Creating a Beloved Community Imagine a happier community. Imagine a cleaner community. Imagine a community where less people live in poverty and more have what they need. These things can all become a reality. Our community can become a kinder, better place. This community can receive many benefits by improving what it already has. The community can improve by increasing the number of volunteers and the number of opportunities available. Volunteering can help people in our community get what they need. Volunteering can keep teens involved and improving our community. It can also allow willing people to help improve our community, one opportunity at a time. Poverty is a huge issue in our community. Maybe some people do not realize how large a problem it is. Maybe some think …show more content…
Volunteering could keep teens out of trouble. Some teens in our community need to understand that they cannot do whatever they want and that they will face consequences. We also have teens that do not care about the people who need help. Both of these groups would benefit from volunteering. It could keep teens out of trouble; they could spend time helping the community instead of hurting it. It could also show teens how fortunate they are to have the things they do and not to take them for granted when people in this community are barely getting by. Volunteering would increase if more opportunities were available to a larger group of people or to the whole community. Many opportunities are available only to the members in that club, organization, or group. If that changed, more people that were willing to help could. Instead of having a small group of volunteers, a group could have a large group of volunteers if they welcomed the community and gave them a chance to help and make a positive impact on this community. More opportunities and volunteers means that the community can
When a person contributes to their community, they gain more than a just a sense of accomplishment. The experience a person gets in return from helping the community is invaluable. It is a mutually beneficial experience. A person who helps those in need gains knowledge and experience that can help them in future endeavors.
For example, one can volunteer to clean up their community. This could mean cleaning up litter, doing yard work for someone in need, cleaning up an abandoned property, and many other things. This is important because it can not only make one's community more appealing, but it can also help to reduce potential health hazards. Another example of volunteering could be providing for the needy and homeless. People living in a community are what make the community, which means helping fellow citizens is a fantastic way to be involved. Soup kitchens and homeless shelters are great places to do
Volunteerism creates a stronger community in several ways. Generally, volunteering creates a better life in citizens and instills happiness. Specifically, in a survey of 101 randomly selected districts in the UK including districts such as; Bristol,
According to Mandatory Volunteerism by Arthur Stukas, Mark Snyder, and E. Gil Clary, it is very important not to force teenagers into community service. Since studies found that community service requirements can have negative effects on “students’ intention to volunteer freely in the future” it is important for these programs to be crafted better. For example, it was suggested that these programs should contain an “element of free choice and offer programs that allow students to choose the type of volunteer activity they will engage in.” This is extremely important since it will help students enjoy their experience doing community service and help “students who initially did not what to volunteer” find that they actually enjoy helping others “if the requirements were applied gently.”
Volunteering is an important contributor to our society. It is also a great opportunity to learn different skills, especially young people, and they will become a part of who you are. Your future employers will thank you for it, as will any college or university that you decide to apply too. It is also a perfect way for everyone to meet different people and experience different things. Volunteering not only actively will help people; it also helps the environment. Most of all, it allows you to become a better person for what you have
...teer experience. I highly recommend volunteering to anyone, because of all the great things it will teach and because of the positive impacts it make on one’s life. Volunteering will teach an individual many of life’s greatest lessons, and lets an individual grow into a better person. Volunteering teaches to let go of their ignorance and false notions of world problems and lets the volunteer learn about the real, and sometimes unattractive, condition of people in the world. Many people think that one person cannot make a difference in the world, but volunteering teaches a person to at least try to make a difference in one person’s life and to build on that. Additionally, volunteering teaches a person to be leader who can inspire others to volunteer. Volunteering is an incredibly didactic experience that will forever inspire the volunteer to be a better person.
Why do teenagers volunteer? Partly because school forces us to do so in order to graduate, but a bigger part is the joy of giving. The pure satisfaction that we can give back to our community or put a smile on someone’s face makes up for all the hard work. I moved to Virginia in the summer before eighth grade. In the two years I have been here so far I have chosen to give back to the community because I was given such a warm welcome.
Main Point: and what our community could look like if we all did our part.
Volunteering is a great way of giving support to one’s community because this can show that one will work for the
Volunteering is also a great way to gain experience and references for a job. Giving back to your community can help you learn more about yourself and even put you on a path to your future career. Both the people you are helping and your fellow volunteers can give you new insights. No matter what groups of people you’re working with, you’ll find that they have information and ways of looking at the world that can broaden
The focus of volunteering for many organizations is to help people who cannot help themselves, but there are also many benefits to those who choose to volunteer. Volunteering is a necessary, rewarding experience because it helps with many
Volunteering benefits a person by building connections with peers, improving family life, expanding career skills, overcoming self doubt, having lasting life impressions, and creating new opportunities. Just a small act can make a huge difference in someone’s life. The future is dependent on the individual person and the people they surround themselves with. Just a few hours will change both the volunteer’s life and the one that is in need.
The benefits of volunteering are enormous. People who volunteer build stronger connections with others around the globe that share their interests. Most volunteers, even those on South Africa volunteer short-term holiday experiences, feel a sense of accomplishment and have a more positive outlook on life. If your daily life has left
Community involvement has always played a vital role in my life. Growing up in a single parent household, I saw firsthand the influence that others in the community can have on a young child’s life. My siblings and I had to depend on trustworthy people in our community to provide us with things that our mother was just unable to give us. From help with homework assignments to a simple hug when I was crying, my community has helped me grow into the woman I am today. As a young child I knew that I wanted to challenge myself in every way possible so that one day I could reach out and be that influence for someone else.
Its a very useful, promising, and beneficial experience that every teen should want to be a part of. Volunteering gives people a sense of fulfilment, and the joy of knowing that so many people need help and being able to be that person to render those services makes a better person. Community service should not be a burden for any teenager, but a special gift being given to the community by a special individual. Community service should be a mandatory high school graduation requirement because it builds ones character, limits the rate of teenage delinquency, and establishes a path for a better future as an individual.
