become a strong team player. I contributed by serving customers, brewing and grinding coffee, conducting inventory counts and making simple drinks. I plan to volunteer again next year. The experience encouraged me to volunteer at my previous school's CASA science camp for one month.
A reflection of my volunteering experience can be summarized in two words: Life-changing. It is hard to explain the feelings that occur when you involve yourself in selfless acts for your community, such as volunteering. There is a feeling in your heart that you cannot ignore, maybe it is the happiness you feel or the overflow of emotions in helping others. In other words, it is a feeling in which you want to share with others. Maybe with a friend, maybe a classmate, maybe a family member, or maybe even a stranger. Either way, spreading how life-changing volunteering can be is a great start to making a positive change in your community by simply by involving others.
Volunteering benefits a person by building connections with peers, improving family life, expanding career skills, overcoming self doubt, having lasting life impressions, and creating new opportunities. Just a small act can make a huge difference in someone’s life. The future is dependent on the individual person and the people they surround themselves with. Just a few hours will change both the volunteer’s life and the one that is in need.
#Donating time to a charitable cause is beneficial for society as a whole, in addition to feeling good on a personal level. Volunteering your time at the local soup kitchen allows you to make sure people get the nutrition they need, enables you to comfort those who are struggling, and improves your community. #Good nutrition is essential for all of us. People who eat healthy meals are properly fueled to make the changes they need to progress their life.
Offering financial or other incentives to encourage people to volunteer risks undermining the voluntary ethos. Discuss. Volunteering is a service provided at no cost by non-profit organisations. Volunteers deliver goods and services, directly or indirectly, to individuals or groups who need them (Wilson, 2000).
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 62.8 people volunteered through or for an organization at least once between September 2013 and September 2014. Volunteers are an important part of the nonprofit community. Almost all organizations started with an idea and the hard work of one or two people. Many organizations operate solely with volunteers. Others use volunteers to expand their programming efforts.
Its a very useful, promising, and beneficial experience that every teen should want to be a part of. Volunteering gives people a sense of fulfilment, and the joy of knowing that so many people need help and being able to be that person to render those services makes a better person. Community service should not be a burden for any teenager, but a special gift being given to the community by a special individual. Community service should be a mandatory high school graduation requirement because it builds ones character, limits the rate of teenage delinquency, and establishes a path for a better future as an individual.
